Changed!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>For years, Rafiki\u2019s Planet Watch was one of the quieter, more educational corners of Disney\u2019s Animal Kingdom. Guests could take the Wildlife Express Train from Africa, visit Conservation Station, see animal care areas, and stop by the Affection Section for a small petting zoo-style experience.<\/p>\n<p>That version of Rafiki\u2019s Planet Watch closed on February 23, 2026, as Disney prepared the area for a major refurbishment. To reach it, guests boarded the Wildlife Express Train near Harambe Market and rode out to Conservation Station.<\/p>\n<p>That same location is now home to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/disneys-animal-kingdom\/blueys-wild-world-at-conservation-station\/\">Bluey\u2019s Wild World at Conservation Station<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Whats_Changing\"><\/span>What\u2019s Changing?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The biggest thing to understand is that this is not simply a small overlay or character meet-and-greet. Disney has significantly reworked the former Rafiki\u2019s Planet Watch experience into a new family-focused area built around Bluey, Bingo, conservation, and Australian animals.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the major changes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Bluey\u2019s Wild World has replaced much of the former guest experience<\/strong> inside Conservation Station.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Wildlife Express Train remains<\/strong> the only way to access the area.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Conservation Station remains part of the experience,<\/strong> including animal care, veterinary, nutrition, science, and conservation elements.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Affection Section has been reimagined as Jumping Junction,<\/strong> featuring Australian animals such as kangaroos and wallabies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Animation Experience has permanently closed<\/strong> and is no longer offered at this location.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A Virtual Queue is being used during the initial opening period<\/strong> for access to Bluey\u2019s Wild World, the Wildlife Express Train, Jumping Junction, and Conservation Station experiences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In other words, the educational heart of the area is still there, but the guest-facing experience now has a much stronger preschool and family play focus.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Queue\"><\/span>The Queue<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Rafikis-Planet-Watch-Entrance.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35692\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Rafikis-Planet-Watch-Entrance.jpg\" alt=\"Former entrance to Rafiki's Planet Watch at Disney's Animal Kingdom\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Rafikis-Planet-Watch-Entrance.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Rafikis-Planet-Watch-Entrance-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Rafikis-Planet-Watch-Entrance-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Before the 2026 refurbishment, guests entered a simple but pleasant queue area at the Wildlife Express Train station in Africa. This shaded area featured African theming and wildlife signage, and the line usually moved at a steady pace.<\/p>\n<p>Now that the area has reopened as Bluey\u2019s Wild World at Conservation Station, the queue process has changed. During the initial opening period, Disney is using a Virtual Queue through the My Disney Experience app. Guests should check current procedures before visiting, especially if Bluey\u2019s Wild World is a must-do for their family.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Train_Ride\"><\/span>The Train Ride<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Train-to-Rafikis-Planet-Watch.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35700\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Train-to-Rafikis-Planet-Watch.jpg\" alt=\"Wildlife Express Train to Conservation Station at Disney's Animal Kingdom\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Train-to-Rafikis-Planet-Watch.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Train-to-Rafikis-Planet-Watch-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Train-to-Rafikis-Planet-Watch-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A ride on the Wildlife Express Train has always been the only way to access this area of Disney\u2019s Animal Kingdom. The open-air train features side-facing bench seating and gives guests a rare look at some of the park\u2019s behind-the-scenes animal care areas.<\/p>\n<p>The journey takes about seven minutes and remains part of the experience today. Guests could learn to draw a Disney character in a guided class inspired by real animals and Disney animation.<\/p>\n<p>That experience permanently closed as part of the 2026 refurbishment. The same general idea applies to the new Bluey\u2019s Wild World at Conservation Station experience. Animal Kingdom has needed more truly kid-focused experiences for younger families, and Bluey is a very smart fit if Disney keeps the animal care and conservation message strong.<\/p>\n<p>My advice is simple: if you are looking for the old quiet, low-crowd Rafiki\u2019s Planet Watch, that version is gone.
