class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Disney\u2019s California Adventure (DCA) is the newer of the two Disneyland theme parks. It opened on 8 February 2001, while the original Disneyland Park opened on 17 July 1955. When you enter you are transported to the land of promise, opportunity and glamour. Disney California Adventure is a journey from the California of yesterday to the California of today and a tribute to this land of dreams.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"In_this_Overview_I_use_the_following_Shortcuts\"><\/span>In this Overview I use the following Shortcuts:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Attractions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Height Restrictions &#8211;<\/strong> Some of the more thrilling attractions have height restrictions. If children are shorter than the set limit, they cannot experience the attraction. Disney will not bend on these restrictions as they are for safety purposes; in many cases they have to do with the attraction seating and associated restraint capability. In some cases just because your child is tall enough to ride, doesn&#8217;t mean they are mature enough.<\/p>\n<p>Attractions with height restrictions will be designated like this: (H33) the H designates height restriction and the following number designates how many inches tall you must be in order to ride. In this example (H33) you must be 33 inches tall to ride. Where all of Florida&#8217;s various locations are spread out and most drives between venues are 15 minutes long, Disneyland&#8217;s locations are all right next to each other, within walking distance.<\/p>\n<p>Disney&#8217;s California Adventure and the Disneyland Park are just steps from each other; their entrance gates are just 278 feet apart! They are separated by a common area called the Esplanade. The Esplanade is adjacent to S. Harbor Blvd on the east, while the west end of the Esplanade connects to the Downtown Disney entertainment district. Downtown Disney then extends further west part the Grand Californian Resort and Spa all the way to the Disneyland Hotel. Disneyland Drive runs north\/south through the property and goes under Downtown Disney.<\/p>\n<p>On-property guests will all walk to California Adventure from their Disney hotels. The walking routes to the mai entrance from the hotels all feed into Downtown Disney which then leads to the Esplanade.<\/p>\n<p>There are two entrances to California Adventure, the Main Entrance from the Esplanade and the Grand Californian Hotel entrance.<\/p>\n<p>The Grand Californian Hotel entrance is an entrance exclusively for those guests staying at Disney\u2019s Hotels. It is located towards the rear of the Hotel and enters the park in the Grizzly Peak area near Grizzly River Run.<\/p>\n<p>Guests from all Disney Hotels may follow the signs to the rear of the Grand Californian, where they will go through a security check and then enter the park. The line here is much shorter than you will experience at the front entrance and a valid hotel key is required.<\/p>\n<p>All other, non-Disney Hotel guests will enter at the Main Entrance.<\/p>\n<p>Most off-property guests who are walking or taking hotel shuttles will enter the Esplanade from the east. There are only a couple hotels from which you&#8217;d walk from the west side.<\/p>\n<p>Guests driving their personal vehicles will park in one of Disneyland&#8217;s parking structures and take the tram which drops them off at the Esplanade end of Disney Springs or they can walk and enter Disney Springs from the west.<\/p>\n<p>Disney California Adventure has a slightly different physical arrangement than the typical Disney theme park, such as Disneyland, Disney World\u2019s Magic Kingdom, or Disney\u2019s Animal Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>The main entrance deposits you at the north end of Buena Vista Street, you\u2019ll follow the street south to Carthay Circle where to the left you\u2019ll find a street leading to Hollywood Land and to the right one to Grizzly Peak.<\/p>\n<p>When you proceed straight across the circle you will find a road that runs through Performance Corridor and slowly curves to the right around Grizzly Peak on its way to the rear of the park. This walkway leads to the remaining Lands. Along the left side you will find the Avengers Canpus, Cars Land, San Fransokyo Square, and Pixar Pier. Then Paradise Gardens Park will be straight ahead. All the Lands are interconnected off of this main road\/walkway as well.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_23530\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23530\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23530\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Disney-California-Adventure-Entrance.jpg\" alt=\"Disney California Adventure Main Entrance\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Disney-California-Adventure-Entrance.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Disney-California-Adventure-Entrance-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Disney-California-Adventure-Entrance-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Disney-California-Adventure-Entrance-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-23530\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Disney California Adventure Main Entrance<\/p><\/div>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Main_Entrance\"><\/span>Main Entrance<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>As noted above, the main entrance to California Adventure is from the Esplanade, and the majority of guests enter here.<\/p>\n<p>After passing through the entrance turnstiles, you will be at the beginning of Buena Vista Street, which is the gateway to the rest of the park.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Alternate_Entrances\"><\/span>Alternate Entrances<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"315\" data-end=\"420\">Disney California Adventure has two alternate entrances, both connected to Disney\u2019s on-property hotels.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"422\" data-end=\"810\">The first and most popular is the <strong data-start=\"456\" data-end=\"492\">Grand Californian Hotel entrance<\/strong>, which provides direct access into the <strong data-start=\"532\" data-end=\"548\">Grizzly Peak<\/strong>area near <em data-start=\"559\" data-end=\"578\">Grizzly River Run<\/em>. This entrance is available exclusively to guests staying at one of the three official Disneyland Resort hotels. It\u2019s a beautifully themed entryway surrounded by pines and rockwork, leading straight into the park\u2019s natural heart.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"812\" data-end=\"1065\">Guests must present a valid <strong data-start=\"840\" data-end=\"858\">hotel room key<\/strong> and park admission to use this gate. Security screening takes place just outside the entrance, and lines here are typically much shorter than those at the park\u2019s main entrance \u2014 especially in the morning.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1067\" data-end=\"1447\">The <strong data-start=\"1071\" data-end=\"1101\">Pixar Place Hotel entrance<\/strong>, located near <em data-start=\"1116\" data-end=\"1136\">Goofy\u2019s Sky School<\/em> in the Pixar Pier area, <strong data-start=\"1161\" data-end=\"1206\">will permanently close on January 1, 2026<\/strong>. After that date, Pixar Place guests will need to walk through the <strong data-start=\"1274\" data-end=\"1301\">Grand Californian Hotel<\/strong> and use its Grizzly Peak entrance instead. All guests entering Downtown Disney and Disney\u2019s parks will have to pass through a bag check area prior to entering. There is an elevated foot rail to keep your feet off the floor. Each section of this huge simulator has three long rows of seats. You will strap into your seat and then be lifted up into the air where you will be suspended in front of a huge wide screen upon which the flyover scenes are displayed. Try to notice the scents that accompany many of the scenes!
