Hollywood Land is Disney California Adventure’s tribute to the glamour of Hollywood’s past and present. With Art Deco architecture, golden-age theming, and a mix of attractions that highlight film, animation, and stage, this land celebrates the magic of moviemaking in true Disney style.
Walking through Hollywood Land feels like stepping onto a backlot where imagination and entertainment come to life.
Attractions
Hollywood Land features a variety of shows and rides, many of which celebrate the art of animation and Disney storytelling:
- Disney Junior Dance Party! – A high-energy, interactive stage show where little ones can sing and dance along with characters from Mickey and the Roadster Racers, Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First, and The Lion Guard.
- Anna and Elsa’s Royal Welcome – The only place in Disneyland Resort to meet the sisters of Arendelle. This character greeting has its own Lightning Lane availability outside the standard system, allowing you to reserve it separately.
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic – A 3D film adventure starring Donald Duck, who mischievously borrows Mickey’s sorcerer hat and takes guests on a whirlwind journey through classic Disney movies.
- Disney Animation Building – Home to several attractions in one:
- Animation Academy – Learn how to draw Disney characters with guidance from a Disney animator.
- Turtle Talk with Crush – An interactive digital experience where everyone’s favorite sea turtle chats with kids in real time.
- Sorcerer’s Workshop – Explore hands-on exhibits that reveal the magic of animation.
- Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! (LL Multi) – A dark ride through Monstropolis where you’ll follow Mike and Sulley’s adventure to return Boo safely home, complete with animatronic scenes and beloved movie moments.

Ambiance & History
Hollywood Land captures the essence of Southern California’s movie-making roots. The facades mirror classic Hollywood architecture from the 1920s and 30s, while street entertainers and live music occasionally bring the land to life. The Animation Building is a hidden gem here, offering a mix of interactive and educational experiences that celebrate Disney’s artistic legacy.
The land once included the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which was rethemed into Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! and folded into the neighboring A Bug’s Land. That entire section was later transformed into today’s Avengers Campus. Despite these changes, Hollywood Land remains a space that highlights Disney’s ongoing love affair with film, stage, and character-driven storytelling.
Disney California Adventure Layout
Hollywood Land branches off from Carthay Circle on the “left” side of the park as you walk down Buena Vista Street. It’s one of the first major areas guests reach after entering Disney California Adventure.
Hollywood Land is connected to:
- Buena Vista Street at Carthay Circle
- Avengers Campus via the back/side pathways near Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!
Wrap-Up
Hollywood Land offers something for everyone, from toddlers who love Disney Junior characters to adults who appreciate Disney’s animation history. With family-friendly rides, interactive experiences, and plenty of places to grab a snack or shop for movie-inspired souvenirs, this land delivers the charm of Hollywood with that special Disney touch. It may not have thrill rides, but its mix of shows and animation experiences make it a can’t-miss part of Disney California Adventure.
