The AFS tickets are considered active until all days (and admissions for the waterpark & more option) are used up. So that one ticket will still be active and you’ll only be able to activate 5 more until it’s used up.

That is the basic answer Kay, there are lots of variables which could change the answer, such as how many people you are buying for, make-up of the party, etc.

So say you activate 6 in one week and on one ticket still have a remaining day – then activate another 6 seven days later, will the one from the first 6 still work??

Here are the Shades of Green Prices Debi, the base prices are similar. There is also a Navy ticket office near the Orlando Intl airport: bottom of this page. I'll see what I can find out on at the park options...

Please remember that veteran and retired are not synonymous. What Wikipedia defines a veteran and what qualifies you as a veteran with The United States Department of Veterans Affairs are two different things. I agree with Disney. As a veteran myself, I see people leave service after many tours and many wars without a retirement check, due to unfortunate circumstances. I am happy for everyone who deserves and receives the discount. I choose not to worry about the undeserving. I say thank you to all who are brave enough to fight, no matter the duration of service. Please remember that veteran and retired are not synonymous.

One problem – what if you don’t live near a base and you don’t really have the time to go to Shades of Green to pick up your tickets. There has to be an easier way. Also, how can you find out how much the tickets cost? The park websites don’t have ANYTHING telling you.

Hey there Debi, The only special discount that's available to retired military is Disney's Armed Forces Salute, neither A-B or Universal include the retired in their special offers. But the retired are eligible to purchase the regular military discounted theme park tickets through their nearest Base ticket office or Shades of Green.

Another great point point which Destiney made on the FaceBook page, is that there are those who want to continue to serve, but are being forced out due to down sizing. This is a point I hadn't even considered when writing this post.

Mike, Hi and first off, thanks for your service!

I know this is frustrating, in fact there was a lively discussion on this on the DIS message boards today (which was deleted as it turned nasty).

Most frustrating to me, not only in regards to your specific comment, but also to Disney’s handling of this entire offer is the total confusion and lack of consistency within the company.

The details of the April 2011 extension of the offer were just updated in Disney’s site in November. And this page is very vague.

Meanwhile documents that Disney Ticket Castmembers refer to for this offer state: Note: Permanently Disabled Veterans are also eligible for this offer. These military personnel will have a military ID with a DAVPRM status.

Calling the Disney 800 number several different times can yield you as many different answers…

Have you tried to purchase the AFS tickets at your local base ticket office? If one is nearby.

Unfortunately other than that Mike, the only way to see if you can take advantage of this offer is to go there and buy the tickets.

I just got off the phone with a ‘cast member’ and she said they only accept Military IDs with “Active” or “Retired” on them. I’m a 40% service-connected DAV and while I applaud Disney for recognizing the sacrifices of our military families, I take exception to them not acknowledging those of us who served and fought and now bare the physical and emotional scars of our service.

Hi Barbara,

I agree. The only way to try to change this is for Veteran’s groups like the VFW, American Legion, AMVETS, etc. to politic with Disney to have non-retired vets included.

So talk to the State and Federal leadership of whichever organization that you might belong to and ask them to work with Disney on this.

It is so nice that someone keeps up to date to help others with information. I am a bit upset that discounts are not available to those who served their country and received an honorable discharge. Some of those currently eligible for 12 discounted tickets may opt out after two years and that was a career choice of those retired from the military. Veterans who had put their lives on the line should get consideration also. There I have vented, sorry but I remember how the Vietnam vets were not very well honored for their service and they are not being given consideration again along with so many others.

You’ve nothing to worry about as far as I know.

It’s true that SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment formerly a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch which is owned by The Blackstone Group, now operates the parks. But that management change took place in 2009 and the Here’s to the Heroes Salute has been going non-stop since 2005.

As part of the 2009 deal with Blackstone, Anheuser-Busch signed a sponsorship agreement with the Blackstone, allowing the two Busch Gardens parks to keep their current names and promotions, including the “Here’s to the Heroes” military appreciation program.

Just curious what conflicting info are you hearing?
