Do Disney Military Tickets Include Lightning Lane?
The answer is completely different depending on whether you’re visiting Walt Disney World or Disneyland.
At Walt Disney World, Disney Military Salute Tickets and regular military-discounted tickets do not include Lightning Lane. Any Lightning Lane pass you want must be purchased separately through the My Disney Experience app.
At Disneyland, both Disney Military Salute Tickets and regular military-discounted tickets can be purchased either with or without Lightning Lane Multi Pass. When you buy the version that includes Lightning Lane Multi Pass, it is included for the full length of the ticket.
At both destinations, guests can also purchase Lightning Lane separately for individual park days through the appropriate Disney app.
That difference makes the answer more complicated than a simple yes or no—and makes it especially important to understand exactly what you are buying.
Quick Answer: Walt Disney World vs. Disneyland
| Destination | Military Tickets Include Lightning Lane? | Separate Daily Lightning Lane Purchase Available? |
|---|---|---|
| Walt Disney World | No. Lightning Lane is not bundled with Disney Military Salute Tickets or regular military-discounted tickets. | Yes. Purchase Lightning Lane passes separately in the My Disney Experience app. |
| Disneyland | It depends. Military tickets may be purchased with or without Lightning Lane Multi Pass for the full length of the ticket. | Yes. Guests without the bundled option can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass for an individual day in the Disneyland app after entering a theme park. |
The most important point is this:
Do not assume that every Disney military ticket works the same way at both destinations.
Walt Disney World Military Tickets Do Not Include Lightning Lane
At Walt Disney World, Lightning Lane is a separate purchase from your military theme park ticket.
This applies to:
- Disney Military Salute Tickets
- Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Tickets
- Walt Disney World Military Theme Park tickets
None of these tickets include Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Lightning Lane Single Pass, or Lightning Lane Premier Pass.
Your ticket provides park admission and whatever ticket options you purchased, such as Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus. It does not automatically include access to Lightning Lane entrances.
You must purchase any Lightning Lane passes separately through the My Disney Experience app on a day-by-day basis.
WALT DISNEY WORLD MILITARY TICKET LINKS:
Which Lightning Lane Passes Can Military Guests Buy at Walt Disney World?
Military ticket holders have access to the same Walt Disney World Lightning Lane products as other eligible guests.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass
Lightning Lane Multi Pass allows you to choose arrival windows for multiple participating attractions.
At the time of purchase, you can select up to three eligible attractions and arrival windows in one theme park. After using a selection—or after its arrival window passes—you can check the app for another available selection.
Lightning Lane Single Pass
Lightning Lane Single Pass provides access to the Lightning Lane entrance at a specific high-demand attraction that is not included with Multi Pass.
Single Pass is purchased separately by attraction.
Lightning Lane Premier Pass
Lightning Lane Premier Pass provides one-time access to each available Lightning Lane attraction in one park without requiring you to select arrival windows.
Premier Pass is also separate from your military ticket and is priced independently.
LIGHTNING LANE LINKS:
When Can Military Guests Purchase Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World?
When you can purchase Lightning Lane depends primarily on where you are staying, not on whether your ticket is military-discounted.
Guests Staying at a Disney Resort, Shades of Green, or Another Eligible Resort
Registered guests staying at Shades of Green, a Disney Resort hotel, or another eligible resort can purchase Walt Disney World Lightning Lane passes beginning seven days before the first day of their resort stay.
They can make Lightning Lane plans for their eligible park days during that stay, up to Disney’s permitted length-of-stay limit.
Guests Staying Elsewhere
Guests who are not staying at an eligible resort can purchase Lightning Lane passes beginning three days before the applicable park date or ticket window.
Disney Military Salute Tickets are not date-based tickets. Guests using them without an eligible resort stay can purchase Lightning Lane passes within the three-day window for each park date.
Regular military-discounted Walt Disney World tickets are date-based. Guests using those tickets can purchase three days before the first day of the ticket and plan for the valid admission days associated with that ticket.
All Walt Disney World Lightning Lane purchases are made through the My Disney Experience app and are subject to availability.

