This African-inspired amber ale pays tribute to the legendary Adventurers Club, the beloved Pleasure Island hangout that still has a cult following to this day. It’s not just a drink—it’s Disney history in a pint glass.

The Adventurers Club Connection

“Some days you eat the bear, some days the bear eats you, but always dress for the hunt!” That famous motto echoed through the Adventurers Club, an interactive nightclub experience at Pleasure Island that ran from 1989 until its closure in 2008.

Set inside a fictional explorers’ club, the Adventurers Club mixed themed sets, roaming characters, and mini-shows throughout the evening, capped by an unforgettable initiation ceremony. Guests were greeted with the club’s official toast—“Kungaloosh!”—and could order the namesake cocktail at the bar.

Today, The Edison at Disney Springs occupies the same building where the Adventurers Club once stood, but the spirit of the Club lives on through a specialty beer you can still find around Walt Disney World.

The Original “Kungaloosh” Cocktails

Before it became a beer, Kungaloosh was a cocktail with two very different recipes over the years. Fans still recreate them at home:

Old Kungaloosh Recipe (circa 1997)

  • 1 1/4 oz vodka
  • 1 1/4 oz Malibu Rum
  • 3/4 oz Midori (melon liqueur)
  • 2 tbsp pineapple juice
  • Splash cranberry juice

Directions: Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice, shake well, and strain into a chilled glass.

New Kungaloosh Recipe (since ~2000)

  • 1 cup Daily’s Strawberry Daiquiri Mix
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum
  • 1/4 cup blackberry brandy

Directions: Blend with ice until slushy and serve immediately.

Kungaloosh Spiced Excursion Ale

Disney later reimagined Kungaloosh as a craft beer brewed exclusively for Walt Disney World. Kungaloosh Spiced Excursion Ale is a deep amber ale made with sorghum and a warming blend of spices—cinnamon and cardamom among them. Brewed by Concrete Beach Brewery, it’s classified as an American Amber-Red Ale with a 6.0% ABV.

Flavor-wise, expect a smooth amber base with a gently spiced finish. It’s refreshing on a hot Florida day yet cozy enough to sip in cooler months—a Disney-exclusive that fans love to track down.

Where You Can Find Kungaloosh

You won’t see Kungaloosh on every bar menu—it’s only available at a few select spots around Walt Disney World:

  • Nomad Lounge / Tiffins – Disney’s Animal Kingdom
  • Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen – Magic Kingdom
  • Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar – Disney Springs

Note: Kungaloosh was previously offered at Thirsty River Bar & Trek Snacks (Disney’s Animal Kingdom) but is no longer served there.

Keeping the Spirit Alive

When the Adventurers Club closed in 2008, fans launched campaigns begging Disney to keep it alive. While the Club never reopened, many props were distributed across Disney locations worldwide, and the legend of the Club still captures imaginations today. Kungaloosh Spiced Excursion Ale serves as a flavorful toast to that legacy—a taste of Disney’s past for those lucky enough to find it.

Last Call

I only had the chance to visit the Adventurers Club a handful of times before it closed, but it was always a highlight of the night at Pleasure Island. The fact that Disney kept the Kungaloosh name alive through this special ale feels like a small but meaningful tribute.
