What to Expect When Disney Announces the 2026 Armed Forces Salute
When Disney announces a new Disney Armed Forces Salute, excitement—and chaos—quickly follow. If the 2026 Disney military discount is renewed, here’s exactly what to expect on announcement day and how to handle your Disney resort reservations without losing your sanity (or your savings).
Salute Renewal Background
Each fall, military families eagerly wait to hear if Disney will renew the Disney Armed Forces Salute for another year. Based on past experience—and years of helping readers through renewal days since 2009—I can tell you that the process is rarely smooth.
This guide explains what really happens when the new Disney military room and ticket offers are released, how to handle existing reservations, and what steps to take to lock in the best rate.
What to Expect from the 2026 Offers
Disney is likely to renew the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort Armed Forces Salute for 2026, running from January 1 through mid-December 2026, with blackout dates around Spring Break and Thanksgiving.
But remember—the room discount is limited. Each resort offers only a certain number of rooms per night, and availability depends on your dates, resort, and room type. Over the past few years, Disney has tightened control by offering variable discounts (up to about 30%) based on demand.

Quick Facts
- Announcement Day Tips: Disney’s site and ITT offices update quickly; resort phone lines flood within hours.
- Eligibility Reminder: Verify your military ID type before calling or booking.
- How to Book: Contact The Mouse Experts early for room availability.
- Ticket Activation: Most tickets must be activated at Guest Relations on arrival.
- Last updated: October 28, 2025
Converting an Existing Reservation
Many guests are told they can convert a previously booked general-public reservation to the Armed Forces Salute rate. That’s not always true.
If your resort, room type, or travel dates aren’t available at the Salute rate, Disney will require a new reservation—sometimes at a different resort or in a different room type. On rare occasions, a Cast Member can adjust an existing booking seamlessly, but it’s never guaranteed.
What to Expect on Announcement Day
1) No Warning — Be Ready
Disney rarely gives advance notice. If you’re not watching online, you may miss it—unless you’re subscribed to my Military Disney Tips Email Newsletter. I’ll send you the announcement right away.
2) Long Wait Times
Once the news drops, expect jammed phone lines. Wait times of one to two hours (or more) are common. Be patient—many calls are dropped or transferred multiple times.
3) Glitches and Delays
Disney sometimes posts the Salute online before systems are ready to take bookings—or even takes the post down after publishing by mistake. Reservation systems may not update for hours; occasionally it’s taken a full day before Cast Members could process Salute rates.
4) Confused Cast Members
Not every Cast Member will know about the new offer immediately. Some may insist the discount doesn’t exist yet. Be polite but firm, and ask them to check for the new booking code. If necessary, request a supervisor or hang up and call again.
5) Base Ticket Offices Will Lag
Your local ITT or MWR office will be among the last to receive official confirmation. Ticket distribution takes time—especially for base offices outside major hubs. It can take weeks (or even months) before every location has the new tickets in stock.
6) Ticket Timing
Disney may or may not specify when 2026 tickets will go on sale. Typically, Walt Disney World tickets appear first—often at Disney locations and Shades of Green—followed by distribution to base ticket offices. If your local base delays sales, order long-distance from another base that sells remotely.
The First Few Days Are Always Bumpy
Let’s be honest—Disney has never rolled out a new Armed Forces Salute without hiccups. Phone delays, website errors, confused Cast Members—these come with the territory. Knowing what to expect makes it less stressful and helps you plan accordingly.
Skip the Stress—Let the Pros Handle It
Let The Mouse Experts, Military Disney Tips’ recommended military-family Disney travel agency, handle it for you! They’ll monitor for the 2026 Salute release, call Disney on your behalf, and secure the best possible rate—without you spending hours on hold.

Frequently Asked Questions — 2026 Disney Armed Forces Salute Announcement Day
Will Disney give advance notice before announcing the 2026 Armed Forces Salute?
Usually no. Disney rarely pre-announces Salute details. To avoid missing it, join my email newsletter for instant alerts.
Can I convert my existing reservation to the Salute rate?
Sometimes—but not guaranteed. Conversion depends on Salute availability for your exact dates, resort, and room type. If it’s not available, you’ll need a new reservation (possibly at a different resort/room type).
Why are phone waits so long on announcement day?
Thousands of military families call at once. Expect 60–120 minutes (or more), transfers, and occasional dropped calls.
What if the Cast Member says the Salute isn’t out yet?
Kindly ask them to check for the new booking code or request a supervisor. Not everyone is updated immediately.
When will 2026 tickets be available to purchase?
Disney may not specify a sale date. Historically, WDW tickets appear first at Disney locations and Shades of Green, then roll out to base ticket offices. If your base delays, buy long-distance from a base that sells remotely.
What should I do right now to prepare?
Subscribe to alerts, decide your target resorts and dates, and consider using The Mouse Experts to monitor and book the moment the rate opens.
