World Resort.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It opened its doors on 1 May 1989.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>When the theme park first opened it was called Disney MGM Studios. In 2008 the name was changed to the current Disney Hollywood Studios. Some people get confused by the similarly named theme park run by another company in the Orlando Area (Universal Studios, Orlando).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/orlando-attractions\/disney-vs-universal-is-universal-for-small-children\/\">Disney vs. Universal &#8211; Is Universal for Small Children?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Disney\u2019s Hollywood Studios departs from the traditional Disney park arrangement of a series of lands arranged around a central area, Disneyland, the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom all follow this template.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Disney\u2019s Hollywood Studios, however, was originally laid out as a series of \u201cStreets\u201d running off in different directions. Some connect with the central area, while others do not. The recent addition of 2 new lands (Star Wars : Galaxy&#8217;s Edge and Toy Story Land) has made it even less centralized by creating a loop around the back of the older portions of the park.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_22719\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Disney-Hollywood-Studios-Hollywood-Boulevard.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22719\" class=\"wp-image-22719 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Disney-Hollywood-Studios-Hollywood-Boulevard.jpg\" alt=\"Disney's Hollywood Studios\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Disney-Hollywood-Studios-Hollywood-Boulevard.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Disney-Hollywood-Studios-Hollywood-Boulevard-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Disney-Hollywood-Studios-Hollywood-Boulevard-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Disney-Hollywood-Studios-Hollywood-Boulevard-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-22719\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hollywood Boulevard facing the entrance<\/p><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hollywood_Studios_Layout\"><\/span>Hollywood Studios Layout<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Hollywood Studios uses a modified Disney Park layout with a single entrance at one end of a land that leads into the park with a hub at the far end of that land, and the other lands arranged in a random manner around the hub and to the rear of the entrance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hollywood Studios is composed of:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After entering the park, you\u2019ll proceed up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/disneys-hollywood-studios\/hollywood-boulevard-at-disneys-hollywood-studios\/\">Hollywood Boulevard<\/a>, which is a short street with shopping venues on both sides, towards what serves as the Hollywood Studios plaza.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Off to the right, prior to getting to the plaza, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/disneys-hollywood-studios\/sunset-boulevard-at-disneys-hollywood-studios\/\">Sunset Boulevard<\/a>, a long street that dead ends at the entrance for Rock &#8216;n\u2019 Roller Coaster, passing the Hollywood Tower of Terror and Fantasmic on the way.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Opposite Sunset Boulevard, a path loops clockwise around <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/disneys-hollywood-studios\/echo-lake-at-disneys-hollywood-studios\/\">Echo Lake<\/a>, which is to the left of the main plaza and rejoins the plaza on the left side.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Another path loops to the left off the Echo Lake path, heading to the rear of the park past Star Tours and then turning into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/disneys-hollywood-studios\/grand-avenue-at-disneys-hollywood-studios\/\">Grand Avenue<\/a>. Here, a street called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/disneys-hollywood-studios\/commissary-lane-at-disneys-hollywood-studios\/\">Commissary Lane<\/a> heads to the right, back to the main Plaza, while Grand Avenue leads to the rear of the park and Star Wars: Galaxy\u2019s Edge.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/disneys-hollywood-studios\/star-wars-galaxys-edge-at-disneys-hollywood-studios\/\">Star Wars: Galaxy\u2019s Edge<\/a> curves across the back of the park and meets Toy Story Land.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/disneys-hollywood-studios\/toy-story-land-at-disneys-hollywood-studios\/\">Toy Story Land<\/a> curves along the right side of the park and heads back to the main plaza, meeting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/disneys-hollywood-studios\/pixar-plaza-at-disneys-hollywood-studios\/\">Pixar Plaza<\/a>, which runs diagonally behind the plaza into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/disneys-hollywood-studios\/animation-courtyard-in-disneys-hollywood-studios\/\">Animation Courtyard<\/a>, which is just to the right of the main plaza.<\/p>\n<p>Confused? If children are shorter than the set limit, they cannot experience the attraction. Disney will not bend on these restrictions as they are for safety purposes; in many cases, they have to do with the attraction seating and associated restraint capability. In some cases just because your child is tall enough to ride, doesn&#8217;t mean they are mature enough.<\/p>\n<p>Attractions with height restrictions will be designated like this: (H33) the H designates height restriction and the following number designates how many inches tall you must be in order to ride. In this example (H33) you must be 33 inches tall to ride. Cast members will measure those in question.<\/p>\n<p>Disney\u2019s ride policy\u00a0with children. This is so two people can be scanning at a time. Many people have a bad habit of just using the first one you come to and ignoring the second. This slows down the line. If the second one is open, use it please, there is room to go around and do so.<\/p>\n<p>If the one furthest from you opens up go around the person still using the first one. This keeps the line moving. Along the sides of the street, you will see classic Hollywood landmark stores representing a bygone era of Hollywood with its glitz and glamour.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As you begin to walk up Hollywood Boulevard look up to the right on top of the buildings, you\u2019ll see a cool billboard for the \u201cHollywood Canteen, Servicemen\u2019s Entertainment, Games and Refreshments\u201d with the image of a 40\u2019s GI and girl dancing.<\/p>\n<p>There is a large main plaza area at the far end of Hollywood Boulevard, where you\u2019ll find a reproduction of Grauman&#8217;s Chinese Theatre.
