Magic Your Way Tickets
Magic Your Way Tickets are what Disney calls Walt Disney World’s theme park tickets, these are what are available to the general public.
Update February 2022: Disney World has announced that third party sales of Genie+ on Single Day Tickets will end 1 March 2022. Single Day in app purchases will still be available.
Military Resellers (Base Ticket Offices and Shades of Green) offer these at a slight discount. There is no official name for these other than the street name, so I call them Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets to distinguish them from the more highly discounted Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets.
Magic Your Way Tickets come in one to ten-day lengths. The Base Ticket, as it is called, allows entry into one theme park per day for the specified number of days. You may leave and re-enter the same park as many times as you’d like during the same day.
The more days that you purchase, the lower the price per day (when averaged), for days five and up you are paying very little per additional day. This is to entice you to stay longer and spend more on other things, like your room, food, and other purchases.
There are both adult (age 10+) and children’s (ages 3-9) versions of these tickets.
General Public Tiered Pricing: In October 2018 Disney World will began “Tiered Pricing” for general public multiday Magic Your Way Tickets. Disney World switched single-day tickets to date based tiered pricing in February 2016. There are now five general public price “seasons”: Low, Value, Regular, Peak, and Holiday. Each day of the year is assigned a price season ahead of time. Some seasons are big blocks of time, mostly each week has its own price season, and occasionally an individual week might have several different price seasons in it.
The seasons and their prices correspond to how busy it will be (how much demand there is for entrance). Low attendance days are cheapest, while the reverse is true for the busiest days. The reasoning behind this is to draw attendance away from when the parks are too busy to times that they desire to boost attendance. Disney does this with their resort room prices as well.
The Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets are not date based and remain the same price regardless of the time of year. With one exception, they do cost more for 1-day tickets during the Christmas-New Years Season.
Note that the military discount received on Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets varies depending on the full priced date-based price of the tickets in question. When general public Magic Your Way Tickets are at the Holiday or Peak price your discount will be bigger than when they are at the Low price. You may not see any savings on select dates in August and September.
The Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets will expire 14 days after first use, once you start using them.
The Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets expire whether used or not. Typically, 31 December of the year purchased for tickets purchased early in the year and 31 December of the following year for tickets purchased late in the year.
These tickets are not limited in number whatsoever. Only the Disney Armed Forces Salute tickets have a limit of 6 tickets per miitary member during the salute offer.
These tickets do not need to be activated, they are ready for use.
Ticket Options
There are Base Tickets and 3 options that you can add on to your Base Ticket, these are the Park Hopper Option, the Water Parks and Sports Option, and the Park Hopper Plus Option.
Park Hopper Option: Allows guests to visit multiple parks on the same day. You may enter as many theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom) as many times as you’d like each day for the number of days on the ticket.
Water Parks and Sports Option: The Water Parks and Sports Option allows entry to 1 theme park per day plus a specific number of entries into the following locations:
- Blizzard Beach Water Park
- Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
- NBA Experience
- ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
- Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course
- Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course
- Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course
Park Hopper Plus Option: The Park Hopper Plus Option allows entry to multiple theme parks per day plus a specific number of entries into the following locations:
- Blizzard Beach Water Park
- Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
- NBA Experience
- ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
- Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course
- Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course
- Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course
Water Park and Sports & Plus entries are separate from the Theme Park Days on your ticket.
Think of them as two separate tickets in one. One with the number of theme park days purchased and a second with the same number of Plus entries.
Water Park and Sports & Plus entries equal the number of days on your ticket.
Water Park and Sports & Plus entries can be used on the same or different days as theme park days and can be used multiple times on the same day if you wish.
An Example – You could go to a theme park in the morning (using up a theme park day), then after lunch go to Blizzard Beach Water Park (using 1 Plus Entry), then prior to 4pm play a round of mini golf at Fantasia Gardens (using a 2nd Plus Entry).
Plus entries are by the day; you may leave and then return the same day.
Where to Buy
It is not possible to get a military discount on these tickets directly through Disney at their ticket windows, online or by phone.
The MWR system sells Magic Your Way Tickets at a slight discount through Base Ticket Offices, the Orlando ITT, and Shades of Green. The military discount amount is about four to eight percent off of the full price, depending on the length and options that you desire.
Some ticket offices maintain a good variety of Magic Your Way tickets in stock, while others only keep a few types on hand. Some ticket offices don’t keep any in stock. If you desire tickets that they do not carry, they may be able to order exactly what you want.
Be sure to check on purchasing your tickets at least 2 weeks or more prior to when you want to have them in hand, as it may take a week or so to order them if needed.
Shades of Green sells tickets long distance as do many other Base Ticket Offices.
Shades of Green Magic Your Way Ticket Prices
There was a big change for the Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets starting with the February 2021 price increase.
