Welcome to Bayou Country, a land that celebrates the soul, rhythm, and flavor of Louisiana.

Nestled along the Rivers of America, this re-imagined area—formerly Critter Country—blends the charm of the American South with Disney storytelling magic. It’s home to the park’s newest attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, along with cozy eateries and riverfront views that make it one of the most relaxing corners of Disneyland.

Attractions

  • Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (H40) (LL Multi) – Join Princess Tiana, Louis the alligator, and friends on a musical journey through the Louisiana bayou as they prepare for a Mardi Gras celebration. This re-imagined flume ride replaces Splash Mountain, featuring new animatronics, original music, and an authentic Southern spirit that captures the joy and perseverance of The Princess and the Frog.
  • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (LL Multi) – Step inside the Hundred Acre Wood for a charming ride through the pages of A.A. Milne’s classic stories. Gentle motion and colorful scenes make this attraction a family favorite for guests of all ages.

Dining

  • Tiana’s Palace (L, D, $$) – Table Service. Inspired by Tiana’s dream restaurant from The Princess and the Frog, this elegant eatery offers dishes like gumbo, shrimp and grits, and beignets with a Creole twist—all served with warm Southern hospitality.
  • The Hungry Bear Restaurant (L, D, $) – Counter Service – Mobile Order. A longtime favorite with outdoor riverfront seating. Enjoy hearty burgers, chicken sandwiches, and salads under shady trees as the Mark Twain Riverboat glides by.
  • Royal Street Sweets (S, $) – Counter Service. Indulge in pralines, fudge, and other traditional New Orleans treats—perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth after a ride through the bayou.

Shopping

  • Eudora’s Chic Boutique featuring Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets – A beautiful boutique named for Tiana’s mother, Eudora. Find kitchenware, apparel, and home décor celebrating Tiana’s entrepreneurial spirit and New Orleans culture.
  • Pooh Corner – Still a must-visit for fans of Winnie the Pooh, this whimsical shop sells plush toys, themed apparel, and Pooh-inspired treats from the adjoining bakery counter.

Ambiance & History

Originally opened as Critter Country in 1988, this area replaced the former Bear Country (1972–1988) and has always embraced a rustic riverside theme. In 2024, it began its transformation into Bayou Country, reflecting the story and setting of The Princess and the Frog.

Disney Imagineers re-themed the area with warm Southern details—wrought-iron balconies, Spanish moss, and jazzy background music—to create a cohesive extension of nearby New Orleans Square. The result is a lively, story-driven land where Tiana’s world comes to life amid the natural beauty of the Rivers of America.

Even with its new identity, Bayou Country maintains its peaceful charm and connection to nature. The sound of the riverboat’s whistle, the rustling of leaves, and the distant jazz melodies make it one of Disneyland’s most atmospheric lands.

Disneyland Park Layout

Bayou Country is tucked into the back corner of Disneyland near the Rivers of America. While it’s a smaller land, it plays an important role as a connector between New Orleans Square and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Bayou Country is connected to:

  • New Orleans Square along the riverside path
  • Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge via the back-side entrance near Rise of the Resistance

Wrap-Up

Bayou Country celebrates resilience, joy, and the spirit of community at the heart of The Princess and the Frog. Whether you’re savoring gumbo at Tiana’s Palace, cruising through her Mardi Gras adventure, or relaxing by the river, this land captures the soul of the bayou—and a new chapter in Disneyland’s ever-evolving story.
