Airport (MCO) can have their checked bags transferred between MCO and their Disney hotel. On arrival day, that means skipping baggage claim and heading directly to Walt Disney World. On departure day, you can hand over your checked bags at your resort and see them again at baggage claim when you reach your final destination.<\/p>\n<p>The pilot began in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/transportation\/airport-luggage-transfer-service-returns-to-disney-world-in-a-very-limited-fashion\/\">April 2025<\/a> with outbound Southwest Airlines luggage service at Disney&#8217;s Value Resorts. Disney added inbound service later that year, American Airlines and United Airlines joined the program in May 2026, and Disney&#8217;s Caribbean Beach Resort became the first participating Moderate Resort in August 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s how Disney&#8217;s Airport Luggage Transfer works today, including participating airlines and resorts, registration requirements, departure-day procedures, and some lessons we&#8217;ve learned from using Disney&#8217;s luggage transfer services ourselves.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mdt-highlight\" style=\"border: 3px solid #0479C2; background: #F1F8FE; padding: 16px 18px; margin: 16px 0 24px; border-radius: 8px; line-height: 1.5;\"><strong style=\"display: block; font-size: 1.05em; margin-bottom: 6px;\">August 2026 Update \u2013 Caribbean Beach Resort Added<\/strong><br \/>\nBeginning <strong>August 18, 2026<\/strong>, Disney&#8217;s Airport Luggage Transfer pilot expanded to <strong>Disney&#8217;s Caribbean Beach Resort<\/strong> for eligible arriving and departing domestic flights through Orlando International Airport (MCO). Caribbean Beach is the first Disney Moderate Resort included in the program, joining Disney&#8217;s five Value Resorts. They worked together from the guest&#8217;s perspective, but they were separate operations.<\/p>\n<p>The current Airport Luggage Transfer pilot is provided by <strong>BagCheck<\/strong>. It handles your luggage only. Transportation between Orlando International Airport and Walt Disney World is <strong>not<\/strong> included.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Participating_Airlines_and_Disney_Resorts\"><\/span>Participating Airlines and Disney Resorts<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The service is currently available for eligible <strong>domestic flights<\/strong> through Orlando International Airport on these participating airlines:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>American Airlines<\/li>\n<li>Southwest Airlines<\/li>\n<li>United Airlines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additional airlines could be added as Disney continues the pilot program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Participating Disney Resort hotels include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Disney Moderate Resort:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Disney&#8217;s Caribbean Beach Resort<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Disney Value Resorts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Disney&#8217;s All-Star Movies Resort<\/li>\n<li>Disney&#8217;s All-Star Music Resort<\/li>\n<li>Disney&#8217;s All-Star Sports Resort<\/li>\n<li>Disney&#8217;s Art of Animation Resort<\/li>\n<li>Disney&#8217;s Pop Century Resort<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Shades of Green is not included in the program. However, if you have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/disney-tips\/split-stays-walt-disney-world-resorts-shades-green\/\">split stay<\/a> that also includes one of the participating Disney Resorts, you can use the service for an eligible arrival, departure, or both.<\/p>\n<p>Disney&#8217;s official information and registration form are available here: <a href=\"https:\/\/disneyworld.disney.go.com\/guest-services\/airport-luggage-transfer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Airport Luggage Transfer at Disney<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_the_Inbound_Luggage_Service_Works_Arriving_at_Walt_Disney_World\"><\/span>How the Inbound Luggage Service Works: Arriving at Walt Disney World<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The inbound service lets you skip baggage claim at Orlando International Airport and head directly to Walt Disney World while BagCheck handles your checked luggage.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Register for Airport Luggage Transfer before your trip.<\/strong>You can register from <strong>30 days until 24 hours before your departing flight to Orlando<\/strong>.You&#8217;ll need:\n<ul>\n<li>Your Disney Resort confirmation number.<\/li>\n<li>Your flight confirmation number.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After registering, you&#8217;ll receive a confirmation email containing information about the service and a link you can use to track your luggage.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Watch for your Disney luggage tags.<\/strong>If you register more than <strong>7 days before your flight<\/strong>, BagCheck will mail luggage tags to the address you provided.If you register less than 7 days before your flight, you won&#8217;t receive the tags in the mail, but Disney says your bags can still be transferred to your participating resort. You&#8217;ll also still be able to track your luggage through the link in your confirmation email.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Check in for your flight as normal.<\/strong>Check in through your airline&#8217;s website or app and pay any applicable checked-baggage fees.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Check your bags at your home airport.<\/strong>Follow your airline&#8217;s normal checked-baggage procedure when you arrive at your departure airport.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Skip baggage claim when you reach Orlando.<\/strong>When your flight arrives at MCO, you don&#8217;t need to wait at baggage claim for the luggage you&#8217;ve registered with the program. Head directly to Walt Disney World using whatever airport transportation you&#8217;ve arranged.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Retrieve your bags at your Disney Resort.<\/strong>Disney says it can take <strong>up to four hours from your flight&#8217;s arrival time<\/strong> for your luggage to reach your resort.Once you&#8217;re at your hotel, use your in-room phone to contact Luggage Assistance or visit Luggage Assistance in the resort lobby area to request your bags.