Recently Walt Disney World announced tiered pricing for their multi-day tickets based upon your travel dates.
This was an expected announcement and it follows the change to tiered pricing for single-day tickets way back in February 2016.
Beginning 16 October 2018 on DisneyWorld.com, guests will purchase general public priced multi-day tickets priced by the first date of visit.
Many MDT readers have asked how this affects Military Discounted Disney World Tickets.
Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets Unaffected
The Disney Armed Forces Salute is a special deal for the military community, which offers highly discounted tickets at a set price for a set timeframe.
The 2019 Disney Armed Forces Salute has already been announced including non-tiered pricing for the associated tickets.
But these are not the only type of discounted WDW tickets available to the military community.
What about the other types? There are two kinds: the Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets and the Shades of Green Stars and Stripes Tickets.
From this point on it the post is purely my speculation (based upon prior history)
Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets
Disney World switched single-day tickets to date based tiered pricing in February 2016. This change did not make its way to the Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets until February 2018.
That’s 2 years that these military tickets continued to be offered at the same price no matter what day of the year they were purchased for.
I expect a similar (though not as long) period when the same thing will transpire for the multi-day tickets.
- We will not know ahead of time when the switch to tiered pricing is coming
- Disney honors previously purchased tickets As Is, even after price changes
- Disney tickets always go up in price over time
MDT’s Standard TIP: When planning to use non-Salute tickets, always buy them before a price increase! Which has been in February the last few years.
I recommend buying these now if these tickets are what you plan/need to use for your upcoming trip!

And you can read about Disney Ticket Price Increases here.
The Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets are not offered by Disney, ONLY Base Ticket Offices including Shades of Green and the Orlando ITT.
Stars and Stripes Tickets
Shades of Green’s Stars and Stripes Tickets are length of stay tickets for guests registered at Shades of Green® or at a hotel on the Walt Disney World® Resort property.
Admission is for the purchased number of days on your ticket to the WDW theme parks, water parks, Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course, and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
The number of days on your ticket must match your length of stay and must be used consecutively.
These are multi-day tickets!
They are offered in 2 to 10 day lengths. They follow the general public Magic Your Way Park Hopper Plus Ticket prices, though they are cheaper because they do not include mini golf as the Plus Option does and are offered at a slight military discount.
Though there is no president on these (being multi-day) I again expect a similar (though not as long) period when the the non-tiered pricing will remain in effect.
All the same advice from the Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets section above applies here as well.
Sooner is always better!
You avoid price increases this way.
