Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House

As in all of Disney's resorts the theming is outstanding at the Animal Kingdom Lodge!

The theme is a South African wildlife lodge. The majority of the rooms in the Lodge overlook the resorts private savannas, where real African wildlife lives. You can spend hours on your balcony just watching the animals!

Inspired by the traditional African kraal, the horseshoe-curved design provides spectacular views of 4 lush savannas that over 200 hoofed animals and birds call home.

Pool with Water Slide - A 11,000-square-foot pool with an exciting water slide and gently sloping, zero-depth entry point similar to that of a natural watering hole. Surrounded by large canopy trees and Floridian palms, Uzima Pool includes a children’s wading pool and 2 whirlpool spas.

Animal Viewing (Day and Night) - Discover over 30 species of African wildlife, including zebras, giraffes, gazelles, kudu and flamingos, from your room or common areas. Read about the Night Vision Goggle animal viewing.

Child Care - At Simba’s Clubhouse, kids 3 to 12 years of age can play games, have dinner and snacks, make crafts, watch Disney movies and make new friends—while parents enjoy an evening to themselves.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Dining

The Animal Kingdom Lodge offers both fine and casual dining options. (The best meal I've had on WDW property was at Jiko)

(Menus provided by TouringPlans.com)

All Disney World guest areas can be reached by using WDW's Bus System.

This is one of the cheaper Disney Deluxe Resorts (along with the Wilderness Lodge), making the price very attractive using the Disney Armed Forces Salute.

As with all Disney resorts there are various levels of rooms, from those with a parking lot view to the Ashura view (a premium room). We opted for the Asura on our second trip and didn't think the view was any better that the standard savanna view we had before.

The price range for the Animal Kingdom Lodge is $279 - $652 per night (Before any discounts military or otherwise) Standard Room Rates.

Disney's room rates are based on both the type of room (view) and the time of year. The listed rates do not include Club Level or Suites.

See this post to learn how to determine the room price using the Disney Armed Forces Salute discount.

Finding the best time to go to Disney World can be a challenge for a military family. You need to consider not only deployment and school schedules, but also many variables at WDW which can effect your vacation.

Animal Kingdom Lodge Savanna View

Above is a view from our standard savanna view balcony, it was amazing! We spent lots of time out there enjoying the view. One night there were 4 giraffes sitting down sleeping where the giraffe is standing in this pic, it was so cool.

Animal Kingdom Lodge Room

The rooms are decorated in warm colors and are very relaxing and carry on the theme of the resort.

Animal Kingdom Lodge Lobby

The Lobby is huge with hanging lights constructed out of tribal shields. The view out the rear of the lobby looks over one of the savannas.
