It’s no secret that Walt Disney World is expensive, but did you know that there are free things in Disney?
It’s true! Many of the items on this list are even on our must-do list for every visit!
10. Pixie Dust
Peter Pan taught us that all we need is a little faith, trust, and pixie dust – and you can get it in the Magic Kingdom! You can ask any Cast Member is Sir Mickey’s, the store located behind Cinderella Castle, for a little Pixie Dust. They will ask you to close your eyes and make a wish while they wave their magic wand over your head.
Full disclosure – only ask for Pixie Dust if you love glitter because it will stay with you for days!
9. Celebration Pins
Share what you are celebrating in Walt Disney World with Disney’s free celebration pins! You can choose a birthday pin, happily ever after pin, first visit pin, or a generic “I’m celebrating” pin that the Cast Members can personalize for you. This is a great free way to be recognized by Cast Members throughout the day that can also double as a great souvenir of your trip!
8. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade
You may not have had the Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade on your must-do list, but recently in 2022 Walt Disney World has changed this from a $1 pay to play attraction to a completely free walk up attraction in Frontierland! Watch as you shoot the wild west targets and fun things happen. This is a fun activity for the whole family that you might have been walking by for the last 50 years.
7. Club Cool in EPCOT
Club Cool in EPCOT is sponsored by Coca-Cola and they invite guests to taste popular sodas from all over the world. Not only is it nice to get free drinks, it’s really fun to see the different flavors! Sodas like Beverly, an insanely bitter aperitif soda from Italy is infamous for shocking guests with its harsh flavor, and the Plum Soda from China that tastes like carbonated barbeque sauce are fun to try in groups to see how different everyone’s tastes really are.

6. Pull the Sword in the Stone
Since 1983 guests have been able to see if Excalibur has deemed them worthy to pull the sword from the stone. Pulling the sword is an absolute must-do for the entire family because it is so much fun to see it as a generational attraction. Imagine being able to have photos of different generations over time. Plus, we’re waiting for just the right day to be deemed worthy so as to be named King!
5. Pet (Real) Animals
Rafiki’s Planet Watch Petting Zone
No, we’re not talking about Pluto. When in Disney’s Animal Kingdom you can hitch a short ride to Rafiki’s Planet Watch to see the Affection Section. The Affection Section is a true blue petting zoo! You can pet goats and pigs and ask their trainers all about their mannerisms. Why does Disney have goats and pigs? No clue, but some of these animals are pseudo famous! For example, the pig that inspired Pua from Moana calls the Affection Section home.
You can also pet some animals at the Fort Wilderness Circle D Ranch
4. Animation Experience
The Animation Experience gives guests the opportunity to sit down with a Disney animator to learn step by step how to draw a specific Disney character step by step. Not only is this an amazing experience, it also comes with a free souvenir! The Animation Experience is available at select Disney Resorts and at Rafiki’s Planet Watch in Animal Kingdom.
3. Chip ‘n Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long
Head on over to Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground for roasting marshmallows over a campfire while singing campfire songs with your favorite chipmunks! It’s amazing that this incredible experience is a free experience for guests as long as you bring your own s’mores supplies. Be sure to add chocolate, graham crackers, and marshmallows to your resort grocery delivery list, but if you forget, never fear – You can purchase s’mores kits at your resort to participate.
Wilderness Lodge Fire Pit- All Disney Resorts have a fire pit where they roast marshmallows every evening (minus the chipmunks)
2. Movies Under the Stars
While Chip ‘n Dale are only at Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds, every Disney Resort offers movies under the stars! See your favorite Disney movies on the big screen under the stars. Be sure to check with the front desk of your Disney resort to see what movie is showing that night.
1. Visit Disney Springs
Disney Springs is the free shopping district that is so much more than what it seems. You can find exciting snacks and drinks, fine dining, casual dining, shopping and live entertainment. Disney Springs is a great way to spend your non-park days while enjoying the Disney Bubble.

My family’s favorite is walking to the Polynesian (from Shades of Green) to see the Electric Water Pageant our first night at the resort. You can also see it from other Magic Kingdom resorts. It’s an oldie but a goodie
It sure is!
I just watched it in November from the Wilderness Lodge.
