Come on up and test your aim at Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade.
As of 23 June 2024, Disney World permanently closed this attraction to make room for a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) member lounge.Â
This opening day attraction nestled right in the center of Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom. And it seems that no one even notices it’s there!
Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade is a wild west style shooting gallery with long wooden rifles to shoot at some critters and other targets. This attraction has been completely overhauled over the years. Gone are the days of BBs pinging off of fence posts and tin cans, and replaced with much safer sensors. Not only is this safer, it’s a lot more fun for people that might not have the best marksmanship. These sensors are a lot like Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin but they are calibrated to be much more sensitive! If you even shoot in the general direction of a target, you will hear it “ping”.
Not only will you hear a sound like a BB hitting metal, a lot of the targets actually “do” something. You may bring up a gopher, or scare a crow, or move a sign. There are lots of cute little surprises that happen when you hit the targets at the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade.
New for 2022!
We are excited to report that this attraction is now a FREE attraction in Walt Disney World. Ever since it first opened in 1971, this attraction cost an extra fee, like a carnival game. Recent years, Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade cost $1 per round of play. On our most recent visit we noticed the signage indicating price was changed and now the signs say FREE in big, bold letters!
We’re hoping that now that this attraction is free, more people will check out this classic gem. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade is a family tradition for each of our trips, maybe you should make it part of yours.