Disney Military Salute Tickets Must Be Linked and Have Park Reservations
Before purchasing Lightning Lane for a Disney Military Salute Ticket, make sure the ticket is linked to the correct guest in My Disney Experience.
Disney Military Salute Tickets also require advance Theme Park Reservations.
Buying or linking the ticket does not automatically reserve a park. Each guest must have:
- A valid Disney Military Salute Ticket linked to the guest
- A Theme Park Reservation for the first park the guest plans to enter
- A separate Lightning Lane purchase if the guest wants to use Lightning Lane
These are three different parts of the planning process.
Regular date-based military-discounted Walt Disney World tickets do not require Theme Park Reservations under the current date-based ticket rules.
PARK RESERVATIONS LINK:
Do Walt Disney World Military Guests Receive a Lightning Lane Discount?
No.
There is no military discount on Walt Disney World Lightning Lane passes.
Military guests pay the same Lightning Lane prices as other guests. Prices vary by date, park, pass type, and—for Single Pass—the attraction selected.
The military savings apply to the eligible admission ticket, not to the optional Lightning Lane purchase.
Disneyland Military Tickets Work Differently
Disneyland military tickets offer a choice that Walt Disney World military tickets do not.
Both Disneyland Disney Military Salute Tickets and regular military-discounted Disneyland tickets can be purchased:
- Without Lightning Lane Multi Pass
- With Lightning Lane Multi Pass included for the full length of the ticket
For example, when you purchase a four-day military ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass, the Multi Pass entitlement applies to all four valid park days.
You are not merely buying one Lightning Lane day or one attraction. You are purchasing the ticket version that includes Multi Pass throughout the ticket.
This bundled choice is made when you purchase the military ticket through the participating military ticket office or other authorized military sales channel.
DISNEYLAND MILITARY TICKET LINKS:
What Does the Included Disneyland Lightning Lane Multi Pass Provide?
On each valid park day covered by the ticket, Lightning Lane Multi Pass allows you to select the next available arrival window for participating attractions.
At Disneyland, you begin making Lightning Lane Multi Pass attraction selections after entering Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park for the day.
You initially select three eligible attractions. After redeeming a selection—or once otherwise eligible—you can make another selection, maintaining three reserved attractions at a time, subject to availability.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass also includes its current Disneyland PhotoPass benefits for the applicable day, including eligible digital photo downloads and Disney PhotoPass Lenses.
Attraction availability is limited, and buying the ticket with Multi Pass does not guarantee access to every participating attraction.
LIGHTNING LANE LINKS:
Can You Add Lightning Lane to a Disneyland Military Ticket After You Begin Using It?
Yes—but you cannot add Lightning Lane Multi Pass to only the remaining days of the military ticket.
To upgrade a Disneyland military ticket that was purchased without Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you must visit a Disneyland Resort ticket booth and pay the difference between your original ticket and the military ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass for the full original length of the ticket.
Previously used days do not reduce the upgrade cost.
For example, suppose you purchased a four-day Disney Military Salute Ticket without Lightning Lane Multi Pass. You use the ticket for one day and then decide on the second morning that you want Multi Pass.
You cannot pay to add Multi Pass only to days two, three, and four.
You must upgrade to the full four-day Disney Military Salute Ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass and pay the complete price difference between the two four-day ticket products.
The upgrade must be completed at a Disneyland Resort ticket booth.
California does not charge sales tax on theme park tickets, so tax is not added to the ticket upgrade.
A Separate Daily In-App Purchase Is Different
You may instead purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass separately through the Disneyland app for an individual park day, subject to availability and Disney’s current purchase rules.
That daily purchase does not modify or upgrade your military ticket. It provides Lightning Lane Multi Pass only for that particular day.
Military families therefore have three distinct choices:
- Purchase the military ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass included for every day from the beginning
- Purchase the military ticket without Multi Pass and buy separate daily Multi Pass access through the Disneyland app on selected days
- Upgrade the military ticket at a Disneyland ticket booth and pay the full difference for the Multi Pass version covering the ticket’s original number of days
Steve Says: Do not assume that waiting until partway through the trip will let you upgrade only the unused days. If you think you will want Lightning Lane Multi Pass for most or all of your Disneyland visit, compare the bundled military ticket before making your original purchase.
