Disneyland-Military-TicketToday we have another great post from Military Disney Tips’ West Coast Correspondent, Janina.

Greetings from sunny California!

I know that it’s been awhile since you’ve heard from me, but things have definitely been crazy out this way! I’ve been trying to come up with more topics that YOU would want to know about when it comes to Disneyland!

For those of you unfamiliar with Disneyland, we don’t have anything cool like the Magic Bands that you can get at WDW, we still use old fashion tickets.

The MWR or other military ticket office will give you a print out for your Disney Salute tickets and you’ll be given the smaller tickets at the turnstile when you use them for the very first time.

That’s not all! You’ll be asked to have your picture taken by a cast member! It may not happen right away at your first visit to the park, but you can count on someone at either Disneyland or California Adventure, asking you to step to the side so that they can snap a quick photo.

What gives?

Well, Disneyland has experienced a lot of ticket scams. On websites like eBay and Craigslist, people have been offering “rental” tickets or tickets with “huge discounts”. They’re selling multi-day park hopper tickets with one or two days left on them.

This is the biggest reason why Disneyland now requires a picture for the guest who owns the ticket, which is to prevent anyone else from using it. If you see any deals like this or hear someone talking about purchasing a “rental” ticket, warn them of the scam! Our source at Disneyland highly recommends that people with multiday tickets write their names on their ticket as well to help prevent against fraudulent use.

The Disneyland Armed Forces Salute tickets will actually have your name printed on it. This is something that they started during the 2013 offer. In the picture, I have one from the Sep 2011-Sep 2012 offer (man, they used to be $99!) and then the one with my husband’s name from last year’s offer.

This is for the Armed Forces Salute tickets only! Your name already appears on it because your name was entered into the system when you purchased your discounted ticket. Any other discounted tickets that are sold at your local MWR/ITT office will not have your name already printed on it.

One thing to note: just because they take your picture, it does not mean that if you lose your ticket that you can go in without it! You still need to stop by guest services for their assistance in getting you a new one with any remaining days you have on it.

I hope that this post gave you more insight to the ticket procedures at the Happiest Place on Earth! Please, leave comments on any Disneyland topics that you want to read about!

Today’s Disneyland fact: In the Indiana Jones ride the Temple of the Forbidden Eye, you can spot a gloomy character from Winnie the Pooh while waiting in the queue. Yep, Eeyore! Once you reach the projection room, look up in the area where the projector is. The ride was built over the old Eeyore parking lot and his sign is there as a tribute!

Cheers!

My grandpa is retired military, and planning on buying tickets for my sister and I to attend Disneyland. Can he request to have the tickets printed with our names on them? Will we have to go with him when he purchases the tickets?

      Hi Alexa,

There are 2 types of Disneyland tickets the Disney Armed Forces Salute and the Regular Military Discounted Theme Park tickets.

      See: http://www.militarydisneytips.com/Disney-Armed-Forces-Salute.html and http://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disney-military-discounts/regular-disney-military-discount-for-walt-disney-world-and-disneyland-tickets/
