Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets vs Disney World Annual Pass

Disney Military Promotional Tickets vs. WDW Annual Pass – Which Is Worth It in 2025?

This is a great question that recently came up as a question on a blog post. So I took a deep dive into the data to answer it.

  • The Options
    • Disney Military Salute Tickets in 2025 (WDW)
  • Annual Pass Options for Walt Disney World (2025)
  • Value Comparison – Florida Resident/DVC (Sorcerer Pass)
  • Value Comparison – Non-Florida Resident (Incredi-Pass)
  • Other Factors and Perks to Consider
  • Conclusion: Is an Annual Pass Worth it for Military Families?

Back in 2012, this was an easy decision for me. I lived in Florida and visited WDW multiple times a year, often by myself. I could have purchased multiple Salute tickets to use throughout the year, but at the time, the Gold Annual Pass (now known as the Sorcerer Pass, available only to FL residents and DVC members) cost less than buying two 5-day Salute Tickets (the max days available then). So, before using the last day of my initial Sallute Ticket, I upgraded it to a Gold Pass.

Below, I’ll delve into whether or not buying an annual pass for Walt Disney World might be the right choice for you.

It isn’t a cut-and-dried decision; there are a lot of variables that you will need to take into consideration!

Here are some of those variables:

  • Whether you live in Florida or not, or are a DVC member
  • How many are in your family
  • How many Salute Tickets does your family qualify for
  • How many times that you plan to visit WDW in a 1-year period
  • When you want to visit WDW
  • Where will you stay when visiting
  • How much will you be spending on food and merchandise while there

Here is why each of these needs to be considered.

Florida Residents and DVC Members are eligible to purchase the Sorcerer Pass. This pass is $500 less than the Incredi-Pass. FL residents also qualify for even cheaper passes. All other non-FL residents can only purchase the Incredi-Pass.

Family size and makeup also matter. Individuals are allowed to use multiple Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets back to back or throughout the offer period. Each military member is eligible to use a total of 6 Salute Tickets for themselves and others during the offer period, so if you have 3 or fewer people in your family/group, you’d be able to use multiple Salute tickets per person. And if you have more than one military member in your family, that increases the number of Salute tickets available! For example, if a husband and wife were both military members, they would be eligible for 12 Salute Tickets during the 2025 offer period.

Repeat Visits. The number of days/trips that you think you will make to Disney World will factor into the price comparison.

When You Visit. There are blockout dates for the Disney Armed Forces Salutea Tickets and the Sorcerer Pass, and even more restrictive bolckouts for the cheaper passes.

Where you will stay. Disney Resort guests receive free parking at the theme parks. All others pay $30 per day.

Extra Purchases. Annual Passholders are eligible for food and merchandise discounts.

The Options

Let’s take a quick look at the options before we compare them.

Disney Military Salute Tickets in 2025 (WDW)

Walt Disney World’s Disney Military Salute program offers deeply discounted multi-day tickets to eligible U.S. service members and their families. For 2025, three ticket lengths are available:

  • 4-Day Military Salute Ticket (Park Hopper included) – $399
  • 5-Day Military Salute Ticket (Park Hopper) – $419
  • 6-Day Military Salute Ticket (Park Hopper) – $439

Salute tickets can be used on most dates in 2025, from January 1st through December 19th, except during the blockout dates of April 13 to 26 and November 23 to 29. These special tickets expire on Dec 19, 2025. They include the Park Hopper option by default. A Water Park “Plus” upgrade is available for ~$30 extra.

Eligibility & Limits: Only “Eligible Service Members” (active or retired U.S. military, including Guard/Reservists, Coast Guard, PHS, NOAA) or their spouses can purchase and activate these tickets. Each eligible service member is authorized a maximum of 6 Salute tickets in 2025. One ticket must be used by the service member themselves — unless that person is the spouse, in which case they may purchase and use a maximum of 5 Salute tickets in 2025 for themselves and others to use. If the member already has an annual pass, they can buy up to 5 Salute tickets for others without using one on themselves. Each Salute ticket is non-transferable once used.

