Staying On Disneyland Property
Staying at a Disney owned hotel comes with many benefits, the most intangible of which is that you will feel like you are at Disney during your entire trip, not just while at the parks. Staying at a Disney owned hotel is an immersive experience and so much more convenient.
Check out this list of amenities that you’ll receive when you stay in a Disney hotel:
- Participation in Extra Magic Hour – One-hour early entry prior to the scheduled opening time on designated days to the Disneyland Park or California Adventure. The general public is not allowed in during the Extra Magic Hour so you’ll have much less competition for attractions. Disneyland – Tues, Thurs, Sat. California Adventure – Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun.
- Charging of your Disneyland purchases (Merchandise, Dining, etc.) to your room. Note: third party vendors like most restaurants at Downtown Disney are excluded.
- Special Park Entrance – Use of a convenient gateway to California Adventure through the Grand California Hotel and Spa.
- Disney Merchandise delivery to your resort (from the theme parks or Downtown Disney)
- The ability to book Preferred Access Dining Reservations between 60 and 2 days prior to check in.

Hi… does Disney land have a military hotel just as Disney world does?
If not, any recommendations on Disney hotels or other hotels with military deals?
Interested in going in Jun… any recommendations or ideas so we can plan…
First time at Disney anything… want to go Disney world but need to meet up with family at Disney land…
Steve says
Hi Francis,
There is no Shades of Green equivalent at the Disneyland Resort.
Disney offers discounts on rooms via the Disney Armed Forces Salute, see https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/the-disney-armed-forces-salute-military-ticket-and-room-discounts/
There are other Disney Good Neighbor Hotels that you can check out too, see: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disneyland/disneylands-good-neighbor-hotels-comprehensive-list/
Courtney Martin says
I was just wondering what the best way is to make reservations for a resort and tickets with the military discount? Can you make resort reservations through your local MWR or do you have to contact someone else through Disney?
Steve says
Hi Courtney,
Good Question.
Tickets you’ll get yourself from a Base Ticket office. See: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disney-military-discounts/where-to-buy-military-disney-tickets/
Some Bases have a Travel Office, with a travel agent. I’ve never used one of these, but some do. In my opinion, knowledge level would be hit or miss… You just never know.
You can call Disney yourself for the room (you can’t do it online).
Or you can use a Disney specializing Travel Agent, I recommend Ears of Experience.
