We’ve entered a great time of year, a time when there are many occasions to be thankful. Just last month we celebrated Veteran’s Day, I’m personally thankful for my military brethren who have and continue to serve. For those who deploy over and over in support of our military’s needs and especially the spouses and families who carry on at home during those deployments.
Last month after attending a retirement in the Newport News area my wife and I took a weekend trip Washington DC. We toured all the memorials on the National Mall and Arlington Cemetery as well as the Museum of American History. It was all so inspiring. While there we also got to see the running of the Army Ten Miler a race through downtown DC. As we watched we were so impressed with all the people and groups running to show their support and then a military member who’d lost both his legs ran by… It was overwhelming the feelings of thanks and pride that ran through me.
Today is Thanksgiving, another day to be thankful for all the bounty that we have here in America. One thing I’ve learned during my travels around the world in the military is just how good we have it here in the USA. Take a moment during your day to reflect on all those who aren’t home.