Buying Disneyland Lightning Lane for the Entire Ticket
Purchasing the bundled Disneyland military ticket can be the better choice when you already expect to use Lightning Lane Multi Pass every day.
It may make sense if:
- This is your first Disneyland vacation
- You have only a few park days
- You want to experience as many major attractions as possible
- You are visiting during a busy period
- You do not want to reconsider the purchase each morning
- You want Multi Pass available for every valid day of the ticket
The bundled ticket creates certainty. You know before the trip that every ticketed park day includes Multi Pass. It also locks in your Lightning Lane cost before your vacation, rather than leaving you to whatever the daily in-app price happens to be.
Buying Disneyland Lightning Lane One Day at a Time
Purchasing a separate daily Lightning Lane Multi Pass through the Disneyland app—not upgrading your military ticket—can be the better choice when you are unsure whether you will use it throughout the trip.
It may make sense if:
- You expect to use Multi Pass on only one or two days
- You are planning a slower park day
- You want to decide based on crowds or attraction availability
- You have young children who will not ride many participating attractions
- You may spend part of a day at your hotel or outside the parks
- You are an experienced visitor who does not need to accomplish everything
The tradeoff is that daily pricing may differ from the cost built into the military ticket, and day-of purchases remain subject to availability.
Should You Buy the Disneyland Military Ticket With Lightning Lane?
The answer depends on how many days you realistically expect to use Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
Start by comparing:
- The price difference between the military ticket with and without Multi Pass
- The current daily in-app Multi Pass price (the price varies by day)
- The number of park days on which your family expects to use it
If you know you want Multi Pass every day, the bundled military ticket is usually the simpler comparison.
If you expect to use it on only one day of a longer ticket, buying it separately via the app will prevent you from paying for days when you do not need it.
Do not compare the choices based only on the total ticket price. Compare the additional Multi Pass cost against the number of days your family will actually use the benefit.
STEVE SAYS: You’ll need to decide if you need (or want) Lightning Lane for every day of your 3, 4, or 5-day Disneyland military ticket. If you do, then purchase it when you buy your tickets. But in my experience, you probably don’t need it every day. In the fall of 2025, my adult son and I met at Disneyland after a TDY I had to the area. We had 4-Day Salute Tickets without Lightning Lane. We purchased Lightning Lane Multi Pass via the Disneyland app on 2 of our park days, and we did everything we wanted to do, including all the big rides! (We also purchased LL Single Pass for the best ride in each park).
Disneyland Military Tickets Still Require Theme Park Reservations
Whether your Disneyland military ticket includes Lightning Lane or not, you still need a Theme Park Reservation.
Each guest age three or older must have:
- Valid Disneyland theme park admission
- A Theme Park Reservation for the same date and starting park
Lightning Lane Multi Pass does not provide admission and does not replace the Theme Park Reservation requirement.
For a Park Hopper ticket, reserve the park where you plan to begin the day. You can park hop after the applicable hopping time and subject to park capacity.
PARK RESERVATIONS LINK:
What About Lightning Lane Single Pass at Disneyland?
Lightning Lane Multi Pass does not include every attraction that uses a Lightning Lane entrance.
The highest demand attraction in each park uses Lightning Lane Single Pass instead.
Single Pass is purchased separately in the Disneyland app and is not included simply because your military ticket includes Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
Before purchasing either the bundled ticket or a daily Multi Pass, check which attractions are currently part of Multi Pass and which require a separate Single Pass purchase.
Does Everyone in the Family Need Lightning Lane?
Each person who plans to use a Lightning Lane entrance needs the appropriate Lightning Lane entitlement.
You do not have to purchase it for someone who will not use it.
For example, if one adult and an older child want to ride participating attractions while another adult remains with a young child, only the guests using the Lightning Lane entrance need the pass for that attraction.
