For the second time within a month Military Disney Tips has been featured in the Military Times Off Duty Section.
The last time was just three weeks ago, in a short piece about the projected end of Disney’s Armed Forces Salute.
The Off Duty Section is the flip side (read from the rear of the newspaper) of Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps Times newspapers which are sold in bases worldwide. Off Duty covers many topics having to do with a military member’s off duty time, recreation, health, gadgets, lifestyle, and entertainment are a few areas that they cover.
This week’s edition (dated 25 June 2012) is in military exchanges and stores now, so go pick up a copy for yourself!
The Article
This week’s full length article titled Exclusive Military Getaways covers the Armed Forces Recreation Centers. Military owned and operated resorts world wide, which provide affordable places for military families to relax together and get away from the stress of everyday military life.
I was contacted by Jon Anderson a Senior Staff Writer at Military Times a couple of months ago for this article, we talked for almost an hour and a half. Once you get me started on Disney it’s hard to stop me… While the main reason he contacted me was to talk about Shades of Green (the Armed Forces Recreation Center at Walt Disney World), we talked about all things Disney World related and my career also. You’ll find some of my back story in the article, but you can get the full version on my About Me Page. One of the important points about Shades of Green covered in the article is that they do offer discounts in order to compete with Disney’s Armed Forces Salute.
Armed Forces Recreation Centers – Worldwide
The other Armed Forces Recreation Centers were covered in the article too. Here is a list of all the AFRCs:
- Shades of Green – Walt Disney World, Florida
- Hale Koa – Oahu, Hawaii
- Edelweiss Lodge – Bavaria, Germany
- Dragon Hill Lodge – South Korea
- Cape Henry Inn – Virginia Beach, VA
The article is full of good info on all these resorts!
