If you’re like many military families planning a Disney vacation, you’ve likely asked: “Can I upgrade my Disney military tickets after I’ve already bought them?”
Maybe you want to add a water park day, stay longer, or even convert your ticket into an Annual Pass.
The good news? Yes, you can make changes to your Disney Armed Forces Salute tickets, as long as the ticket hasn’t been fully used. But there are some very specific rules you need to know.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through exactly what changes are allowed, how much they cost, where to make them, and a few pro tips to make the process easier for military families.
What Kind of Disney Military Ticket Do You Have?
There are two totally different military discount programs for Disney’s parks!
Disney’s special military discount program—known as the Armed Forces Salute—offers specially priced 4-day, 5-day, and 6-day tickets at Disney World, and 3-day and 4-day tickets for Disneyland for eligible U.S. military members and their families.
Disney’s regular military discount program—known as Military Theme Park Tickets—offers discounted 1-day to 10-day tickets for Disney World and 1-day to 5-day tickets for Disneyland
These tickets should be purchased through:
- A military base ticket office
- The Shades of Green Resort at Walt Disney World
Note, you can purchase them in person from Disney, but all military tickets require Theme Park Reservations that need to be made well in advance for busy periods.
Also, all sales through military ticket offices and Shades of Green are final. That means you can’t cancel or exchange them through those channels.
But don’t worry—you can still make changes. You just need to do it in person at Walt Disney World or Disneyland.
What Changes Can You Make?
As long as your ticket hasn’t been fully used (meaning you haven’t used all your available park days), you can:
- Add Park Hopper (the ability to visit multiple parks per day)
- Add Park Hopper Plus (includes access to water parks, mini golf, and more)
- Upgrade from 4-day to 5-day or 6-day at Disney World, and 3-day to 4-day at Disneyland
- Upgrade to an Annual Pass
- Add Link Lightning Lane Multi Pass at Disneyland
Once you’ve used all your park days, your ticket is considered fully used and can no longer be changed or upgraded.
Also, no matter how many days you might have used already, when adding Park Hopper, Park Hopper Plus, or Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you will have to add it for the full length of the original ticket! So, it is best to do this at the start of your trip.
Where to Make Changes
All upgrades and changes must be made in person at Walt Disney World or Disneyland:
- Any theme park ticket window
- Guest Relations (located outside the parks or at Disney Springs)
Your military base ticket office and Shades of Green cannot process upgrades. They’re authorized to sell the tickets, but any modifications are handled solely by Disney Cast Members at Walt Disney World.
What Will It Cost?
There’s no change fee, but you’ll be required to pay:
- The difference in price between your current ticket and the new version
- Sales tax on the difference (even if your original ticket was tax-free)
Heads up:
The Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets are the same price as Disney (with tax added), but the MIlitary Theme Park tickets are not sold by Disney, so they will convert your Military Theme Park Tickets to the general public versions, which are more expensive, and then tax is added!
No refunds are given for downgrades. If you paid for a 6-day ticket and only use 4 days, you won’t get any money back.
How to Upgrade Your Disney Military Tickets
- Review your current ticket (in My Disney Experience or physical ticket media).
- Visit a Walt Disney World ticket window or Guest Relations location.
- Bring your valid military ID and any ticket receipts or confirmations.
- Request your upgrade (add days, Park Hopper Plus, or Annual Pass).
- Pay the price difference plus tax.
- Verify your updated ticket in the My Disney Experience app.
Tips for a Smooth Experience
- Make changes early—before using all ticket days.
- Keep your purchase receipt or confirmation email.
- If upgrading to an Annual Pass, do so before your last park day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I upgrade to Park Hopper Plus if I’ve already started using my ticket?
A: Yes—as long as you haven’t used up all your days, you can still upgrade.
Q: Can I convert my Salute ticket to an Annual Pass?
A: Yes, if passes are being sold. You must upgrade before using your final ticket day.
Q: I bought my ticket at Shades of Green. Can I go back there to make changes?
A: Yes. Shades of Green can modify the tickets that they originally sold.

A: Yes. At Disneyland, it can be added to your military tickets. At Walt Disney World, it is a separate purchase made in the My Disney Experience app. It doesn’t require a ticket change.

A: At that point, the ticket is considered fully used and no longer eligible for changes.
✍️ Final Thoughts
Disney’s Armed Forces Salute tickets are one of the best deals around—but life happens, and sometimes plans change.
Thankfully, you’ve got options. As long as your ticket isn’t fully used, you can upgrade or modify it in person at Walt Disney World for just the price difference and tax. Modifying Military Theme Park Tickets can be cost-prohibitive.

According to Shades of Green, they can no longer modify tickets that you purchased from them. They told me that it was a change made by Disney this year.
Thanks, Natalie.
