Are you planning to use the Disney Armed Forces Salute Military Discount in 2012?
Would you like to know the best week to go to Disney World based on your specific preferences?
The 2012 Week Picker at YourFirstVisit.net will tell you!
Dave at Your First Visit puts lots of time and effort each year into creating this handy tool. I’ve been using it for a couple of years now and really like it.
How does it work?
All you have to do is answer three simple questions.
- The first question is how you feel about crowds
- The second question is how much you care about prices
- The third is the importance of avoiding certain types of weather
Step by Step Process
On the first page you click on one of the following statements:
1. You are seeking the lowest crowds
2. You are seeking to avoid higher crowds
3. You are seeking to avoid the highest crowds
4. You don’t care about crowds
Once you do you are started down the path to finding your best weeks.
The following page asks how important price is to you and selects the appropriate Disney price seasons.
And your last question asks how you feel about the various weather seasons that affect Orlando.
The Result – Your Best Weeks
The final page you arrive on will be your best weeks to visit Walt Disney World in 2012, based of course on your answers.
You will be presented with three charts, one for each of Disney’s resort categories: Deluxe, Moderate, and Value.
You can view each chart to see the best weeks for that resort category.
Each Chart shows the following info: Your recommended weeks from January through December 2012, comments, crowd info, Price info, Info about Disney’s annual schedule, and a convenient 180 day prior date (for making Advanced Dining Reservations).
There is also a column marked Week Rank, the results in this column might look a little funny at first, but this number represents the week’s score compared to all weeks of the year from a more general perspective, not the refined results you’ve received by using the week picker.
If you’d like to see all of the general results for the year check out 2012 Weeks to Visit Walt Disney World, Ranked in Order, which is designed to yield answers for the “typical family.”
Give The Week Picker A Try
Check out the 2012 Week Picker, it will give you a great starting point for deciding when would be the best time for you to visit Disney World.
There is also a 2011 version if you’ll be going to WDW this year.

Steve, thanks for the review!
Calling out the week ranking is a great point–that’s done on a different basis, and likely hurts more than it helps! I’ll definitely leave that column out next year…
All the best, Dave
My Pleasure Dave,
As I’ve said before, I appreciate all the work that you put into your products!
Steve,
Awesome website. Also awesome links. I think me and my wife have figured out which week we will be taking our kids. I have a question though. Currently with the up to 40% of WDW Resorts, what would be the benefit to staying at shades of green. It just seems not worth it as an E-6. I’ve stayed at other military resorts, just not sure this is smart price wise at the moment.
Will
Will you hit the nail on the head.
With the great discount Disney is offering Shades while nice isn’t that great a deal. Especially if you consider the super Disney atmosphere you get at a Disney resort.
I usually stay at Disney resorts and only visit Shades for research. We just prefer the Atmosphere and quality.
A Disney moderate at 35% off generally beats Shades and Deluxes at 40%can come close. I got the AKL for 200 per night.
I, Dave at yourfirstvisit.net, or Amy at Ears of Experience can recommend some resorts.
Enjoy your trip!
Hey WIll, it’s Dave from http://yourfirstvisit.net
I agree with Steve. What you get at Shades is, in the room itself, really great value for the money, but otherwise next to no Disney magic.
My Disney World hotel recommendations are here: http://yourfirstvisit.net/planning-your-first-family-trip/where-to-stay/next-best-resort-choices/
Hope this helps!! Dave
