Hi Calina,

I'm sorry to say so, but I'm not hopeful. You never know, it just depends on how easily Disney can fill rooms.

The reasons why I'm not hopeful are: Disney has only offered a Military Salute for 3 of the 9 years since 9/11, and only during economic down-turns. Universal Studios Orlando's most recent Military offer ended 30 March and <a href="http://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/universal-military-discounts/no-more-universal-military-salute-for-2010/" rel="nofollow">was not extended</a>. As I related in this post Disney has said they won't extend this offer.

Disney still hasn't said if there will be an offer for calendar year 2011. Both the 2009 and 1010 offers were announced at the very last minute (the end of Dec-beginning of Jan). So we won't know about next year for quite a while.

Calina I'll e-mail you to chat about your length of stay etc. to see if we can come up with some ideas for you.

Great idea! You are spreading out your cost. check out <a href="http://www.restaurant.com/rdc_site2.net/listings.aspx?pgn=gcp&VicinitySearchLevel=region&level=region&stateid=18&statecd=FL&statename=Florida&regionid=15&regionname=North%20Eastern%20Florida&SearchID=50&image1.x=29&image1.y=11&" rel="nofollow">restaurant.com</a> they have some restaurants in the Disney area and their certificates are discounted.
I'm really getting nervous about what will be offered in October. We booked with Shades for the 1st week in October and are on a tight budget and were really hoping to use some sort of military salute package to buy our tickets. Not knowing what will be offered a month before our trip makes me worry we wont be able to afford to do much . I am very grateful for all the offers we are given ,but wish they would give more of a notice so people can be better prepared

I know Angela, a Disney vacation can add up quick. I was listening to my favorite Disney Podcast the other day (<a href="http://wdwtoday.com/index.php?topic=podcast" rel="nofollow">WDW Today</a> episode 760 - Ticket Price Increase) and they were talking about Disney pricing themselves out of business, and what the break point will be on base ticket prices ($100 they think). Disney has also priced their rooms so high they have to offer incentives (percentage off the room, free dining, gift cards, etc.) all the time now. I honestly think a military offer next year depends on the economy and how it effects first quarter Disney resort reservations. Don't forget to check on overflow rates through Shades if they are full, then compare that price to the best you can find from disney.

I sure hope they offer some kind of greater discount in 2011 than just the Magic Your Way Pass. Even the 40% off the resort hotels was a great addition, because most of the time it is hard to book at Shades of Green when you are on "military time", because we can't plan 6 months in advance, especially for R&R. Such an arm and a leg to go to Disney - just from what I'm looking at, if staying at Shades of Green and using the Magic Your Way tix, it is still over $2,200 just for that. Then you have to factor in food and souvenirs. Wow, I'm sure it will be worth it, but that's a steep price! lol

Hey Brian,

Hope you have a great time! Ten days wow, that's great. Make sure you take mid day breaks, it's been real hot and humid here in Florida this summer.

Great ideas on the parking!!!

A tip on the Boardwalk parking lot: They've changed the non-guest parking. When you enter the Boardwalk lot across from the Hess gas station you used to be able to drive straight towards the resort almost to the bridge and turn right into the lot, to park close. But now the gate guard will tell you to take an immediate left to park. This entrance is at the very far end of the parking lot and a long walk. But once you enter the lot drive straight back to the rear of the lot then turn right (heading towards the resort again, this parallels the valet parking area which is cordoned off) and drive up as close as you can. It's about the same distance as where you used to be able to park. I saw lots of people just enter the lot and park at the far end not knowing you could drive up closer because if you look to the right as you enter you see the closed off valet area.

Enjoy your trip, Steve

We are heading out tomorrow morning to take the long drive from NJ to WDW. We are going for 10 days, and will be staying at the SOG. When going to Epcot and Hollywood Studios we are going to park for FREE at the Boardwalk and take the FREE boat ride in. Magic Kingdom trips will start with a walk to the Polynesian. The only parking that we will need to pay for is at Animal Kingdom. We have breakfast reservations at the Tusker House, I wonder if that will get me free parking? I will post amore about the trip when I return.

Another way we used to do it , take all of our tax refund and overtime money and put it in the savings. You're exactly right "look for every way to save , that you can". Vacation club . People would use there credit cards for vacation instead of saving it , well I save , pay it all off before , I go vacation.
There an article , I just read today where hotels nickle and dime you . If you want that article direct me to what email to send it too .

I know, it's frustrating. You just have to look for every way to save that you can. My personal tip is when I pay with cash I never give anyone coins. I get coins as change and every bit goes in my Disney fund. It adds up, one time it was over a year between visits and I'd saved over $300.

It sounds like , nothing is free anymore . Many resorts / hotels are all charging to park "per day" . Last year went to Chicago , parked and it cost us $20.00 ( per day ) .
