Well I’m just back from a week in D.C. I was at FEMA Headquarters coordinating DoD Search and Rescue efforts with our civilian partners. The Haiti telethon is on TV now and I just wanted to say that this is going to be a long effort to rebuild. It could even end up better than before.

If you can donate something, there are so many ways! Pick the one you like best. Here are some that I’ve seen:

Text Haiti to 90999, this sends $10 to the Red Cross (charged to your phone bill)
Make a donation through iTunes “It’s as easy as buying a song”
Donate your Holiday Inn Priority Club Points
The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund
I even had a link on my Tivo to donate

These are just a couple that I’ve seen from companies that I do business with. I’m sure you’ve seen more!

Hurricane Operations

Wow I’ve been so busy this month… I’d wanted to really get going on the site but Hurricanes Fay, Gustav, and Ike had other ideas. This week we finished up an intense almost month of high tempo operations for the hurricanes. Working mostly every day and numerous 12-hour plus  shifts. Getting rescue forces ready, positioned, and then and moved around again for each different storm culminating in the the rescues the night before and the day after Ike’s landfall.

In two weeks I go TDY to a two month long school. I’m going to try to work on the site some before I go and definitely while I’m at school. I’ll have a lot of free time there.

Well going to get to work…

I’ve been thinking about doing a piece on the tunnel under the Magic Kingdom.
