Shades of Green released an update which I&#8217;ve copied at the bottom. AND how to voice your displeasure with Disney.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This will be a permanent closure of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/disney-military-discounts\/walk-from-shades-of-green-to-disneys-polynesian-village-resort\/\">popular walkway<\/a>\u00a0that many have used for years due to the ongoing construction of Floridian Way (through 2027 according to Shades of Green), which Shades of Green is located off of, and the eventual widening of Floridian Way into a 4-lane divided road without a pedestrian crossing.<\/p>\n<p>Disney has been engaged for the last several years in upgrading the roadways in the Magic Kingdom area, first working on the World Drive inbound lanes on the opposite side of the Transportation and Ticket Center form Shades of Green, but now the upgrades to Floridian Way and World Drive have begun to effect the Military Only, Disney World Resort.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Popular_Nicety\"><\/span>A Popular Nicety<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_18022\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18022\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18022\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Shades-of-Green-Polynesian-Walk.jpg\" alt=\"Walk from Shades of Green to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Shades-of-Green-Polynesian-Walk.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Shades-of-Green-Polynesian-Walk-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-18022\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Shades of Green&#8217;s Polynesian Walkway<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The walkway from Shades of Green to the Polynesian Village Resort had many fans!<\/p>\n<p>People liked to use the walkway for many reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To dine or Shop at the Poly<\/li>\n<li>To catch the monorail to the Magic Kingdom or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/disney-transportation-overview\/walt-disney-worlds-transportation-and-ticket-center\/\">Transportation and Ticket Center<\/a> (and on to EPCOT)\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Thus missing the huge security lines from the parking lots at the TTC (where Shades buses drop their guests)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>To take the boat service to the magic Kingdom<\/li>\n<li>To continue the walk all the way to the Magic Kingdom via the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/transportation\/walk-between-disneys-polynesian-village-resort-and-disneys-grand-floridian-resort-and-spa\/\">Poly-Grand Floridian<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/transportation\/walk-between-disneys-grand-floridian-resort-and-spa-and-the-magic-kingdom\/\">GF-MK<\/a> walks<\/li>\n<li>Many with scooters took this route vs waiting on a bus (that can only take 2 scooters at a time)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_28192\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Floridian-Way-Construction-Lg.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-28192\" class=\"wp-image-28192 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Floridian-Way-Construction-Post.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"277\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Floridian-Way-Construction-Post.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Floridian-Way-Construction-Post-600x208.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Floridian-Way-Construction-Post-300x104.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Floridian-Way-Construction-Post-768x266.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-28192\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Shades of Green at top of pic, Poly at bottom. Click for a bigger version<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>I used the walkway myself all the time!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be clear, it is the crosswalk that will close! the sidewalk along the driveway to Shades of Green and the Golf Courses will remain.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that Shades of Green operates a &#8220;limited&#8221; bus service to some points on Disney property. All locations where the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/shades-of-green-resort-at-walt-disney-world\/shades-of-greens-walt-disney-world-bus-stops\/\">Shades of Green buses have stops<\/a> are less than ideal. Guests bound for the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are dropped at the Transportation and Ticket Center where they have to take additional Disney transportation to the theme parks. Via Monorail or ferry boat for the three quarters of a mile trip to the Magic Kingdom or to EPCOT via the over 4 mile long EPCOT monorail line.<\/p>\n<p>Lines for security at the TTC are also quite long as this is where all guests arriving for the Magic Kingdom via car process through security.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Disney_Guilty_not_Shades_of_Green\"><\/span>Disney Guilty not Shades of Green<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It should be noted that this is a decision made solely by Disney and not Shades of Green, as part of a roadway &#8220;improvement&#8221; project. They already run every 20 minutes. I guess they will be every 10 now&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Shades of Green has NOT said that they will advocate with Disney to get Free Theme Park Parking restored for Shades&#8217; guests, or stop charging overnight parking fees in their own parking structure which has seen outrageous price increases over the years even though the structure was paid for long ago. Permits for this particular portion of the project were filed with the county in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>But Shades of Green waited until 27 days prior to the closure to notify their guests (via facebook and emails to those with reservations). This ridiculously short notice makes it extremely difficult to impossible to make other arrangements. Some folks went so far as to thank those that said they would not return for opening up availability for those who don&#8217;t care about the walk.<\/p>\n<p>People also critiqued Shades of Green&#8217;s bus service which will now have to pick up the slack, while others defended it.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Voice_your_Displeasure_to_Disney\"><\/span>Voice your Displeasure to Disney<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When I first posted yesterday, I neglected to mention that you can voice your displeasure with Disney over this slight to the military community.<\/p>\n<p>See my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/how-to-contact-disney-and-disney-officials\/\">Contact Disney Officials Page<\/a> for how.<\/p>\n<p>When voicing your displeasure, also provide solutions. It offers some OK to ridiculous workarounds to navigate to the Polynesian.<\/p>\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xdj266r x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><em>APRIL 5 UPDATE: We\u2019ve read your feedback and understand that change is difficult. We were happy to offer this benefit to our guests for many years and we are also disappointed to learn it will no longer be an option. Here are the answers to some of your questions:<\/em><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><strong><em>1. Will the walkway closure be temporary during the road construction or permanent?<\/em><\/strong><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><em>No, the walkway closure will be permanent.
