How to Save on Dining at Disney: Military Discounts, Disney Visa Savings & Other Smart Strategies
A trip to Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort is always memorable — but meals and snacks can add up quickly. The good news is that there are real ways to save on dining, including military-specific discounts, Disney Visa card perks, restaurant loyalty programs, and strategic budgeting tricks.
Whether you’re planning a celebration dinner at a resort restaurant, grabbing quick bites in the parks, or exploring Disney Springs or Downtown Disney, here’s exactly how to save money on food at Disney.
This guide rounds up where military savings most often appear (spoiler: third-party locations), the best cardholder deals, how to stack with discounted Disney gift cards, and a few powerful loyalty programs that work on Disney property.
Quick Take
- Disney-operated restaurants don’t offer military discounts, but many third-party spots at Disney Springs and Downtown Disney do (typically 10–20% with a valid military ID).
- Disney® Visa® Card: save 10% at select dining locations most days when you pay with your card (excludes alcohol; locations change).
- Landry’s Select Club (one-time $25 fee) works at Rainforest Café, T-REX, and Yak & Yeti—earn points (1=$1), get a $25 welcome reward, a $25 birthday reward, and priority seating.
- Gift card stacking: Warehouse clubs periodically discount Disney gift cards (e.g., Sam’s Club, BJ’s), creating easy extra savings before you ever order food.
Military Dining Discounts at Walt Disney World
While Disney-owned restaurants inside the theme parks do not offer direct military dining discounts (with one notable exception), there are several ways to save.
Disney Springs & Resort Dining
Many third-party restaurants located at Disney Springs, Disney’s BoardWalk, and EPCOT do offer military discounts when you present a valid U.S. Military ID.
- Most common discount: 10% off
- Some offer 15%–20% or weekday-only specials
- Discounts may exclude alcohol or special menu items

Plus, you earn Disney Rewards Dollars with every purchase you make back home, and those rewards can be redeemed directly for meals at Disney.
That means every day spending → turns into free Disney food.
Earn Disney Dining Money Before You Travel
Buy Discounted Disney Gift Cards
When warehouse clubs run promos, you can lock in extra savings by buying Disney gift cards below face value, then using them to pay for meals.
Warehouse clubs and retailers that sell Disney gift cards at a discount:
- Sam’s Club, frequently runs limited-time deals (e.g., $200 cards for $180)
- BJ’s
- Occasionally Costco
- Target RedCard 5% discount
You can use Disney gift cards to pay for:
- Quick-service meals
- Table-service dining
- Snacks
- EPCOT & Disney California Adventure festival booths
Stack This With Disney Visa Rewards
Use your Disney Visa for normal daily purchases → earn Rewards Dollars → redeem them to pay for your dining.
Combine Rewards + discounted gift cards + restaurant discounts, and the savings start to add up quickly.
Go Where Discounts Are Common: Disney Springs & Downtown Disney
Unlike the parks, many restaurants at Disney Springs and Downtown Disney are third-party operated. These restaurants often provide:
- Military discounts
- Disney Visa discounts
- Restaurant loyalty program discounts
This is one of the simplest and most reliable ways to reduce your food spending without changing your dining plans.

On a grand note about Landry’s club restaurants, as a member you get VIP seating. Bubba Gump shrimp at Universal studios is one of their restaurants. The first time the wife and I walked out of universal hungry and tired, we went to the maitre’d and showed them our Landry’s card to get on the wait list. There were no less than 50 people setting around waiting for a table. They walked us right in. The 25 dollars is a small price to pay believe me and it is very worth it as you get it back on your birthday. every year.
Great intel, Terry, thanks!
