wellness, and fitness.<\/p>\n<p>But today, you&#8217;ll see almost no trace of this pavilion, just construction walls with its curved, golden roof beyond. Read on to learn more about this pavilion and what happened to it.<\/p>\n<p>See my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/epcot\/\">EPCOT page<\/a> for more on all the different name changes of this theme park over the years.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Ambiance_of_The_Wonders_of_Life_Pavilion\"><\/span>The Ambiance of The Wonders of Life Pavilion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Wonders of Life Pavilion was located between The Universe of Energy (later Ellen&#8217;s Energy Adventure and now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/epcot\/guardians-of-the-galaxy-cosmic-rewind\/\">Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind<\/a>) and Horizons (now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/epcot\/the-mission-space-pavilion-in-epcots-world-discovery\/\">Mission Space<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33879\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-with-DNA.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"891\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-with-DNA.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-with-DNA-202x300.jpg 202w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-with-DNA-539x800.jpg 539w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of the path leading to the pavilion you&#8217;d encounter a large sculpture of a double helix representing a strand of DNA.<\/p>\n<p>There was a long sloping ramp that you needed to ascend it order to enter the pavilion which was entirely housed inside the air-conditioned pavilion building. Inside the high ceiling was the underside of the dome very far above the floor.<\/p>\n<p>The pavilion had a &#8220;Health Fair&#8221; feel with the attractions distributed around the floor space.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Attractions_in_The_Wonders_of_Life_Pavilion\"><\/span>Attractions in\u00a0The Wonders of Life Pavilion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Wonders of Life had a couple of big attractions and several lesser ones.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33874\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Body-Wars.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"601\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Body-Wars.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Body-Wars-600x451.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Body-Wars-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Body-Wars-768x577.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Body Wars &#8211;<\/strong> A motion simulator ride taking guests on a Fantastic Voyage-like trip through the heart, lungs, and brain. The film shown was directed by Leonard Nimoy, and starred actors Tim Matheson, Elisabeth Shue, and Dakin Matthews. This ride was the first thrill ride at Epcot Center and used the same motion simulator as Star Tours at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/disneys-hollywood-studios\/\">Disney&#8217;s Hollywood Studios<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33878\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Cranium-Command.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"573\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Cranium-Command.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Cranium-Command-600x430.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Cranium-Command-300x215.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Cranium-Command-768x550.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cranium Command &#8211;<\/strong> A theater show with audio-animatronic actors and a movie. The show explained the functions of the brain and its interaction with the human body.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Frontiers of Medicine &#8211;<\/strong> Played stories about medicine and the brain on small televisions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Coach&#8217;s Corner &#8211;<\/strong> Guests could swing a bat while a professional player gave tips.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goofy About Health &#8211;<\/strong> A multimedia show about healthy living hosted by Goofy, using clips from his cartoons.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fitness Fairgrounds &#8211;<\/strong> Tested guests&#8217; athletic abilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sensory Funhouse &#8211;<\/strong> An interactive playground which tested guest&#8217;s sensory abilities, including an Ames roomAudio Antics &#8211; A listening skill game which involved regular sounds and sounds that were out of place, which the listener had to figure out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Making of Me &#8211;<\/strong> A short movie about birth and life starring Martin Short.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wonder Cycles &#8211;<\/strong> Stationary bicycles with a television attached. The faster riders pedaled, the faster the video played. The bicycles would take the rider on a short tour, with a selection of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100th Anniversary Rose Parade Pasadena, California<\/li>\n<li>Disneyland in California &#8211; The rider could see that day&#8217;s park patrons watching the camera pass and moving out of the way for the rider.<\/li>\n<li>Take a Little Ride: Microworld Bigtown, U.S.A.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Anacomical Players &#8211;<\/strong> A live show that featured improvisational skits on health and nutrition.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33873\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Interior.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"538\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Interior.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Interior-600x404.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Interior-300x202.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Interior-768x516.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Dining_in_The_Wonders_of_Life_Pavilion\"><\/span>Dining in\u00a0The Wonders of Life Pavilion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There was only one dining location in The Wonders of life called\u00a0<strong>Pure &amp; Simple<\/strong> that offered &#8220;Guilt-Free Goodies&#8221; such as oat-bran waffles with fruit toppings. frozen yogurt, smoothies, muffins, and fruit juice. \u00a0The lunch menu featured things like veggie pizza, soup, Caesar salad, and chicken wraps.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Shopping_in_The_Wonders_of_Life_Pavilion\"><\/span>Shopping in\u00a0The Wonders of Life Pavilion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There was one merch location as well called\u00a0Well and Goods Limited. There is not much info available now about this shop, but it&#8217;s safe to assume that it offered items geared towards good health and healthy cooking.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"History_of_The_Wonders_of_Life_Pavilion\"><\/span>History of\u00a0The Wonders of Life Pavilion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33866\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"759\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-237x300.jpg 237w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/h2>\n<p>Back in the day, Disney did not foot the bill themselves for new theme park construction, they got sponsors to cover or help with the cost. In return the sponsoring corporation got billing as the sponsor, typically a corporate discount on tickets for their employees, and often a private lounge for their employees in the pavilion\/attraction.<\/p>\n<p>The construction and first 11 years of operation \u00a0of and Wonders of Life was sponsored by Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. (MetLife).<\/p>\n<p>However, MetLife dropped its sponsorship of Wonders of Life in June of 2001. Disney continued to operate the pavilion and it remained open until 2004 when the pavilion became seasonal, opening only during high attendance periods of the year when EPCOT needed additional guest capacity.<\/p>\n<p>After the 2006 Christmas season, The Wonders of Life closed its doors permanently.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33868\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Dring-Food-and-Wine.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Dring-Food-and-Wine.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Dring-Food-and-Wine-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Dring-Food-and-Wine-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Epcot-Center-Wonders-of-Life-Dring-Food-and-Wine-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the years that followed, The pavilion began operating seasonally in 2007 as the Welcome Center for the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival and the Epcot International Food &amp; Wine Festival.<\/p>\n<p>For these very popular events, it hosted seminars, videos, and presentations. It was the main Festival merchandise location during the two festivals yearly.