For the comparison, we’ll focus on the 6-Day Military Salute Ticket as we are looking at the maximum usage.

Annual Pass Options for Walt Disney World (2025)

Disney World offers four Annual Pass tiers. All passes include Park Hopper access, free standard parking, and discounts on dining and merchandise. Here are the current options:

  • Incredi-Pass – No blockout dates. Available to everyone for $1,649.69, including tax.
  • Sorcerer Pass – Blocked out around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Florida residents and DVC members only for $1,149.14, including tax.
  • Pirate Pass – FL residents only. Blocked out ~65 days per year for $882.89, including tax.
  • Pixie Dust Pass – FL residents only. Blocked out most weekends and holidays for $499.49, including tax.

Sorcerer Pass Blockout dates for 2025:

  • November 26-29
  • December 21-31
  • January 1, 2026

For the comparison, we’ll focus on the Sorcerer Pass for FL residents and DVC owners and the Incredi-Pass for non-residents.

Value Comparison – Florida Resident/DVC (Sorcerer Pass)

In 2025 the Sorcerer Pass costs $1,149. Compare that to Salute ticket costs:

  • 6 days = One 6-day Salute ticket = $439
  • 12 days = Two 6-day Salute tickets = $878
  • 13+ days = Would require a third Salute ticket = $1,277+

Break-even point for FL Residents/DVC Owners: Around 12–13 park days per year. Above that, a Sorcerer Pass becomes the better value.

As a reminder, using multiple Salute tickets per person requires a family of 3 or fewer, or two military members in the family. If you desire to purchase Salute tickets for a bigger group, then the pass is the right option. Take me for instance, I want to have 4 Salute Tickets for my daughter’s family and one for my wife, to go more than 6 days a year, I need a pass!

The Sorcerer Pass has a very similar Blockout date to the Salute Tickets, so when you want to travel has no bearing in this discussion; that’s a conversation about the difference between the Disney Armed Forces Salute and Military Theme Park Tickets.

Value Comparison – Non-Florida Resident (Incredi-Pass)

Incredi-Pass costs $1,650. Compare that to Salute tickets:

  • 6 days = One 6-day Salute ticket = $439
  • 12 days = Two 6-day Salute tickets = $878
  • 18 days = Three 6-day Salute tickets = $1,317
  • 20+ days = Four Salute tickets (2 4-day, 1 5-day, & 1 6-day) = $1,676+

Break-even point for non-FL residents: About 18 park days per year. Below that, Salute tickets remain the better value if you have the ability to use 3 of them per person.

The Incredi-Pass had no blockout dates, so if you desire to go during Spring Break, Thanksgiving, or Christmas, the pass is the way to go!

Other Factors and Perks to Consider

Taking the Kids to Disney While the Service Member is Deployed

  • 6-Ticket Limit: Each eligible member can only buy 6 Salute tickets per year. Having an Annual Pass allows the service member to use 5 of those for others without needing one themselves.
  • Free Parking: Annual Passes include free standard theme park parking, saving $30/day if you stay at non-Disney hotels such as Shades of Green or drive in for the day.
  • Merchandise & Dining Discounts: Annual Passes include up to 20% off on merchandise and 10% off dining. Over multiple trips, these add up.
  • Upgrade Option: You can upgrade a Salute ticket to an Annual Pass. Disney applies the value of the Salute ticket toward the AP. Upgrade must be done before using the last day of the Salute ticket. The pass start date is backdated to the first use of the Salute Ticket. So if you are on the fence about a pass, you can start out with a Salute Ticket.
  • Convenience: No need to worry about park day counts or buying new tickets. One AP gives you spontaneous flexibility throughout the year.
  • Theme Park Reservations: Both Military Tickets and Annual Passes require Theme Park Reservations. Note there are limited days when passholders do not need them.
  • Renewal Annual Passes are cheaper: Disney discounts the renewal price after the initial purchase, making the second year’s computation even better for APs. ($250 off Incredi-Pass, $150 off Sorcerer Pass)

Conclusion: Is an Annual Pass Worth it for Military Families?

