Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaiʻi Offers Military Discounts for Eligible Service Members and Their Families

Disney’s Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawaiʻi, offers special military room discounts during select travel periods. These discounts can be a meaningful savings opportunity for eligible military families, especially because Aulani is a premium Disney resort in one of the most expensive vacation destinations in the United States.
But the Aulani military discount is not just a “grab it because it says military” offer. The real question is whether the dates, room type, airfare, and total trip cost make sense for your family.
Steve Says: After staying at Aulani, I look at this discount differently than I would a Walt Disney World or Disneyland hotel discount. Aulani is not a theme park trip. It is a resort vacation. The savings matter, but the biggest value comes when you plan enough time to actually slow down and enjoy the resort.

Is the Aulani Military Discount Worth It?
The Aulani military discount can absolutely be worth it, but the value depends on your total vacation plan. Aulani is expensive, airfare to Hawaiʻi can be expensive, and many of the best extras at the resort cost extra.
The discount helps most when your family already wants an Aulani vacation, your travel dates match the offer window, and you can book a room or villa category that fits your family without overbuying the trip.
Steve Says: I would not plan an Aulani vacation just because a military discount appears. I would use the discount to make a trip I already wanted more reasonable. That is a different way to think about it.
Who This Discount Is Best For
This offer is strongest for military families who want a slower Disney resort vacation instead of a park-heavy trip. Aulani works especially well for families who want pool time, beach time, Disney touches, character moments, and Hawaiʻi scenery without racing from attraction to attraction.
This discount is a good fit if:
- You want a resort-focused vacation rather than a theme park vacation.
- Your family can travel during the listed offer dates.
- You plan to spend meaningful time at the resort.
- You understand that many premium activities, dining experiences, and excursions cost extra.
- You are comparing Aulani against other Hawaiʻi resorts, not against a budget mainland vacation.
When This Discount May Not Be the Best Choice
The Aulani military discount is less helpful if airfare is unusually high, you only plan a very short stay, or your family wants to spend most of the trip touring Oʻahu away from the resort.
If you are only sleeping at Aulani and leaving the resort all day, every day, you may not receive enough value from the premium Disney resort experience. In that case, compare the discounted Aulani rate against other Oʻahu hotels, military lodging options, and split-stay possibilities.
Steve Says: Aulani is at its best when you give yourself permission to stay put. If you are used to Disney park vacations, that can feel strange at first. But that slower pace is part of what makes Aulani special.
What Is Included at Aulani?
Aulani includes many resort activities and amenities in the room price, which helps offset the premium cost of staying there. Aulani does not charge a resort fee.
Included experiences can include:
- Pool areas, lazy river, waterslides, splash areas, and the Ka Maka Grotto infinity pool
- Beach access on the Ko Olina lagoon
- Disney character experiences
- Fireside storytelling
- Movie nights under the stars
- Daily resort activities for different age groups
Some activities and experiences cost extra, including KA WAʻA – A Lūʻau at Aulani, spa services, Rainbow Reef snorkeling, cabanas, beach rentals, premium crafts, and many excursions.
Steve’s Aulani Planning Advice
My biggest Aulani advice is simple: do not treat it like Walt Disney World or Disneyland. You do not need to “rope drop” your vacation. You do not need to fill every minute. Aulani rewards a slower pace.
I would plan enough nights to enjoy the resort without feeling like every pool chair, meal, sunset, and activity has to be squeezed into a tiny window. Aulani is not cheap, even with a military discount, so build the trip around actually using the resort.
I would also pay close attention to room category expectations. View categories can be tricky at any resort, and ocean view does not always mean the sweeping, straight-ahead ocean view people picture in their minds. Know what you are paying for and decide whether that upgrade matters to your family.

Final Thoughts on the Aulani Military Discount
The Aulani military discount can make a dream Hawaiʻi vacation more realistic for eligible military families, but it does not automatically make Aulani a budget trip. The best use of this offer is to lower the cost of a resort vacation you are already excited to take.
If your family wants Disney theming, Hawaiʻi scenery, pool time, beach time, and a slower pace than a theme park vacation, Aulani can be a wonderful choice. Just go in with realistic expectations, compare the full cost, and plan enough time to enjoy the resort.
R&R is even better in paradise!
