Disney Armed Forces Salute Extended Through September 2012.

It’s Official – Disney Confirms – Offer Extended

UPDATE – The offer keeps getting changing. See here for the most up to date details

Disney’s Armed Forces Salute has now been extended to September 2012.

This outstanding Military Discount on resort rooms and theme park tickets has been extended.

The outstanding news was announced today on the Disney owned ABC Television’s The View. Whoopi Goldberg made the announcement that The Walt Disney Company is doing their part to help members of our military and their families as well.

Today, Whoopi announced that “Disney has now extended to September 2012 special ticket and room prices to active military and their spouses, retired military, National Guard and Reservists at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.”

Like all previous Disney Armed Forces Salute announcements, information is very limited at first. I Just talked with Disney Military Sales.

The extension of the military discounts for Disney are official!

They have not determined blockout dates yet for the October 2011 – September 2012 offer yet.

Ticket options number of days and pricing will remain the same.

And the best news: If you used the ticket offer in FY11 you are eligible for tickets again in FY12.

Yesterday I called Disney’s Central Reservations Office to check on the announcement and the agent I talked to had not heard of the extension of the Armed Forces Salute. He was very helpful and tried to make me a hotel reservation for a date past the end date of the current offer (which ends 1 Oct ’11) and he was not able to make the reservation. He said that if it was just announced they probably hadn’t loaded the codes in the system to allow the reservations to be made. So if you desire dates after 1 October 2011 just keep trying Disney reservations or use a Disney only travel agent like Ears of Experience.

  1. Great news Steve! I posted about your scoop on my site.

  2. Nicole Crawford says:

I just spoke with disney reservations and they told me that since the ticket promotion will stay the same as 2011, we are not eligible to use the ticket promotion again in 2011. Meaning if we traveled Jan 10, 2011, we would not be able to use the ticket promotion again Nov 26, 2011. I wasn’t sure what FY stood for under your bolded “and the best news” stood for. I was really hoping it stood for some type of fiscal year, as I had heard that disney runs there year from like Oct 1-Oct 1. Have you heard anything different or is what I was told correct and we wouldn’t be eligible again until Jan 2012 for tickets? Thanks for your help.

    • Hey there Nicole,

Yep FY is for fiscal year. When I broke this story I specifically asked the Manager of Disney Military Sales, the department responsible for these offers, if some one has used the offers (room, or ticket) during the current offer would the be eligible again for the next offer after 1 Oct. ’11. he was specific that people would be eligible for the next one if they’d used this one.

The thing with Disney reservationists is that they often aren’t up to speed on many details and little known offers. My friend Amy at Ears of Experience often has to educate the Disney employee she is working with. Many Disney reservationists are part time and in several locations around the US, so info doesn’t flow too well.

The last time I called with a military discount question the reservationist said “well I haven’t read any of the notices yet today”, so I stayed on the phone while it almost sounded like he was googleing on the company site what I was asking about. You probably called back in 5 minutes and gotten a different answer.

I’ll post again as soon as I hear something!

Thank you for always updating and posting this information! I’m currently deployed and hoped it would change to go during November or December! I appreciate you!

    • Hey Elizabeth,

It’s my pleasure, I really enjoy getting to do this. I too appreciate what it is that you do! Stay safe on the rest of your deployment.

      Steve

    • Hey Jasmin, depends on where you are talking about.

At Disney World in Fla. its July 4, 2011 (Magic Kingdom only)

  5. Melissa says:

    Hi Steve,

My husband and I are planning to go to Disneyland in early January and would like to offer to purchase tickets for two of our friends who are going with us. The only catch is that we are arriving one day earlier than our friends so we will have already redeemed our salute the military discount tickets for regular tickets on our first day. Do you know if we can get tickets for our friends in this case when their first day in the park will be one day after our first day in the park?

    Thanks!

    Melissa

    • Hey Melissa,

In the past you had to have everyone there for the activation, but many people now report that this in no longer the case. You can activate all the tickets when you get there and use your first day, then when your friends arrive they can begin using their already activated tickets.

  6. Alma Gerena says:

Hi Steve, Im new to all this, my husband is coming back from deployment in July 2012 and we are trying to take a trip to Disney World for August right before school starts for our kids here. How can I look at the prices? Im so lost, Sorry!!

    • Hi there Alma,

The best thing to do in your situation is to have a Disney Travel expert help you.

If you’d really like to talk to an expert I recommend contacting Amy at Ears of Experience, a full service travel agent with no cost to you. She’ll do all the leg work for you and guide you to some really great savings.
