The Disney Cruise Line
The Disney Cruise Line continues to offer Military discounts. Military Discounted Cruise Rates are usually announced 30-60 days out. Officials with the Cruise Line recommended to me that if you know your dates go ahead and make your reservations at the best rate you can find as far out as possible. Then when a military rate is announced for that particular sailing they will apply that rate to your reservations. They usually set aside fifty staterooms of all categories for the military rates (except for suites and the lowest categories).

Just curious where you find out information like this. I went online to Disney’s website and there was no 2011 info to be found. I also called them directly and the agent confirmed the resort discounts but didn’t seem to have any ticket discount info (other than to tell me to check with my ITR office, which I already knew to do). And my ITR office hadn’t heard anything as of yet, so just wondering how you got the inside scoop so fast!
Hey Rachael, thanks for checking in. The room discounts are in effect now as you’ve noted. The ticket discount should start 1 January 2011. My friend Amy at Ears of Experience has had lots of trouble the last two days making these room only military reservations, she has had to teach some Disney reservationists about their own discount codes. The ticket info has not been released so the reservationists, many of whom are in Tampa, can’t see it. And Base ticket offices also have no info as Disney hasn’t released the info to them. My base ticket office has no info either. And as to my sources, well as they say it’s an “Un-named source” lol. Keep checking back here for the latest info.
Thanks, Steve
I actually called Disney on the 3rd to ask about military discount and a CS agent told me about the offer. He mentioned I needed to call back Monday morning. I did call Monday but the CS that helped me then told me to call Shades of Green. Called them told me I could purchse the tickets at the gate for $138. I called Disney again this morning, CS told me to call ITT. This time they mentioned that Shades of Green is not involved in this offer. I was so excited becuase I am going to Orlando on 10/18 traveling all the way from Alaska.!!!! I am a bit frusturated.
Just wondering will the soldiers ticket be free this year like it was last year? Last year we went and his was free and mine was $99. Also Can you use both the ticket special and the hotel special? Since the military tickets are purchased seperately will we be allowed to purchase the dining plan if we are staying at one of the All-Star resorts?
The 2009 ticket was free for the military member, the 2010 (which just ended) was not. From what I’ve heard about this coming ticket offer the member will have to pay for their ticket. You certainly can combine the ticket and resort room discounts. I beleive that you can add on the dining plan, I think Amy from Ears of Experience mentioned that, but I’d check with her. She’s the expert!
I wish Disney would give all military families the chance to use the discount! My husband and son are always deployed at the time and home during blackout dates. We already have reservations there for April 16-23-2011 but looks like that might be one of the blackout dates next year. That is the only time we are able to go due to deployments. I understand having the blackout dates during Christmas…The kids and I have been there several times then when dad was deployed but I still think they should do away with the other blackout dates…just my opinion

Can meal plans be added to the military discount tickets? And if so, how would we go about that or who can be contacted about this information? Thank you for your time
Hi Tricia, I believe that you can add the meal plans when staying at a Disney Resort. My suggestion is to contact Amy at Ears of Experience. Amy is a military spouse who runs a Disney only fee free travel agency. She can give you the most current advice and cost saving ideas at no extra cost than you’d pay Disney direct. You can fill out a contact form here, or give Amy a call direct at: 1-877-80MOUSE. Tell Amy I said Hi!

Since the discount seems to run from Oct to Oct – does anyone know when they will announce the discount from Oct 2011 to Oct 2012? We’re looking to visit Dec 2011 but can’t get the military rate plugged in since it “expires” in Oct and they haven’t released one for after that yet. I’m hoping it’s not too late in the year b/c everything will freaking be booked by the time we get to reserve. Thanks in advance.
Hi April,
This is the third year that Disney has offered a military salute, and each year they have announced the offer just prior to or as it is starting. Also keep in mind that it’s not a given that there will be a military discount in late 2001 and 2012. This current round of offers is due to the economic downturn and declining numbers at disney’s parks. The Disney Parks CEO is on record saying that Disney will be weaning the public off of discounts as they move forward.
If having the military discount is a deal breaker for you I’d plan my trip prior to it’s end on 1 Oct 2011.
