Mickey’s Philharmagic at Walt Disney World

Nestled in the center of Fantasyland is Mickey’s Philharmagic, a 3D movie experience featuring Donald Duck in a musical adventure going through your favorite Disney movies.

This attraction is for the whole family and will create lasting memories for years to come.

Forget the heat of Florida when you walk into the luxurious theater draped in velvet and rich tones. Be sure to look along the walls at the performance posters. You are sure to see a lot of familiar names and faces!

The Wait

One of the most beautiful things about Mickey’s Philharmagic is there is hardly ever a wait! Even on the busiest days in the Magic Kingdom, there is only typically a 10 minute wait, which is the duration of the previous show. Essentially, you are just waiting for the current show to end.

Lightning Lanes are available for Mickey’s Philharmagic, but really are not necessary since you still have to wait for the current show to end.

The Show

Grab your opera glasses (3D glasses) and make your way down the line of seats! This show will engage all of your senses. You will see a movie jumping out at you, feel wind and maybe a spritz of little water, hear your favorite music, and even smell different scenes.

We don’t want to give any spoilers, but let’s just say it should be called Donald’s Philharmagic! Donald is really the star of the show while he works to retrieve the hat that he stole… Oops.

It’s killing us to not give away the ending but let’s just say this…

TURN AROUND AT THE END OF THE SHOW!

Disney Fun Facts:
●      The theater contains 468 seats
●      Some of the featured films original animators helped work on the 3D film for Mickey’s Philharmagic
●      Many of Donald Duck’s mutterings during the film were sound bytes taken from classic shorts with the O.G., the original Donal Duck!
●      Mickey’s Philharmagic opened in 2003, and before that it was a puppet show, “Legend of the Lion King”, a film called “Magic Journey”, and Mickey Mouse Musical Revue (which was moved to Tokyo Disney when it opened)
●      The lighting system used was technology Disney learned from Disney Tokyo Sea
●      The theater screen is the largest seamless projector screen in the world!
●      For the first time in a Disney animated show / short / film, there were NO hand drawings from start to finish. The entire project was created on a computer.

As is standard practice in all Disney theatre attractions, the cast will ask you to select a row and move all the way to the end, and not plopping down in the middle of the row. Do what they say, this is so others do not have to try to get by you to fill the empty seats past you as the theatre fills. If you want to sit in the middle of a row, wait to the side for a bit and allow one to fill about half way before you enter it.
