These tickets are held up to a scanner in order to be read. The old style tickets had a strip on the back and were read just like an ATM reads a debit card.<\/p>\n<p>Disney is switching to this new technology to allow a smoother guest experience. Disney has plans for these new tickets to be used for a multitude of functions such as, the previously mentioned new ticketing system for the parks, acting as your room key, making purchases, and as your token for the highly anticipated FastPass+ system. The FastPass+ system will allow guests to reserve times for popular attractions before ever leaving home.<\/p>\n<p>For years guests staying in Disney resorts could have their room key and park tickets combined in one card. This continues with the RFID tickets,Disney is even testing bracelets with RFID transmitters in place of credit card type tickets. Unfortunately combining the room key and park ticket has never been available for Disney Armed Forces Salute room reservations and tickets).<\/p>\n<p>No identifying information is stored on the ticket, it only transmits an ID number, the computer systems it interacts with then look up the ID to determine the ticket&#8217;s status. So any real data is stored on Disney&#8217;s regular systems, not on the ticket.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8191\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/RFID-Sign.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8191\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-8191\" src=\"http:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/RFID-Sign-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Green RFID Tickets\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/RFID-Sign-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/RFID-Sign-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/RFID-Sign-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-8191\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A sign showing the new RFID tickets<\/p><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ticket_Info\"><\/span>Ticket Info<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Disney Armed Forces Salute tickets can be purchased a several locations<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/military-discount-theme-park-tickets\/your-base-information-travel-and-ticket-office\/\"><span style=\"line-height: 13px;\">Base Ticket Offices<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/shades-of-green-resort-at-walt-disney-world\/shades-of-green-military-attraction-ticket-sales-office\/\">Shades of Green<\/a>, the military resort on Disney World property<\/li>\n<li>Directly from Disney ticket windows (with sales tax added)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The \u00a0Salute tickets\u00a0you buy from your base or Shades are not not valid tickets, they are exchange tickets and need to be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.militarydisneytips.com\/blog\/disney-military-discounts\/how-to-activate-your-disney-armed-forces-salute-theme-park-tickets\/\">activated<\/a> (exchanged) upon arrival at Disney World. When you exchange yours you will be given the new RFID type tickets. The RFID tickets a have a green background to set them apart from the old style tickets, the most current of which were light blue.<\/p>\n<p>Those who have previously purchased Salute tickets that were activated and still \u00a0have days remaining on them have two options. They can continue to use their tickers as is in the old turnstiles or exchange them for a new RFID ticket with the same remaining number of days left on it.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Current_Status\"><\/span>Current Status<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>[UPDATE: All WDW entries are now 100% RFID as the FY2013\u00a0Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets were the last holdouts]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Disney World is replacing their old turnstiles which accept the old tickets with new RFID readers. The International gateway entrance is also\u00a050%\/50%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hollywood Studios<\/strong> &#8211; Has 1\/3 old and 2\/3 new readers, the RFID readers are\u00a0to the right side.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Animal Kingdom <\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0Has 1\/3 old and 2\/3 new readers, the RFID readers are\u00a0to the right side at the main entrance. WDW has never allowed the Salute tickets to be combined with your Disney resort room key (Key to the World) necessitating having to cary and keep track of both room keys and tickets.