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"mdt-highlight\" style=\"border: 3px solid #0479C2; background: #F1F8FE; padding: 16px 18px; margin: 16px 0 24px; border-radius: 8px; line-height: 1.5;\"><strong style=\"display: block; font-size: 1.05em; margin-bottom: 6px;\">Keep These Items With You<\/strong><br \/>\nEven though your checked bags are being transferred for you, don&#8217;t pack anything in them that you can&#8217;t comfortably be without for several hours. Keep <strong>medications, electronics, important documents, valuables, and anything you&#8217;ll need immediately after arrival<\/strong> in your carry-on luggage.<\/div>\n<h4>What If Your Flight Arrives Very Late?<\/h4>\n<p>If a delayed flight arrives at Orlando International Airport after 11:00 p.m., Disney gives you two choices. You can retrieve your luggage yourself at baggage claim, or you can allow BagCheck to deliver it to your participating Disney Resort within four hours of your arrival.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_the_Outbound_Luggage_Service_Works_Leaving_Walt_Disney_World\"><\/span>How the Outbound Luggage Service Works: Leaving Walt Disney World<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The resort-to-airport side of the program lets you turn over your checked bags before leaving Walt Disney World and travel to MCO without hauling them along with you.<\/p>\n<p>One particularly nice improvement since the pilot began is the departure-day timing. The very restrictive overnight drop-off rules used during the early version of the pilot are gone.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Check in for your flight online.<\/strong>Beginning 24 hours before departure, check in using your airline&#8217;s website or mobile app and pay any applicable checked-baggage fees.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Have your boarding passes ready.<\/strong>The current Airport Luggage Transfer service does <strong>not<\/strong> print boarding passes. Have your mobile or other boarding passes ready before you turn over your luggage.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Take your bags to Luggage Assistance.<\/strong>Bring your checked luggage to Luggage Assistance in your participating Disney Resort&#8217;s lobby area. You&#8217;ll need a valid government-issued form of photo identification.You can also call Luggage Assistance from your in-room phone if you need help with your bags.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Drop off your luggage between 24 and 4 hours before your flight.<\/strong>Your bags can be accepted beginning <strong>24 hours before your scheduled departure<\/strong> and must be turned over at least <strong>4 hours before departure<\/strong>.Luggage Assistance is available to receive luggage <strong>24 hours a day<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Enjoy the rest of your Walt Disney World day.<\/strong>Once you&#8217;ve handed over your checked luggage, you&#8217;re free to go to breakfast, visit a theme park, shop at Disney Springs, relax at the resort, or do whatever else you&#8217;d like before it&#8217;s time to leave for the airport.Bell Services can hold your carry-on bags if you don&#8217;t want to keep them with you during the day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Go directly to security at MCO.<\/strong>Since you&#8217;re already checked in and your luggage has been transferred to your airline, you can skip the airline check-in line and proceed to airport security.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pick up your luggage at your destination.<\/strong>When you arrive at your final destination, retrieve your bags from baggage claim just as you normally would.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Details\"><\/span>The Details<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Steves-Disney-Luggage.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-36938\" src=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Steves-Disney-Luggage.jpg\" alt=\"Luggage transfer at a Walt Disney World Resort\" width=\"600\" height=\"1022\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Steves-Disney-Luggage.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Steves-Disney-Luggage-176x300.jpg 176w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Steves-Disney-Luggage-470x800.jpg 470w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Before handing over your bags for a departing flight, you&#8217;ll first check in with your airline online and pay any applicable checked-baggage fees through the airline&#8217;s website or app.<\/p>\n<p>When you bring your luggage to Luggage Assistance, you&#8217;ll need your boarding pass and a valid government-issued photo ID. Unlike the old Resort Airline Check-In service, boarding-pass printing is not part of the current Airport Luggage Transfer service.<\/p>\n<p>Once your bags are accepted, luggage tracking bands and stickers are affixed and your bags are placed into a temporary storage area adjacent to the luggage-transfer location. They are then placed in lockable rolling containers with other baggage to await the next truck heading to Orlando International Airport.<\/p>\n<p>When the truck arrives, the driver loads the container onto the truck using a hydraulic lift, and your bags are on their way to MCO. From there, they are transferred to your participating airline for your flight.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the beauty of the service: once you&#8217;ve handed over your checked luggage, you don&#8217;t have to deal with it again until you reach baggage claim at your final destination. Based on the promised delivery window, we expected to have them long before bedtime.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, our luggage didn&#8217;t reach our room until <strong>after 11:00 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Calling the hotel&#8217;s &#8220;Front Desk&#8221; number wasn&#8217;t much help. One thing many Walt Disney World guests don&#8217;t realize is that calling the published Front Desk number doesn&#8217;t actually connect you to someone standing behind the front desk at your particular resort. Those calls are handled through Disney&#8217;s centralized guest-service operation.<\/p>\n<p>In our case, they could repeat the expected luggage-delivery timeframe but couldn&#8217;t tell us exactly where our bags were or when they would arrive.<\/p>\n<h4>When Severe Weather Cancelled Our Flight After Our Bags Were Gone<\/h4>\n<p>On another trip, we checked our bags at our Disney Resort early in the day before our flight home.
