Walt Disney World is offering military discounts on WDW Memory Maker.
Disney’s Memory Maker
PhotoPass and Memory Maker are Disney’s two programs with witch you can have Disney’s professional photographers document your Disney World Vacation.
For 2023 and 2024 Walt Disney World is offering their Memory Maker Service for a huge discount!
NOTE: Disneyland is not offering this discount for 2023 or 2024.
Note to non-retired veterans; you do not qualify for the Disney Armed Forces Salute, however there are Disney Veteran Discounts that you do qualify for.Â
PhotoPass
Almost everywhere you go in the Disney theme parks, you’ll see Disney PhotoPass Photographers. They are stationed at all of the best, most scenic locations at which you can have your picture taken, for example in front of Cinderella Castle or with France and the Eifel Tower in the background at Epcot’s World Showcase.
They are also at some of the character meals (Chef Mickey’s, Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue, Tusker House breakfast, ‘Ohana breakfast, 1900 Park Fare, and Spirit of Aloha dinner show), and at Character Meet and Greets.
Many thrill rides also have automatic cameras to capture your reactions to the most thrilling part of the ride in photo or video form.
Taking the photos is a free service, you can decide later if you want to purchase the photos. Just have your Magic Band or park ticket scanned to identify who you are and get your picture taken.
You can then review your photos online using your My Disney Experience account or the PhotoPass/Memory Maker sites.
As mentioned many Disney theme park rides snap photos of you at exciting moments, such as plunging down a hill. Those wearing magic bands don’t need to do a thing, your pics will end up in your PhotoPass account. Those without Magic Bands can scan their ticket to claim the pictures as theirs.
If you take part in any of the Run Disney events the race photos are included with the Memory Maker also. Instructions to link your race number to your Memory Maker account can be found on the back of your race bib.
How purchasing pictures works
Disney has two different sales systems for purchasing these pictures, PhotoPass and Memory Maker.
The two systems work exactly the same when you are on vacation, the difference is that Memory Maker is a prepaid package, while PhotoPass is an a la carte, pay by the picture after the fact system.
At Disney World, Memory Maker, normally costs $169 for the package if you order at least 3 days before your vacation (or $169 within 3 days). For this price you’ll receive unlimited digital downloads of all the pictures that you had taken on your vacation for up to 45 days afterwards, a CD backup can be purchased for an extra fee. (general public prices)
Pay As You Go
With PhotoPass you can download any of the pictures that you select, which were taken of you on your vacation. You’ll pay $14.95 each photo though.
Using PhotoPass/Memory Maker in the parks
It is so easy!
When you see a Disney Photographer, just hand him your ticket or hav them scan your Magic Band. That’s it! Soon after they take the picture it will be available online in your My Disney Experience account. Photos at character meet and greets or breakfasts work the same way.
For rides that have a photo or video, you will see a kiosk at the exit where you can preview the image. Those without Magic Bands will have to hold their ticket up to the scanner to claim their image. Magic Band wearers don’t need to do anything, the ride knows what ride vehicle you were in and will put the image into your account.

Keri says
Our daughter is going to Disney with a friend. Is she not able to purchase the memory maker or photo pass with her military ID?
Steve says
Hi Keri,
Disney’s rules on this discount explicitly say that the Memory Maker discount is for the “Eligible Service Members and their spouses.”
So your daughter would have to pay full price.
But, can’t hurt to try…
Danelle says
Hi, Steve. Any update if this is still being offered with the reopening of Disneyland? Their page only shows the general public price and nothing for military page loads since they have not reinstated Salute program there. Thanks!
Steve says
HI Danelle,
No, sorry, none whatsoever. Sadly Disney will be silent until and if the release it.
https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disneyland/disneyland-opening-nationwide-and-the-disney-armed-forces-salute/
Danelle says
Thanks, Steve. We went ahead and bought tickets last month since we will be out there and didn’t want to risk sell out by awaiting if Salute will happen. However, I wasn’t sure about Memory Maker. But, they do have a daily option right now that really is pretty similar so we will just buy that for pics. Thanks again!
