Disney announces Armed Forces Salute extended until September 2012
Yesterday Disney announced that they were bringing back the Armed Forces Salute which they offered in 2002 in the economic aftermath of 11 September 2001. This offer is for 40% discounted rooms in select moderate resorts, a free 5-day park ticket for military members and up to 5 discounted tickets for family and friends.
I’ve contacted Disney each year since the end of 2002 when they discontinued this offer to inquire if they would be bringing the offer back in support of the troops defending our nation. Every year they replied “sorry, no”.
Anheuser-Busch’s Hero Salute has been running every year without fail!
It saddens me that the Walt Disney Corporation only shows it’s support of the military during the company’s worst economic times, unlike Anheuser-Busch.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll accept the free ticket, buy the steeply discounted family and friends tickets and go and spend money on food, souvenirs, and accommodations while there but I just wish the company Walt (who was so patriotic) started had been there for us this whole time.
