With the number of times I’d been to Disney World I’ve had all kinds of breakfasts. From the food courts at the value and moderate Disney Resorts, to the rowdy Whispering Canyon Cafe, to the character buffet at Chef Mickey’s, and even the Princess Breakfast at Cinderella’s Royal Table. I’ve discovered my new favorite, Kouzzina by Cat Cora, on the Boardwalk at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort.
Now I didn’t jump to this conclusion, my wife and I tried it twice. Once last July during our stay at Shades of Green, and again this month when we were down for the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. It’s convenient for getting a good start to your day prior to going to Epcot. Its just a five minute walk to Epcot’s International Gateway.
This is not the spot to get a quick Mickey Waffle, the menu is inspired by Cat’s Greek heritage and is quite interesting. During our two visits the two of us have tried a total of three breakfast entrees. The first time we tried the Classic Golden Waffle – with Whipped Mascarpone Cheese, Honey, and Chopped Pecans and choice of Bacon or Chicken Sausage and the Stacked Kouzzina Breakfast – Two Poached Eggs, Kalamata Olive Toast, Artichoke Spread, and Sweet Potato Hash with choice of Bacon or Chicken Sausage. The second time we again got the Stacked Kouzzina Breakfast and this time the Vegetable Flatbread – Scrambled Eggs, Roasted Red Peppers, Spinach, and Feta with a side of the incredible Sweet Potato Hash. Did you notice we got the Stacked Breakfast both times? It’s awesome! The flavors were so interesting in all of our selections, the whipped mascarpone cheese made a usual choice unusual and let me tell you the sweet potato hash is to die for, I could eat that several times a week! The vegetable Flatbread came with fresh spinach salad in greek dressing on the top, so different yet outstanding.
Kouzzina is a table service restaurant so advance reservations are suggested. We were quickly seated in July near opening time but had quite a wait this month around 10am. It was quite busy around 10am, fairly noisy in the one large dining area with an open show kitchen.
Next time you get the chance I recommend that you try Kouzzina.
