Welcome to San Fransokyo Square, a vibrant reimagining of the former Pacific Wharf area, inspired by the world of Big Hero 6.

Here, East meets West in a bustling coastal district filled with colorful banners, Japanese-inspired architecture, and a touch of high-tech hero flair. It’s a lively blend of San Francisco’s waterfront charm and Tokyo’s modern energy—with plenty of great food options to match.

Attractions

  • The Bakery Tour – Take a short self-guided tour of the Boudin Bakery and watch bakers craft the famous sourdough bread used throughout the Disneyland Resort. You’ll even get a complimentary sample to start your visit.

While the land doesn’t feature thrill rides, it makes up for it with flavorful dining, scenic design, and a chance to meet Hiro and Baymax for an unforgettable character greeting.

Dining

  • Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill (L, D, $$) – Counter Service – Mobile Order. A popular spot for fresh Mexican fare including tacos, burritos, and bowls with grilled meats and zesty salsas.
  • Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop (S, $) – Counter Service. Indulge in rich sundaes, shakes, and other ice cream treats made with world-famous Ghirardelli chocolate.
  • Lucky Fortune Cookery (L, D, $) – Counter Service – Mobile Order. Build-your-own rice bowls with chicken, beef, or tofu, plus a choice of flavorful sauces.
  • Aunt Cass Café (B, L, D, $) – Counter Service – Mobile Order. Named for Hiro’s guardian, this location serves salads, soups, and sandwiches on fresh sourdough bread from Boudin Bakery.
  • Port of San Fransokyo Cervecería (S, $) – Mobile Order. Craft beers and small bites with a casual waterfront vibe.
  • Rita’s Baja Blenders (S, $) – Mobile Order. Frozen margaritas and blended drinks, perfect for a sunny day in San Fransokyo Square.

Shopping

  • San Fransokyo Maker’s Market – Styled as a converted robot repair shop, this open-air marketplace features unique souvenirs, model robots, and Big Hero 6–themed merchandise.
  • Pan-Pacific Pin Traders – A favorite stop for collectors looking to buy or trade Disney pins in a colorful, seaside setting.

Ambiance & History

San Fransokyo Square opened in August 2023, replacing Pacific Wharf, which originally debuted with the park in 2001 as a tribute to California’s coastal canneries and wineries. Pacific Wharf featured restaurants like Pacific Wharf Café and Lucky Fortune Cookery, many of which were reimagined during the transition to the Big Hero 6–inspired San Fransokyo setting.

The transformation turned the once-neutral food court into a lively, story-driven neighborhood complete with lanterns, neon signage, and murals featuring Hiro, Baymax, and their friends. While the architecture now draws heavily from Tokyo’s cityscape, the area still retains the waterfront feel of San Francisco’s piers, blending both cultures into something uniquely Disney.

And yes—the upbeat techno-Japanese music playing throughout the area gives the land an energetic (if occasionally loud) vibe that matches its new futuristic flair.

Disney California Adventure Layout

San Fransokyo Square sits in the park’s western waterfront zone and functions as a major transition area between the “left-side” lands like Cars Land and the Paradise Bay areas like Pixar Pier and Paradise Gardens Park.

San Fransokyo Square is connected to:

  • Cars Land via the main western walkway
  • Pixar Pier along the waterfront route around Paradise Bay
  • Paradise Gardens Park as you continue around Paradise Bay
  • Performance Corridor heading back toward Carthay Circle

Wrap-Up

San Fransokyo Square offers a delicious mix of flavors, cultural fusion, and Pixar-inspired fun. Whether you’re here for tacos and margaritas, a scoop of Ghirardelli ice cream, or to meet Baymax in person, this land delivers a lighthearted, food-forward experience that perfectly complements Disney California Adventure’s diverse atmosphere.
