the rear half of Walt Disney World&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/epcot\/\">EPCOT<\/a>, is a change of pace from both the front of the park and the other Disney theme parks. World Showcase is comprised of 11 \u201cpavilions,\u201d each representing a different country. The pavilions are spread out on a promenade that circles the World Showcase Lagoon. In all, it is about a 1.2-mile <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world\/how-many-miles-is-epcot-going-to-put-on-my-feet\/\">walk<\/a> around the World Showcase.<\/p>\n<p>The World Showcase is located at the rear of EPCOT, behind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/epcot\/epcots-world-discovery\/\">World Discovery<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/epcot\/epcots-world-celebration\/\">World Celebration<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/epcot\/epcots-world-nature\/\">World Nature<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The World Showcase is the main home to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/epcot\/military-disney-tips-guide-to-the-epcot-festivals\/\">EPCOT&#8217;s many Festivals<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29069\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/EPCOTs-New-Worlds.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"601\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/EPCOTs-New-Worlds.jpg 601w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/EPCOTs-New-Worlds-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 601px) 100vw, 601px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Each pavilion is designed to be representative of that country and to make you feel as if you are there. Each features <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/disney-military-discounts\/live-entertainment-in-walt-disney-worlds-epcot\/\">entertainment<\/a>, dining, and shopping unique to their culture. Some also have attractions, short tourism movies, or street performers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The World Showcase is much beloved by military families, as many of the countries represented are ones that we have spent time in. Each country is staffed primarily by residents of that country who are in the US to work for a period of time as a Disney intern. The area between China and Germany contains an area called the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/epcot\/the-outpost-in-the-epcot-world-showcase\/\">Outpost<\/a>, an African-themed Quick Service food location and several freestanding merchandise shops. This area was once planned to be an Africa Pavilion, though those plans changed with the advent of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/disneys-animal-kingdom\/\">Disney&#8217;s Animal Kingdom<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As you tour the World Showcase, you\u2019ll enjoy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/disney-military-discounts\/live-entertainment-in-walt-disney-worlds-epcot\/\">entertainment<\/a> provided by various street performers and bands in set locations. Some of the entertainers you\u2019ll see are jugglers, mini plays with audience participation, Japanese drummers, and a band or two.<\/p>\n<p>The World Showcase boasts some very good restaurants, which are not to be missed.<\/p>\n<p>Transportation is available from the front of the World Showcase to the rear via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/disney-transportation-overview\/set-sail-with-walt-disney-worlds-friendships-a-guide-to-scenic-water-transport\/\">water taxis called Friendships<\/a>. Inside, you\u2019ll enter into a nighttime scene in a Mexican shopping plaza, the Plaza de Los Amigos, with carts and shops offering Mexican jewelry, pottery, clothing, and leather goods. As you go further in, you\u2019ll find a tequila bar, restaurant, and boat ride. At the top, you\u2019ll pass over a drawbridge. On the outside of the curve is the Outpost. Here you\u2019ll find a Quick Service food location, African souvenirs, as well as face painting and hair braiding.<\/p>\n<p>This area was once the placeholder to a full-fledged pavilion representing Equatorial Africa for the World Showcase, but Disney went all out and created Disney\u2019s Animal Kingdom instead. While it is not a bad concept to put a new &#8220;theme park&#8221; spin on the story instead of just repeating the original, this is not the Lefou of the cartoon version. While animated just like the original, the visual character is combined with an audio of the overly feminine Josh Gadd version of the live action movie.
