Planning a Disney or Orlando vacation with military benefits can get confusing fast. Between Disney Armed Forces Salute tickets, regular military discount tickets, blockout dates, activation rules, eligibility differences, and the question of where to buy, it is easy to feel overwhelmed. This page brings the major options together in one place so you can quickly compare the offers that may apply to your family and click straight through to the detailed guides you need.
If you are Active Duty, Guard or Reserve, retired military, a spouse, an eligible dependent, a DoD civilian, or a qualifying veteran, there may be ticket savings available to you. Some discounts are limited-time promotional offers, while others are year-round. Some are best purchased at your base ticket office or Shades of Green, while others may be easier to buy directly through the park or an approved military channel.

Note: Many pages below include links to Shades of Green ticket prices. These are usually very similar to what you will find at your Base Ticket Office.

Disney World, Florida & Disneyland, California |
Disney military tickets come in two main flavors: the limited-time Disney Armed Forces Salute offer and the year-round regular military discount tickets. The Salute offer usually provides the biggest savings, but it comes with stricter eligibility rules, purchase limits, activation requirements, and date limitations. Regular military tickets usually save less, but they are often more flexible and can make more sense when you need extra days, more than six tickets, or travel outside the Salute window.
For many families, the smartest move is to start with the Salute tickets if eligible, then use regular military tickets for anything the Salute offer does not cover.

Where you buy can matter almost as much as what you buy. In most cases, Base Ticket Offices and Shades of Green offer the best process for military families. - The Orlando ITT

- Direct from the Disney Parks Ticket Windows — Useful in some scenarios, though pricing and tax treatment can differ.

Military Ticket FAQ
What’s the difference between Disney Armed Forces Salute and regular military discount tickets?
Disney Armed Forces Salute tickets usually offer the biggest savings, but they come with stricter rules, annual validity windows, and purchase limits. Regular military discount tickets are typically available year-round with more flexibility, but the discount is usually smaller. See: Salute vs. Regular comparison.
Where should I buy military Disney tickets?
Most families should start with a Base Ticket Office or the Shades of Green Ticket Office. If you are not near a base, mail-order options may also be available. Once on property, the Disney Springs Ticket Center can also be useful for some Disney ticket needs.
Do I need theme park reservations with military tickets?
It depends on the park and ticket type. Disneyland tickets still require park reservations, and Walt Disney World Disney Armed Forces Salute tickets also still require reservations. Review your specific ticket rules before purchase and before your trip.
Is Lightning Lane included with military tickets?
No. Lightning Lane is separate. At Walt Disney World, you can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass after linking valid tickets. At Disneyland, Lightning Lane options vary by ticket type and current offer.

Steve congrats on the blog, I would like to know if regular tickets need activation in guest relations?
Hi John,
Thanks!
They do not, they are ready for use!
Steve,
Any rumors for a release date for next year’s military salute tickets?
Hi there Robert,
We’ve got a ways to go I’m afraid!
Prior to the 2020 shutdown, 2015-2019, Disney announced the next calendar year’s Salute in late September. Prior to that the Salutes ran on Disney’s fiscal year and were different.
2020 was all messed up of course, but coming out of that (2021-2023) Disney moved the Salute renewal announcement for the next year to late November.
Hey Robert,
I have to change my reply above. I just looked at my historical info and last year WDW announced in late October! Disneyland was late November.
