Since the Salute tickets are confusing now, thanks to COVID, I have a question. We’re going to WDW in May with our 2020 Salute tickets. Usually when you get to Disney, you can go to Guest Services and an extra day if you didn’t buy the max (eg: adding a 5th day to your 4-day Salute ticket). When we bought our tickets, we purchased a 5 day ticket because we didn’t know how the park pass reservations would go & they didn’t allow park hopping. Now that park hopping’s back & the park reservations seem to be running smoothly, we’d like to add a 6th day.
Since the 2020 Salute tickets had a 6 day option but 2021 doesn’t, do you know if we’ll be able to add the 6th day when we get to WDW?
Thank you
Hi Peggy,
I queried Disney on this several weeks ago and they have not answered.
I’ll poke them again and try another intel avenue.
Still can’t get them to answer this? Does Disney just not care about the military anymore? Doesn’t seem like a smart move to alienate your loyal customer base at a time when attendance is low & profits are dropping. Especially when it’s the military – a very large, tight-knit group where words spreads quickly.
Hi Peg,
Please see: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disney-armed-forces-salute/using-disney-armed-forces-salute-tickets-in-2021/
Hi, looking for possible yes or no. Was given one answer from Disney and another from Shades Ticket office. I’ve purchased a salute TX for years but always thru local base. Purchasing online thru Shades for this upcoming WDW trip. Shades rep says they will be activated and our party of 6 can go our separate ways (or some sleep in, some not, our first day. Disney rep says our party needs to all go to same park 1st day (almost sounds like all go together) WHat experience do you have on this? Following up w Disney/Shades again to see if I get told other things. Thanks!
Hi there Amy,
While my family has stuck together to date you will have no issues splitting up!
The Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets from Shades of Green are as you know pre activated. This means they are ready for use without any ID check. They can be used separately at any park and any time.
The system has no idea which ticket belongs to the member or to their guests.
Shades of Green selling pre-activated tickets creates a huge issue for Disney in that they could be scalped. To date Shades has tried to address this issue by telling their customers that there may be an ID check upon first use but it’s s fib. I’m surprised they gave you the straight story.
Hello! Thanks for such a great, informative site!
I am really concerned about purchasing AFS tickets because they are non refundable.. We are going with my parents who are older….have you ever heard of tickets being refunded for extenuating circumstances? Spending almost 2K on tickets makes me extremely nervous! Thank you in advance for your response.
Hi Christina,
The only situation that I know of where Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets were extended is the 2020 Salute tickets being extended through 26 Sept 2021 for everyone. I’ve never heard of an extension other than that. But it is rare for people to report back to me…
Disney is firm on the no refunds, but would always let you use the value (if they are not expired) towards other full price tickets.
Disney IS in the Magic Business and if you are in a jam, it never hurts to explain the situation and ask for what you want then politely escalate up the management chain.
Due to family medical emergency, husband and I were unable to travel with rest of family to Disneyland in May. Military salute tickets were purchased. Son in law and family can not afford a second trip in order to show military ID to activate our tickets. Can we utilize these tickets and pay the difference in regular admission cost at the gate?
Hi Vicki,
Yes, typically you can. See: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/faq/my-military-sponsor-can-no-longer-go-to-disney-can-i-use-the-disney-armed-forces-salute-tickets-they-already-purchased/
