“Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me!”
That’s what you’ll be singing all day after taking a ride on this classic attraction in Adventureland. Pirates of the Caribbean is the perfect Disney family ride with no height requirements, large, unrestrictive seats, and a fast moving line!
PRO-TIP: If the line is 30 minutes or more and you don’t have a Genie+ Lightning Lane, head over to Aloha Isle just down the way and Mobile Order yourself a Dole Whip to eat in line while you wait.
The Experience
Once you step on to your boat, be ready for adventure! Don’t worry, it’s nothing too crazy, but there will be a lot to look at!
You will start with a lot of darkness. Littles might be afraid in the beginning, but we promise it gets better! In the darkness you will hear an old pirate uttering, “Dead men tell no tales.” Other scary parts you will see here are images of a ghost ship and the skeletons of dead pirates with treasure. You will hear thunder and lightning and the chattering teeth of the slightly scared child next to you and then back to darkness.
***SPOILER ALERT***
Next thing you know, your boat goes down a little drop! There are no seat belts or lap bars on this ride, so that indicates how small of a drop it really is, but when you don’t know it’s coming, or if you’re already on edge, it can really sneak up on you! After the drop, it is all giggles from there.
You are now fully immersed in a town being taken over by pirates! Careful, you might get caught in the cannonfire between the ships! See the town as those scurvy pirates take over homes and how some of the women fight back and turn around and chase the pirates!
Make sure you keep a look out for Captain Jack Sparrow!
Your boat will slowly float through the village until that lovely little song gets completely stuck in your head for all of eternity, and then it is time to float through the dungeons. Here you will see the prisoners try to convince the dog to hand over the keys by offering him a bone.
Finish out the ride by going by Captain Jack sitting quite comfortably in the treasure room amongst all the loot. Seems that even he can’t get that song out of his head.
The Ride
Boats on Pirates of the Caribbean are large boats that can fit 3-4 adults in a row comfortably. There is no height requirement, and pregnant women and infants are able to ride. Mothers may also wear small infants on this ride in chest carriers.
There are no lap bars or seat belts. The seat benches are hard, and you might find them a little wet. We told you to beware of that cannonfire!
