Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is more than just a ride—it’s a cinematic, multi-part experience that puts you right in the middle of the Star Wars saga.

The Queue

The moment you step into the queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, you’re fully immersed in the Star Wars universe. The journey begins in the hidden base of the Resistance on the forested planet of Batuu. As you wind through the rugged caves and makeshift command centers, you’ll notice detailed maps, equipment, and communications gear scattered about, all giving you the sense that the Resistance is in the midst of a desperate struggle against the First Order.

The queue itself is an experience, with the environment and theming building anticipation as you get closer to your mission. The detailed set pieces and occasional appearances by Resistance fighters help set the stage for the adventure ahead, though the line can be long—especially given the ride’s popularity—but every element in the queue works to keep you engaged and excited for what’s to come.

The Ride

Your journey begins with a briefing from Resistance leaders, including Rey and BB-8, who will brief you as new Rebel recruits before boarding a transport ship.

However, after takeoff things quickly go awry as your ship is intercepted by First Order Tie Fighters and pulled into a Star Destroyer. Your accompanying X-Wing Fighters led by Poe Dameron, are either destroyed or flee, but Poe promises to come back in force to rescue you.

From here, you’ll find yourself in the heart of the enemy’s base, where you’ll encounter stormtroopers, towering AT-ATs, and even Kylo Ren himself.

The ride combines trackless vehicles, state-of-the-art animatronics, and cutting-edge special effects to create an experience that feels more like living a Star Wars movie than simply riding an attraction. Each twist and turn in the story adds to the excitement, making this one of the most immersive and thrilling experiences at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The Ride Vehicle

During the main portion of the ride, you’ll board a First Order transport vehicle, a trackless ride system that moves fluidly through the Star Destroyer. Each vehicle seats up to eight passengers in two rows, with lap belts securing each rider. The design of the vehicle allows for a smooth ride while providing a clear view of all the action around you. The trackless system means that the vehicle moves in unexpected ways, adding to the sense of unpredictability and excitement. Boarding is relatively easy, with a wide entry point, though the intense action once the ride starts will have you holding on tight.

Rider Swap

Rider Swap is available for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which is particularly helpful given the intensity and length of the experience. To take advantage of Rider Swap, speak with a Cast Member at the entrance, and they will assist in setting up the swap so that everyone who wants to experience the adventure can do so without waiting in the queue twice.

Accessibility

Onboard the Rebel Shuttle

Rise of the Resistance is accessible to guests with mobility challenges, though it requires a transfer from a wheelchair or scooter to the ride vehicle. The ride involves multiple stages, including walking through different areas and boarding different vehicles, so guests should be comfortable with these aspects of the experience. Cast Members are on hand to assist with any needed transfers and to ensure that all guests can participate fully in the adventure.

Height Requirement

Riders must be at least 40 inches tall to join the Resistance on this epic mission.