Rachel Rohrback says
is there any way to purchase the photo maker with military discount prior to coming to disney? online, or somewhere local?
Steve says
Hi Rachel,
Sorry, no. Disney only does this in person.
Robin L. Toblin says
Hi Steve thanks for your helpful newsletter. I was so proactive in getting ready for Disney, that I bought memory maker prior to realizing there was a military discount. If I go to guest services when I arrive, will they provide me a refund for the full price that I paid already relative to what the discount would have been?
Steve says
Way to be on top of it Robin.
Thanks for the kind words!
I would definitely ask them to do so. It k=might require some dedication and asking for a manager.
Devon T says
Hi Steve, we are going to Disney World in two weeks and I’m a little confused on the Memory Maker process!
We are doing Hollywood Studios on our first park day; where in the park do we go to purchase the military discounted Memory Maker package? And it’s immediately available once we link it to the My Disney Experience app, right?
Thanks so much for your help!
Steve says
Hi Devon,
Yes. it’s immediately available!
You should be able to purchase it just inside the park tot eh left at Guest Relations. If not there they can direct you.
Erica says
Can you point me to where Memory Maker is priced at $149 for a pre-purchase?
Steve says
Hi Erica
You can not pre-purchase with a military discount. You need to purchase after arrival as described in the post.
Jerod Mickelson says
Hey Steve,
We just finished our trip and time got away from us and we forgot to purchase the memory maker. Is there still a way to do it even though we left Orlando?
Steve says
Not that I’m awake of Jerod. They want to check your ID in person.
Judy W says
I’m a bit confused.. The current price for the public is $169 not $149 as listed on the website. So is the military rate that’s purchased at our first park $149 or $98? And does that rate cover our full stay of 5 days?
Thank you
Steve says
Hi Judy,
Thanks, looks like WDW bumped up the general public price. The military price remains the same!
Yes it does.
Ceslie says
Is there a Military Discount for the One Day Memory Maker or just the multi day memory maker?
Steve says
Hi Ceslie,
No, just the one listed here
luciano fernandes ribeiro says
I’m a veteran military from Brazil, do I have a discount on memory maker?
Steve says
No sorry.
Barry says
I am standing at Guest Services in Disney Springs and am being told that my VA service connected disability (in my case 80%) card does not qualify for the discount for the Memory Maker. I am stunned. I would either need to be active duty, retired or 100% disabled…and today is Memorial Day.
Steve says
Hi Barry,
Unfortunately that is correct. It is stated in the note at the top of this page (6th sentence).
VA cards, no matter the percentage are not valid for any Disney discount.
I’m sorry about your confusion.
college brawl app says
Thank you for sharing this information! As a military member, I’m always looking for ways to save money on Disney vacations. The Military Discount on Memory Maker is a great offer, and I’ll definitely be taking advantage of it on my next trip. It’s great to see Disney offering such wonderful discounts to those who serve our country.
NA7 WhatsApp says
Excellent post! As a military spouse, I can appreciate the value of the Military Discount on Memory Maker at Walt Disney World. It’s great to see Disney continuing to show their appreciation for our service members and their families. I’ll definitely be taking advantage of this offer when we visit next year. Thanks for sharing!
Shea says
We are traveling as a group of 9. 6 of us are using military salute tickets. My brother in law is the service member. Does he have to have a login to the Disney app to be able to purchase memory maker? Or can he purchase and it just shows on the rest of our MDE because we are all linked in the app? He doesn’t have a login, and I know he would prefer not to set anything up. I’ve been designated to do all the planning and handle all that to make it less stressful for him. He would be around to purchase it as he has to activate our tickets. I would just like minimize any hassle/stress ahead of time.
Steve Bell says
Hi Shea,
I think he might. But he has to purchase the military discounted plan in person, so you an check then and just quickly create an account for him if needed and then friend and family everyone to share the pics.