Here’s the bottom line, going just by ticket/pass price:

  • FL residents/DVC members: Sorcerer Pass is worth it if you plan 13+ park days in 2025.
  • Non-FL residents: Incredi-Pass is only worth it at around 18+ park days or more.

However, perks like free parking, discounts, and flexibility can tilt the value even at slightly lower visit counts. For many military families, a great strategy is to have one Annual Passholder (for the perks and flexibility) and use Salute tickets for the rest of the group, as I do.

If you’ll be parking at the theme parks a lot, total up how many $30 parking fees you’ll accumulate to factor into the equation. Six days of parking is $180!

One more thing to consider is that I’m answering this question in July 2025, and the 2025 Disney Armed Forces Salute is already half over. So, things to consider if you are thinking about buying an Annual Pass now:

  • There is always the possibility that there will be no 2026 Disney Armed Forces Salute (they are individual temporary offers).
  • 2026 Disney Armed Forces Salute Ticket prices will be higher, changing the computation both by price and additional tickets available to each member due to eligibility in the 2025 and 2026 offer periods.

For your information, I’m an Ohio resident, a DVC Owner, and a Happy Annual Passholder. When we were stationed in Florida (till 2016), I had the Gold Pass (now the Sorcerer Pass), which I was able to keep until 2020 due to still owning property in Panama City. When we sold the house, I switched to the Incredi-Pass, but as of my upcoming renewal, I will be switching back to the Sorcerer Pass because of my recent DVC purchase. As a passholder, I’m eligible for up to 5 Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets for others, and I use all 5 each year for my family.

Thank you for your service — and happy planning!

Steve, great information! I think you’ve put this together better than most if not all that have tried. I think a key thing to remember for military members is the limitations of the Salute tickets and what the Incredi-pass can bring for non-residents. You spoke about it but it can’t be emphasized enough…there is more flexibility with the AP and allows you to go during times when school is out (i.e. spring break, thanksgiving, etc.)

For me, the annual passes made sense because of multiple reasons: 1. Flexibility (we always go during Thanksgiving); 2. Large family (I have 5 kids and while sometimes Disney makes an exception, it’s nice to be able to just go buy 5 and my wife and I have APs); 3. When we visit, we sometimes like to just go together (wife and I) for a few hours – with an AP…it doesn’t feel like a waste).

We are new DVC owners as well but resale so don’t have a lot of the perks. But, the free parking for APs is not something that matters since we’re always staying on site.

Of course, now that my son is in the military…we have access to an additional 6 tickets with him so maybe the AP won’t seem as good. Either way, I do really like the flexibility of the pass and think I’ll renew when the time comes up.

      Hey there Dennis,

      Thanks! Great points!

With the extra 6, you’ll need to recompute.

I’ve had an AP for years, and you’re right, popping into a park for just a bit is no big deal.

We started last fall with 2 resale contracts, but just took the plunge last month and bought enough direct points to get the extras! I’m looking forward to the lounges, and on my next renewal I can downgrade to the Sorcerer Pass instead of the Incredi-Pass (as I’m out of state) to save some bucks.

Another informative and just great article. It was a question I had as well. I will be most likely buying a AP in 2026 as we will be spending quite some time in Florida and the Fort Wilderness camp ground along with Shades of green.

Hi! Question about bridging Salute tickets specifically to Pixie Dust AP’s. Have you heard of anybody bridging the MIL Salute ticket to a Pixie Dust pass after using the MIL Salute tix on a weekend? I intend to use my salute tickets on a Saturday & Sunday, but am undecided about bridging to an AP. We are also Florida residents and would only bridge to the Pixie Dust pass – which is blocked out on the weekends. I want to make sure I’m not given any trouble about bridging Salute tickets to that specific Pixie Dust pass after using the tix on a weekend. I can’t find any info about this anywhere!

      Hi KC,

As I understand your concern it is that you’re using the Salute ticket on a weekend and then wan to upgrade to the AP that is not valid on the weekends.

I do not think this will be an issue. When I upgraded my salute ticket to the FL Silver pass, it too had blockouts. So I was taking a ticket with one st of blockouts and switching (for the actual price) to a pass with different blockouts.
