But many people wonder how much walking they will have to do.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also a very big one with lots of walking required. EPCOT is 3 times the size of Magic Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Walt Disney World Parks Ranked by Size<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Disney&#8217;s Animal Kingdom &#8211; 540 Acres<\/li>\n<li>EPCOT &#8211; 300 Acres<\/li>\n<li>Disney&#8217;s Hollywood Studios &#8211; 135 Acres<\/li>\n<li>Magic Kingdom &#8211; 107 Acres<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Note: lots of the Animal Kingdom&#8217;s size is wide open nature areas for the animals to roam in (the Kilimanjaro Safari)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Walt Disney World Parks Ranked by Miles of Walkways<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>EPCOT &#8211; 4.85 Miles<\/li>\n<li>Disney&#8217;s Animal Kingdom &#8211; 2.88 Miles<\/li>\n<li>Magic Kingdom &#8211; 2.71 Miles<\/li>\n<li>Disney&#8217;s Hollywood Studios &#8211; 1.68 Miles<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For example it is 1.3 miles around EPCOT&#8217;s World Showcase Lagoon just by itself. That&#8217;s almost a many miles of walkways as the Magic Kingdom has in total.<\/p>\n<p><em>Walking Distances computed with Google Earth.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"EPCOTs_Layout\"><\/span>EPCOT&#8217;s Layout<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>For most of its history EPCOT has been divided into Future World and World Showcase. But in 2019 EPCOT began a\u00a0multi-year makeover for the Walt Disney World 50-year anniversary in 2021. The entirety of Future World would be broken up into 3 new lands, World Discovery, World Celebration, and World \u00a0Nature. This naming convention blends with he existing World Showcase. World Celebration is straight ahead with the World Showcase further straight ahead to the south. World Discovery will be to your left (the east) and World Nature will be to your right (the west).<\/p>\n<p>Epcot was in the midst of this makeover when covid hit. Many plans were changed or scrapped due to money shortages. Construction stopped and then restarted slowly. As of early 2022 major construction is still under way with big sections of the center of Future World (the new World Celebration blocked off). That is taking the most logical route to in order to visit them all with minimal backtracking. This distance is measured from the tapstile\u00a0entrance and does not take into account getting to that point, for instance it is a quarter mile from the furthest Disney bus stop to the entrance tapstiles (tapstiles are the ticket scanners at the entry). EPCOT has a lot of pathways that lead here and there that offer many options as to what walking path to take.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Shortcuts_and_Rides\"><\/span>Shortcuts and Rides<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_23875\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23875\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23875\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/EPCOT-Friendship.jpg\" alt=\"World Showcase FriendShip\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/EPCOT-Friendship.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/EPCOT-Friendship-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/EPCOT-Friendship-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/EPCOT-Friendship-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-23875\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">World Showcase FriendShip<\/p><\/div>\n<p>With all the walking that you&#8217;ll need to do, it smart to cut it down as much as you can!<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few ways to do so.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Get_a_ride\"><\/span>Get a ride!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Years ago Disney had a small double decker bus that circled the World Showcase and stopped at each country. You could ride this bus for free as much as you wanted to. Sadly, this is long gone a victim of the crowds walking on the walkways. It just wasn&#8217;t safe to operate any more.<\/p>\n<p>But you can still get a ride from the front of the World Showcase to the rear on EPCOT&#8217;s\u00a0Friendships. These are water taxis that cruise continually from docks at the front and back of the World Showcase Lagoon.<\/p>\n<p>There are 2 routes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From near the entrance to World Showcase and Germany<\/li>\n<li>From near the entrance to World Showcase and Morocco<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Note: Due to manning shortages, only the Morocco route is running at this time.<\/p>\n<p>The 5-10 minute ride on a Friendship boat will knock 0.33 miles off of your walk from the front to the back. You will of course skip a couple countries on the way, Mexico, Norway, and China on the Germany route and Canada, UK, and France on the Morocco route.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Take_a_Shortcut\"><\/span>Take a Shortcut!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_22614\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22614\" class=\"size-full wp-image-22614\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Epcot-Center-Spine.jpg\" alt=\"Walt Disney World's Epcot\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Epcot-Center-Spine.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Epcot-Center-Spine-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Epcot-Center-Spine-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Epcot-Center-Spine-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-22614\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Main Path into World Showcase (from World Showcase)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>There are several shortcuts to be had when walking around EPCOT. Always look for the shortest path.<\/p>\n<p>There are 3 paths that lead to the World Showcase. Three of these are from the front of the park<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The main path from World Celebration to the north end of World Showcase<\/li>\n<li>From\u00a0Journey Into Imagination to a spot 300 feet to the west of where the main path ends<\/li>\n<li>From Test Track to a spot 400 feet east of where the main path ends<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These side paths also connect to the main path and in some situations it may be shorter to cross over based on your starting and ending locations.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Choose_Your_Entrance\"><\/span>Choose Your Entrance!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_23980\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23980\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23980\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Epcot-International-Gateway-from-Disney-Skyliner.jpg\" alt=\"EPCOT's International Gateway from the Disney Skyliner\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Epcot-International-Gateway-from-Disney-Skyliner.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Epcot-International-Gateway-from-Disney-Skyliner-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Epcot-International-Gateway-from-Disney-Skyliner-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Epcot-International-Gateway-from-Disney-Skyliner-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-23980\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Epcot&#8217;s International Gateway from the Disney Skyliner<\/p><\/div>\n<p>There are two entrances to Epcot, the Main Entrance and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-theme-parks\/epcot-international-gateway\/\">International Gateway<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The third path leads from the Epcot Resort Area to EPCOT&#8217;s International Gateway back entrance that opens into World Showcase between the UK and France.<\/p>\n<p>Entering the park here is a step saver for those who want to focus on the World Showcase for its Festivals or headliner attractions like Remy&#8217;s Ratatouille Adventure or Elsa and Anna&#8217;s Frozen Everafter. Entering here cuts out the long walk from the front of the park.<\/p>\n<p>The International Gateway was originally an entrance for those staying at EPCOT&#8217;s Deluxe Resorts, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-resorts\/disneys-beach-club-resort\/\">Beach Club Resort<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-resorts\/disneys-yacht-club-resort\/\">Yacht Club Resort<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-resorts\/disneys-boardwalk-inn\/\">BoardWalk Inn<\/a>, as well as the Walt Disney World\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-resorts\/the-walt-disney-world-swan-and-dolphin-resorts\/\">Swan and Dolphin Resorts<\/a>. Since the opening of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-worlds-skyliner\/\">Disney Skyliner<\/a> Station at the International Gateway guests from Disney\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-disney-vacation-club-resorts\/disneys-riviera-resort\/\">Riviera Resort<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-resorts\/disneys-caribbean-beach-resort\/\">Caribbean Beach Resort<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-resorts\/disneys-art-of-animation-resort\/\">Art of Animation Resort<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-world-resorts\/disneys-pop-century-resort\/\">Pop Century Resort<\/a> also have this option.