The change being that there are now 2 prices for all 1-Day Tickets. The “Seasonal, which is the version and pricing that we have always had, however these are no longer valid at Christmas time, and the (non-seasonal) 1-day tickets which have no blackout dates at Christmas and are good all year, but are about $20 more expensive.
Don’t blame me for the naming convention! It seems to me the cheaper ones that you would use most of the year would be the regular ones and the more expensive ones that you would only need to use during the Christmas “Season” would be called the “seasonal” ones… But that’s just me.
Note the more expensive versions only needs to be used during the Seasonal Blockout dates.
Prices at your local Base Ticket Office will be very similar (within a few dollars).
One-Day “Seasonal” Tickets
Note, these are the best price single day tickets! They are not valid during the Christmas Season (see dates just below). When these are not valid you will need to use the more expensive single-day tickets in the section just below this one.

Disney Charges Sales Tax
I’m often asked why these military discount prices seem higher than what you see on Disney’s website for the general public versions of the same tickets.
The prices on the Disney website are pre sales tax. There is no tax on purchases at Base Ticket Offices including Shades of Green. Once tax is added Disney’s prices are higher.

Hi,
We are planning on going to Disney at the end of April and will be purchasing 6 Salute tickets. Do you know, are we able to also purchase 1 of the magic your way tickets as well? These would all be used at the same time, with my husband (retired Air Force) being with the travel group.
Hi Lori,
Yes, you can purchase any number of Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets that you would like. They have no limit, only the Salute tickets do.
We purchased some of the single day any park admission tickets before they brought back the ability to hop. Can you upgrade them to hoppers (and how would that work)?
Secondly, as for resident rates. Does everyone have to show an ID to get the rate? Will have some in our group that aren’t from FL.
Hi Janaye,
The Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets can always be upgraded to higher options, more days, or both for the price difference. You’d do this in person at a WDW ticket or guest relations location. If you bought them from Shades of Green you should also be able to do it there.
With Disney the price difference would be between what you paid and the full price ticket and at Shades their price for what you are upgrading to
Hi,
Can I purchase MYW tickets for non military family members to use without me being with them at the park?
Thank you!
Yes absolutely you can Dessara.
Hi, so we have the Magic Your Way 1-day tickets. Does my retired military father who bought them need to be present with us at the park to be granted admission or can he stay behind? He is not currently purchased /reserved with us on the day we are set to go. Can we all still go in or does he need to be present with his military ID? I’m a tad confused. Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi Laurey,
He does not need to be there. There is no activation or ID check for the Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets.
We will be at SOG Dec 21 – 27. Planning on 5 day one park tickets. Do the MYW tickets have blackout dates? We are looking at the MYW $436.25 and Stars and Stripes $509.75, comparing cost.
Hi Cynthia,
There are no Blockouts of the multi-day regular military MYW tickets.
Hello, I am trying to purchase 1 day park hopper pass for our upcoming trip to Disney October 10 -15 I would need 5 adults and 1 child pass. Or I could do a 2 day ticket if that would be cheaper.
Great Melinda,
You can go by your local Base Ticket Office to purchase, or if you are not near one use an office that ships.
Can these Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets be extended past their expiration date if unused? Can it be done through the my disney experience app?
Hi Mette,
No, the expiration date cannot be extended.
MYW tickets expire 14 days after the first day of use.
But expirations of unused MYW tickets are typically 1 to 1.5 years in the future at the end of the next calendar year.
And, MYW tickets do not lose value when they expire! So if expired their purchase value can be used towards new tickets at the current price.
Is there a Genie+ option for the MYW discounted tickets? We only need 3 days so buying the 4 day Salute tix would be more expensive but I don’t see and option for the 3 day Hopper w/Genie+. TIA
Hi there Leslie,
Look under Multi-Day Tickets, 10th line down (3-Day MYW with Park Hopper) Under the “Adult Genie+ and Child Genie+” column headings. Adult – $ 426.75/ Child $ 412.25
Is there a way to get single day MYW tickets online? We don’t want to drive out to the closest base in order to get the tickets
Also does Shades of green only do multiple day tickets or could we purchase them through there?
Hi Jaime,
Not “online” as in a website purchase, but many bases including Shades of Green do sell long distance via phone or email.
See: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disney-military-discounts/buy-military-discounted-disney-tickets-by-phone/
And yes, Shades sells single-day tickets.
Hey! Thanks for such details! Is the 14 Day Military MYW tickets inclusive of the first day? Like I go on March 1 and they are good through March 14 or March 15?
Hi Jen, the first day is included, so March 1-14.
Thanks! I almost screwed up our plans!
Hi. If buy a 2 day ticket at the base, would I be able to upgrade (before or after first use) to the salute ticket at SOG if I decide I’d like more days?
