I was stationed in Ohio for many years, and we flew into Orlando several times back then. We then transferred to the Florida Panhandle and drove to Disney World for 9 years. But we&#8217;ve been back in Ohio for quite a few years now, and we fly into Orlando multiple times a year.<\/p>\n<p>When not staying at a Disney Resort, we&#8217;ve rented cars at the airport and used airport limos.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Transportation_Options_for_Shades_of_Green\"><\/span>Transportation Options for Shades of Green<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_23716\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23716\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23716\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Sunshine-Flyer-Arrives-at-All-Orlando-International-Airoprt.jpg\" alt=\"Sunshine-Flyer at Orlando International\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Sunshine-Flyer-Arrives-at-All-Orlando-International-Airoprt.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Sunshine-Flyer-Arrives-at-All-Orlando-International-Airoprt-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Sunshine-Flyer-Arrives-at-All-Orlando-International-Airoprt-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Sunshine-Flyer-Arrives-at-All-Orlando-International-Airoprt-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-23716\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sunshine-Flyer at Orlando International<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Here are the various options for your\u00a0transportation from Orlando International Airport to Shades of Green:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mears Connect Powered by Sunshine &#8211; Bus Service to multiple resorts after up to a 20-minute wait, with up to 6 stops before your resort<\/li>\n<li>Mears Express &#8211; Shared van service, with a short to zero wait time and fewer stops prior to arriving at your resort<\/li>\n<li>Limo Service &#8211; Private car\/SUV\/van service, from baggage claim, zero wait (my preferred option)<\/li>\n<li>Taxi<\/li>\n<li>Bus Service<\/li>\n<li>Rental Car<\/li>\n<li>Uber\u00a0or Lyft<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Update 14 July 2023 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/transportation\/mears-connect-and-sunshine-flyer-merger\/\">Mears Connect and the Sunshine Flyer have merged<\/a>. <\/em><\/strong><em>They are now operating as Mears Connect Driven by Sunshine. The Sunshine Flyer website is still active, but the content has switched over to match the Mears site<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mears Connect is the successor to Disney&#8217;s Magical Express, which ended service at the end of 2021. They offer a bus service identical to the Magical Express, as they were the actual company running the Magical Express for Disney, and a shared van service that goes directly to your resort. See my full <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/mears-connect-walt-disney-world-airport-transportation\/\">Mears Connect Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Sunshine Flyer was the second replacement service for Disney&#8217;s Magical Express.<\/p>\n<p>Limo Service \u2013 There are numerous limo services available to take you to Walt Disney World. I like Happy Limo.<\/p>\n<p>Taxi \u2013 Taxis at the airport are about $75 each way to Disney World.<\/p>\n<p>Car Rental &#8211; You might be able to find a good military rate. I\u2019m a USAA member, and they have discounts negotiated with all the major car rental companies.<\/p>\n<p>Uber and Lyft &#8211; are great alternatives to traditional transportation companies. Uber and Lyft fares are currently starting at around $30 one way to WDW.<\/p>\n<p>Disney World&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/transportation\/walt-disney-worlds-minnie-van-service\/\">Minnie Van Service<\/a> used to provide airport service prior to the 2020 shutdown. As of 2024-2025 this service has degraded, with long waits for your bus reported and up to 6 stops at various resorts on Disney property (you might be the last stop), causing very long travel times.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll need to pick up your bags at Baggage Claim and drag them to the Mears Connect location on the transportation level of Terminal B.<\/p>\n<p>See my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/transportation\/your-guide-to-orlando-international-airport\/\">Orlando International Airport Overview<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Use Uber or Lyft<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Uber and Lyft are great alternatives to traditional transportation services. Your driver will meet you at Baggage Claim and assist you with your luggage to your car, SUV, or van, depending on the size of your party and the vehicle you picked. You&#8217;ll then head directly to your Disney Resort or Shades of Green. I like to use Happy Limo. Prices vary between companies but are in the $225 to $300 price range round-trip (plus tips).<\/p>\n<p>Mears Connect &#8211; You&#8217;ll still need to pick up your bags at Baggage Claim and drag them to the Mears Connect location on the transportation level of Terminal B. After checking in at the Mears counter, you might be directed right to a van to get aboard, or you might have to wait a short while. Your driver will load your bags into the van. At this time, one of 5 things will occur,<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You might be joining 1 or several other parties already in the van, and then depart<\/li>\n<li>You might be joining 1 or several other parties already in the van, wait for more parties to join you, and then depart<\/li>\n<li>You might be the first party in the van, then wait for more parties, and then depart<\/li>\n<li>You might be the first party in the van, then wait for more parties to join you, wait a while longer, \u00a0and then depart because the expected parties are late<\/li>\n<li>Best case scenario, you&#8217;ll get in the van by yourselves and depart<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Mears Connect costs $250 round trip for up to 4 people, extra passengers are $55 each.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Use Disney World&#8217;s Minnie Vans &#8211; If they ever come back.\u00a0<\/strong>Minnie Vans started service for concierge guests in 2023, but service for the remaining guests has not restarted.<\/p>\n<p>The Minnie Van airport shuttle used to provide service between the Orlando International Airport and any Walt Disney World Resort hotel including Shades of Green!<\/p>\n<p>The Minnie Van pick-up location was near the baggage claim escalators.<\/p>\n<p>Each vehicle accommodates up to 6 Guests, 8 medium-sized suitcases, and can be equipped with up to 3 complimentary car seats.<\/p>\n<p>The cost of the Minnie Van airport shuttle was $155 each way; gratuity not included.<\/p>\n<p>The Minnie Van airport shuttle operates from 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM daily.<\/p>\n<p>Service could also have been arranged for other local airports for other rates by calling (407) 828-3500.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_can_I_get_to_Other_Destinations_like_Universal_Studios_SeaWorld_or_Legoland\"><\/span>How can I get to Other Destinations like Universal Studios, SeaWorld, or Legoland?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!--more-->As far as getting to Universal Orlando, SeaWorld, other destinations like Legoland Florida, and Kennedy Space Center\u00a0from Shades of Green you have a few options.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Getting_around_WDW\"><\/span>Getting around WDW<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Once you are at Shades, there are lots of transportation options.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shades has its own small fleet of buses to take you around Disney World, and you can use Disney&#8217;s free transportation options (Buses, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/disney-transportation-overview\/soaring-above-the-magic-the-enchanting-world-of-disneys-monorails\/\">Monorail<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/disney-transportation-overview\/set-sail-with-walt-disney-worlds-friendships-a-guide-to-scenic-water-transport\/\">Boats<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/walt-disney-worlds-skyliner\/\">Skyliner<\/a>) without staying at a Disney Resort.