However, Disneyland military tickets purchased with Lightning Lane Multi Pass include it as part of that ticket for the full ticket length. You are not choosing different Multi Pass days for that ticket after purchase.
Do You Need Lightning Lane With a Disney Military Ticket?
No. Lightning Lane is optional at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
Traditional standby queues remain available for attractions that offer them.
Whether Lightning Lane is worth purchasing depends on:
- How many park days you have
- How often you visit Disney
- The time of year
- Your attraction priorities
- The ages and interests of your family
- How much you value reducing time in standby lines
- Whether your preferred attractions participate
A first-time family with two park days may place a much higher value on Lightning Lane than an experienced family visiting for a week.
When Lightning Lane Is Most Valuable
I would give Lightning Lane stronger consideration when:
- This is your first visit
- This may be your only visit for several years
- You have a short vacation
- You are visiting during a high-demand period
- Your family has several popular must-do attractions
- You want to reduce the amount of time children spend in standby lines
- You are trying to accomplish attractions in both parks during a Disneyland visit
When You May Be Comfortable Skipping It
You may be comfortable without Lightning Lane when:
- You visit regularly
- You have several park days
- You are willing to arrive early
- Your family prefers shows, atmosphere, dining, and lower-demand attractions
- You are comfortable skipping an attraction and returning another time
- You are planning a relaxed or resort-focused day
Saving money on military tickets does not mean you must purchase Lightning Lane. It also does not mean that adding Lightning Lane eliminates the value of the military discount.
The right question is whether the additional purchase improves this particular vacation enough to justify its cost.
Common Military Ticket and Lightning Lane Mistakes
Assuming Walt Disney World and Disneyland Work the Same Way
They do not.
Walt Disney World military tickets never bundle Lightning Lane. Disneyland military tickets may be sold with it for the full ticket length.
Assuming Park Admission Includes Lightning Lane
A ticket provides park admission. Lightning Lane is a separate entitlement unless it is specifically included with the Disneyland ticket version you purchased.
Forgetting Theme Park Reservations
Disney Military Salute Tickets at Walt Disney World and military tickets at Disneyland require Theme Park Reservations.
Lightning Lane does not replace that requirement.
Buying Disneyland Multi Pass for Every Day Without Considering Your Plans
The bundled ticket may be convenient, but it is not automatically the best value for a family that expects to use Multi Pass on only one day.
Waiting Until the Trip to Link Tickets
Link your military tickets to the appropriate Disney account before your planning window opens.
This allows you to confirm that every guest has valid admission and complete the required reservation and Lightning Lane steps.
Assuming Every Attraction Is Included
Multi Pass includes participating attractions only. Other attractions may require Single Pass, use a standby queue, or operate under another access system.
Steve’s Recommendation
At Walt Disney World: Treat Lightning Lane as a separate vacation-planning decision. Buy the military ticket that best fits your trip first, then decide which park days justify purchasing Multi Pass, Single Pass, or Premier Pass.
At Disneyland: Decide before buying your military tickets whether you expect to use Lightning Lane Multi Pass on every park day. If the answer is yes, compare the bundled ticket. If the answer is no, purchase the ticket without it and consider adding Multi Pass only on the days when it will provide the most value.
The biggest mistake is not choosing one option over the other.
It is buying a ticket without understanding what it includes.
Final Thoughts
Do Disney military tickets include Lightning Lane?
At Walt Disney World, no. Disney Military Salute Tickets and regular military-discounted tickets do not include Lightning Lane. Purchase any Lightning Lane passes separately through the My Disney Experience app.
At Disneyland, it depends. Disney Military Salute Tickets and regular military-discounted tickets can be purchased with or without Lightning Lane Multi Pass for the full length of the ticket. Guests who buy a ticket without the bundled Multi Pass can instead purchase separate daily Lightning Lane Multi Pass access through the Disneyland app, or upgrade their military ticket later by paying the full ticket price difference.
At either destination, check the exact ticket product, link it to the correct Disney account, make all required Theme Park Reservations, and understand which Lightning Lane products are included—or are not included—before your vacation begins.
