This post is part of our Frequently Asked Question Series in the Disney Armed Forces Salute Rooms FAQ section.
The Disney’s Armed Forces Salute offers huge savings on theme park tickets and resort rooms to those Service Members who are eligible to participate.
Are The Disney Armed Forces Room Discounts Always Available?
No, unfortunately they are not.
There is a specific timeframe during which each individual Salute Program is offered. Since Disney switched to calendar-year Salute offer periods the Salute always ends just before Christmas and the next Salute doesn’t start until January.
Also during some Salute Offer Periods there are days on which the discount is not offered. Disney calls these Blockout Days. Because these are days which the offer is blocked from use.
Offer Timeframe
The Walt Disney World 2021 Disney Armed Forces Salute Room and Ticket Offers started on 1 January and run through 17 December 2021.
The Disneyland 2021 Disney Armed Forces Salute Room and Ticket Offers started on 7 July and run through 17 December 2022.
Dates outside of these dates are currently not eligible for Salute Room Discounts.
If a 2022 Disney Armed Forces Salute is offered, it would not be expected to start until one of the first few days of January 2022.
Blockout Dates
For the 2021 Salute Offer they are:
- There are no Room Blockout Dates!
Any stays on Blockout dates would not be eligible for the special military rate and would need to be at either the full rate or if another discount is available at that rate.
Not Always Guaranteed
Also, Disney only sets aside a certain number of rooms per night at each resort and of each room type for the Salute discount.
So, for your desired dates at your desired resort, your specific room request may not always be available for a Salute discount. Note: highly desirable rooms rooms get used up first.
Starting in 2018 Disney began offering the Salute room discount on a sliding scale you shold understand how that works as well.
Nightly Rates
Each night’s stay at a Disney resort is charged at that day’s rate. For example Friday and Saturdays are often a higher rate than the rest of the week, while Monday to Wednesday are often the cheapest, and Thursday and Sunday are in the middle.
So if some of your trip is outside the offer period or during Blockout dates, part of your trip would be at the military rate and part at the general public rate. This would require separate reservations for each.

Now that French Quarter will be reopening in October, do you know if/when they will be offering the Military room discounts there?
Steve says
Hi Jen,
More resorts opening is a very good sign for Disney Armed Forces Salute room discount availability all over property!
Discounts are solely used to fill rooms!
Opening resorts means more rooms to fill.
Expect discounts at POFQ to be handled in the recent traditional sliding scale method when the resort is not booked past the cutoff point for the Salute discount.
