From the upstairs Boardwalk Dining to the Pixar-packed Lamplight Lounge (and its secret “Office”), this is a must-do spot at Disney California Adventure.
Location
You’ll find Lamplight Lounge on the right-hand side after you cross the bridge into Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure. Overlooking Paradise Bay and the launch of the Incredicoaster, this restaurant is hard to miss and perfectly positioned for waterfront dining.
Its two levels of seating give guests different experiences, whether you’re looking for a breezy cocktail on the pier or a full-service meal with Pixar flair.
Ambiance & Theming
Lamplight Lounge blends the feel of a trendy gastropub with Disney’s signature storytelling. The design mixes exposed brick, wood, and industrial-chic details with whimsical Pixar artwork and animator sketches. It feels like a space where creativity and imagination flow freely.
The atmosphere upstairs is casual and open-air, perfect for sipping a drink in the sunshine. Downstairs offers a fuller dining experience, with indoor tables surrounded by Pixar décor, bar seating at the heart of the action, and a waterfront patio for outdoor meals with spectacular views.
Upstairs – Lamplight Lounge: Boardwalk Dining
The upstairs section, officially called Lamplight Lounge: Boardwalk Dining, is a relaxed, walk-up area. Here you’ll find metal umbrella tables and bar seating that make it feel breezy and casual.
The menu is lighter than the downstairs dining room, focusing on cocktails, mocktails, and small plates. It’s an excellent place to enjoy Pixar Pier at sunset or watch the colorful lights come on after dark.
Downstairs – Lamplight Lounge
The main restaurant, simply called Lamplight Lounge, is located downstairs and provides a full-service dining experience. Inside, Pixar-inspired details fill the space, from sketch art to props and nods to the creative process of animation.
Guests can choose from indoor dining, bar seating, or the open-air section right on the water. Each offers its own vibe: cozy indoors, lively at the bar, or scenic al fresco. On weekends, Lamplight Lounge also serves a popular breakfast menu, making it one of the few spots in Disney California Adventure where you can enjoy a sit-down brunch.
The Office (Secret Room)
Hidden off the downstairs dining area is one of Disney’s best-kept secrets: The Office. This intimate room is accessed through a vault-style door and was originally created as a private retreat for Disney Imagineers and Pixar illustrators when visiting the park.
See my family’s lunch in the Office!
Inside, you’ll find Pixar sketches, cozy booth seating, and playful touches that make it feel like an animator’s hideaway. The space also has a private patio with incredible views of Paradise Bay and the Incredicoaster. The Office isn’t something you can request or reserve—it’s pure Pixie Dust when guests are randomly seated there. For those lucky enough to experience it, it becomes a highlight of any Disney trip.
Menu Highlights
The menu at Lamplight Lounge is a creative mix of California-inspired gastropub fare with a Pixar twist.
- Famous Holdovers: Lobster Nachos from the old Cove Bar menu are still here and as popular as ever.
- Entrees: Burgers, pasta, and hearty plates perfect for sharing.
- Breakfast: On weekends, the breakfast menu includes unique brunch-style dishes you won’t find elsewhere in the park.
- Drinks: Pixar-themed cocktails and mocktails are a huge part of the experience. Whether you’re seated upstairs or downstairs, the beverage menu is one of the highlights.
Reservations
- Downstairs Lamplight Lounge requires reservations, which often fill quickly. Advance dining reservations are strongly recommended.
- Boardwalk Dining upstairs does not take reservations and is strictly walk-up, making it a good option if you couldn’t score a table downstairs.
- The Office cannot be reserved—it’s only offered at random, adding to the mystery and magic.
Wrap-Up / Final Thoughts
Lamplight Lounge is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience that blends Pixar storytelling with great food, drinks, and atmosphere. Upstairs Boardwalk Dining is casual and convenient, perfect for a quick drink or snack, while the downstairs Lamplight Lounge delivers a full dining experience with Pixar personality in every detail. And for the luckiest guests, a seat in The Office transforms the meal into one of Disney’s most unforgettable dining moments.
