Disney Extends It’s Military Salute for 2010

Great news from Disney, they have renewed their Military Salute Discount for dates in 2010!

UPDATE Disney extended their Military Salute Discount into 2011

Starting 3 January until 31 July 2010 U.S. Military Members* can purchase up to six 4-Day Base Tickets for $99 per ticket, plus tax. These tickets can be used by the military member, family members, or friends. The tickets are valid for use through 30 September 2010. There are blockout dates during which the tickets are not valid. The blockout dates are: 27 March – 9 April 2010 at all four theme parks, and 3-4 July  2010 at Magic Kingdom only.

These tickets do not include either the Park Hopper or Water Park Fun & More options, but they can be upgraded to add either option, or both, for an additional $25, plus tax, per option.

Starting 3 January 2010 you can purchase your tickets at Your base’s Ticket/Travel Office, Shades of Green, or Disney Theme Park main entrance ticket windows. If you purchase at your base or Shades of Green you’ll save paying the tax. Tickets purchased at your base or Shades of Green need to be taken to a Disney Theme Park main entrance ticket window to be exchanged for the actual ticket.

There’s been no indication yet if there will also be a Military Room Discount like the 40% one offered in 2009. Also still no word from Universal Orlando on if they’ll offer a Military Salute like they did in 2009.

Our great friends at Anheuser-Busch are again offering their Here’s to the Heros Salute for 2010. They offer free admission to Sea World Orlando, Tampa’s Bush Gardens, or other Busch Parks for the Military Member and up to 3 dependents.

*Disney Military Salute restrictions:

Tickets are for active and retired US Military including Coast Guard and active members of the Reserves or National Guard, and permanently disabled veterans with a valid military ID card.If the service member is not present, the spouse or unremarried widow may purchase up to five tickets during the validity period.

The tickets may be upgraded to Seasonal (for Florida Residents) or Annual Passes, with credit toward the upgrade based on the actual price paid.

No Expiration Option cannot be added to these tickets. No other upgrades, such as adding additional days, will be available.

Tickets must be used by the same person on any and all days.

This offer may not be combined with any other offer.

Military (And Non-Military) Discounts For 2010

As this year draws to a close some of the great Disney discounts both for the military and the general public finish up as well. What’s the outlook for next year?

Disney’s Military Salute will be ending 23 December 2009. No word yet if Disney will continue their Military Salute for 2010, they typically only offer Military Salutes during economic downturns. The last time a Military Salute was offered by Disney was in 2002 during the economic aftermath of the 11 September attacks. Prior to that they offered a one-day ticket to Desert Shield/Storm Vets during 1990.

Perhaps a good sign for further military discounts from Disney is the recent announcement of the Free Nights Offer for November 2009 through March 2010. This offer is similar to the Buy 4 get 7 nights offer Disney started in 2009 about the same time the started the Military Salute.

Although Shades of Green ended their Red, White, and Blue Salute they just announced their new Celebration Package running 1 January 2009 through 31 March 2010.

Universal’s 2009 Military Salute will be ending 18 December with no word yet on whether it will make a comeback for 2010.

Anheuser-Busch’s website says their Hero Salute is for 2009, but they’ve offered it every year since 9/11. This year it took a week or two into the year before their website reflected that the offer was continuing.

Disney’s free admission on your birthday is ending this year too. The only offer for a free day taking it’s place is the Give a Day get a Disney Day program where you get a free day in a Disney park in return for volunteer work at an approved charity.

Stay tuned for more info as the new year approaches!

Shades of Green raised attraction ticket prices

As expected Shades of Green has posted new discounted attraction ticket prices on their web site. I’ve updated all of the prices here. Earlier this month Disney increased the price of a one day one park admission ticket to $75 which effects all other admission prices. Experts have said this is an important price point and should hold for a while. Going above $75 is significant.

I remember prices in the low to mid 20′s when I worked there!

Universal Studios Orlando followed Disney’s lead and raised their one day admission to $75 also.