Hi Laurie,
There are a couple parts to this.
Shades of Green will upgrade tickets that they sell, not tickets purchased elsewhere. Tickets purchased elsewhere have to be upgraded by Disney.
The Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets and Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets are two totally different and mutually exclusive products. You can’t upgrade one to the other as far as I am aware, only within the same ticket product. You can upgrade the 2-day MYW purchased elsewhere to any length MYW through Disney’s ticket or guest relations windows before finishing using it.
The 2-day military MYW hopper is $311.75 and the 4-day Salute is $329. A $17.25 difference.
2022 gate prices for a 2-day MYW hopper are between $305.66 and $410.03 depending on the time of the year.
If you think you might do more than 2 days, I recommend you just go with the 4-day Salute! If you only do 2 days you’ll have lost the $17.25, but still be ahead of the gate price for most days.
We are planning a trip starting January 1st 2023. The MYW ticket says the first use has to be on or before December 31, 2022, is there a certain time of year we can purchase tickets to use starting in January 2023? I don’t want to purchase tickets that will expire before our trip.
Hi Tina,
Mid year they typically roll the expiration on new purchases to the next December.
I just checked and Shades of Green has switched the Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Ticket expiration to 31 Dec 2023.
I’ve updated the post, thanks!
Hello,
My husband is a Navy Veteran and we were looking to buy the discounted MYW tickets. Every ticket that I call has told us that you have to have a current military ID. Have the rules changed?
Thanks for your help
Hi Carol,
No there have been no changes to eligibility. All “standard” military discounts are for current or retired members.
However there are some circumstances where non-retirees can qualify for some discounts.
Please see:

https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/shades-of-green/shades-of-green-stays-for-non-retired-veterans/
Now, I just realized that I answered as if your husband served and got out without retiring which is the definition of a veteran.
You didn’t mean that he is a retiree did you? A retired military ID (and dependent of a retiree ID) is a current military ID.
How often do their prices change? We are going in September and the prices on the Disney website seem to be better than these. Should we wait to purchase there?
Hi April,
First, the prices on the Disney website are pre sales tax. There is no tax on purchases at Base Ticket Offices including Shades of Green. Disney’s prices are higher.
Prices typically are raised by Disney once a year, see: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disney-armed-forces-salute/how-disney-price-increases-affect-military-ticket-discounts/
Hi!
We purchased 6 day MYW Park hoppers theough SOG, but now our vacation has been extended. We want to upgrade to 7 day (or possibly 8 day) park hoppers. Can I do this on the My Disney Experience app? Or do I have to do it in person at shades of green?
Hi Victoria,
Days can be added to the regular military Magic Your Way tickets. Normally this is done after arrival at a Disney ticket/guest relations location.
I’d contact Shades of Green’s Ticket Office to see if there is a way that they can assist you long distance.
Thank you so much for all the helpful information.
I am still having trouble finding where to buy the MYW discounted military tickets for non retired veterans – without having to go somewhere in person. On the Shades of Green website and the Patrick AFB website, the PDFs for submitting your ticket requests both require that you acknowledge that you are active duty or retired. My husband has a DD 214. I did reach out to Shades of Green with this question too.
Thank you so much.
Hi Alecia,
Your question was missing some background info that I need to answer, so I’ll have to shotgun all of the info that might apply.
So, let’s talk basics first. There are 2 ways a non-retiree can buy the Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets.
1. Qualify under the McCain Equal Access Act (any ticket office, any time)
2. Be staying at Shades of Green in January or September (Shades ticket office only, only for that stay)
The McCain Equal Access Act allows Veterans who are Purple Heart recipients, Veterans who are former prisoners of war, Veterans with service-connected disabilities, and Individuals approved and designated as the Primary Family Caregivers of eligible Veterans under the VA Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers the use of Base Ticket Offices as if they were retired year round. The McCain act requires other documentation than a DD-214, see the link.
If your husband does not qualify for the McCain Act he is allowed to stay at Shades of Green in Jan and Sept and buy tickets while staying there. I do believe that they will allow you to pre-purchase tickets for your stay with a reservation. it is probably best to coordinate your purchase in this instance via phone (Attraction Ticket Hotline (407) 824-1403).
In both cases above you are treated as a retiree for the purpose of ticket purchases.
And since you are asking about the regular tickets, I believe that you know that he can not purchase tickets that require a current or retiree ID (those being the Disney Armed Forces Salute and Universal Freedom Pass).
Thank you for the quick response. That helped to clarify. He does qualify under the McCain Access Act, and I see now on the Shades of Green PDF form that you can use the VHIC card.
Thanks for organizing this entire website to help navigate all the various circumstances and options for military families and veterans.
It’s a labor of love Alecia. Thanks!
