Every fall, military families planning next year’s Disney vacations start asking the same question:

When will Disney announce the 2027 Armed Forces Salute?

To date, Disney has not announced a 2027 Disney Armed Forces Salute for either Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort.

That is not unusual.

Based on Disney’s post-2020 announcement history, I’m watching two windows for the 2027 offers: the third full week of October and Veterans Day through November 13. If Disney follows the pattern from the 2024 and 2025 offers, we could hear something in late October. If not, Veterans Day and the couple of days immediately after it are my next best bet.

But if Halloween comes and goes without an announcement, I would not take that as a sign that the Salute is going away.

The important thing to remember is that the Disney Armed Forces Salute is a temporary military benefit that Disney decides whether to renew each year. Until Disney announces the 2027 offers, there is no guarantee that they will return.

In this article, I’ll explain the recent announcement pattern, why we no longer expect the Salute in September, what I think will happen for 2027, and what military families should do while they wait.

Why Hasn’t Disney Announced the 2027 Military Discount Yet?

The military community often starts looking for the next year’s discounts months before Disney is ready to announce them.

That makes sense. Walt Disney World vacation planning begins well in advance, and Disney can have regular resort rates and even general public discounts available for the following year while military families are still waiting to hear about the Armed Forces Salute.

But the military offers follow a different process.

For many years, I have reported that Disney does not finalize the next Disney Armed Forces Salute until after its Revenue Generation Board meets and reviews the company’s financial outlook going forward.

That annual business decision is one reason the Salute does not appear simply because Disney has opened regular bookings for the next calendar year.

And unlike a permanent military benefit, the Armed Forces Salute must be renewed.

The Disney Armed Forces Salute Is a Temporary Offer

One of the most important things for military families to understand is that the Disney Armed Forces Salute is not guaranteed to continue forever.

The current run of mostly back-to-back Salutes began in 2009. Since then, Disney has offered discounts covering partial years, complete calendar years, and—in earlier years—more than one year at a time.

There has even been a lapse.

In 2012, the existing Salute ended before its replacement was ready. The room discounts returned first, followed by the military ticket offer after Disney completed its agreement with the Department of Defense.

So when I say that I expect another Armed Forces Salute for 2027, that is a prediction based on the program’s long history and recent pattern.

It is not an announcement from Disney.

Until Disney says otherwise, military families should not make a nonrefundable vacation decision that depends upon receiving a 2027 Armed Forces Salute discount.

The “Disney Armed Forces Salute” Is Actually Several Offers

Another reason these announcements can be confusing is that what the military community casually calls “the Armed Forces Salute” is not one single discount.

For our purposes, there are four major offers:

• Walt Disney World Disney Military Salute Tickets
• Walt Disney World military resort room discount
• Disneyland Resort Military Salute Tickets
• Disneyland Resort military hotel discount

The ticket programs and room discounts are administered differently; Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort operate their offers separately, and at each resort the ticket and room offers are separate offers.

That matters when announcement season arrives.

Walt Disney World can announce before Disneyland. Ticket and hotel information can appear at different times. One offer appearing does not mean every other military discount has also been released.

We saw another example of that with the 2026 offers.

The Old September Announcement Pattern Is Gone

Before 2020, predicting the Armed Forces Salute announcement was easier.

From 2015 through 2019, the calendar-year Salutes were announced in late September of the preceding year.

That historical pattern is why some military families still start getting nervous when September ends without an announcement.

I no longer use September as the benchmark.

The 2020 shutdown disrupted Disney operations and broke the old announcement cycle. The Salute eventually returned, but its announcement timing shifted much later in the year.

The modern history is much more useful for predicting 2027.

Recent Disney Armed Forces Salute Announcement Dates

Here is what Walt Disney World has done since the disruption of 2020:

The delayed 2021 offer was an obvious outlier caused by the reaction to COVID.

Remove that year, and the modern pattern becomes much clearer: third week in October through just after Veterans Day.

Disneyland has leaned even more heavily toward November in recent years.

The 2024 Disneyland Resort Salute was announced November 14, 2023. The 2025 offer followed on November 14, 2024.

For 2026, Disney used Veterans Day—November 11, 2025—to announce military offers for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. Disneyland’s 2026 Military Salute Tickets then became available for purchase on November 18.

The lesson is important:

Late October has been the recent pattern, but an early-to-mid-November announcement is clearly still possible.

So, When Will Disney Announce the 2027 Armed Forces Salute?

I’m betting on 2 weeks. The first week to watch is the third full week of October (midweek). If not then, Veterans Day to a couple of days after.

My practical prediction for military families is:

• First window to watch: October 19–23, 2026
• Second window to watch: November 11–13, 2026
• Do not panic if October passes without an announcement.

I also would not assume Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort will announce on the same day.

Sometimes they do.

But in recent years, they haven’t.

If Walt Disney World announces first, that does not mean Disneyland has forgotten about its military families—or vice versa.

What About the Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket?

The Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket adds a new wrinkle to the 2027 question.

Walt Disney World introduced this special ticket for 2026 as part of Disney’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

Unlike the traditional 4-, 5-, and 6-Day Disney Military Salute Tickets, the Disney Celebrates America Ticket allows eligible military guests to visit Walt Disney World repeatedly through December 18, 2026, subject to its reservation requirements and blockout dates.

Disney continued selling the traditional Disney Military Salute Tickets alongside it.

That is important because I would not treat the Disney Celebrates America Ticket as a replacement for the traditional Salute or assume that a similar ticket will automatically exist in 2027.

It was introduced for a unique anniversary year.

However, there is one interesting reason not to dismiss the idea of some future version entirely.

Disney surveyed at least some purchasers of the Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket about the offer.

We do not know the results of those surveys, what Disney learned from them, or whether the company ultimately decided that a similar product makes financial sense.

But Disney asking purchasers about the ticket tells us that it was at least evaluating the product and the guest response to it.

That leaves open the possibility that Disney could eventually offer another extended-use military ticket—presumably under a different name once America’s 250th-anniversary celebration is over.

That is a possibility, not something I would build a 2027 vacation plan around.

For now, the question we can reasonably ask is still the traditional one:

Will Disney renew its regular Armed Forces Salute ticket and room offers for 2027?

If Disney surprises us with a successor to the Celebrates America Ticket, I would treat that as an additional benefit rather than an expected part of the annual Salute.

What Should You Do While Waiting for the 2027 Announcement?

The biggest mistake is letting uncertainty about the military discount stop the rest of your vacation planning.

If you are planning a Walt Disney World trip and already know your dates, resort, or room category, I would not wait for the Armed Forces Salute before making a reservation you can live with.

Book a rate you are comfortable paying.

Then, if Disney releases a military room discount that covers your dates and has inventory available at your resort, you can book a new reservation using the Disney Armed Forces Salute room offer and cancel your original reservation once the new one is secured.

The announcement of a 2027 military room offer will not mean that every Disney resort, room type, and travel date suddenly has discounted availability.

What About 2027 Tickets?

There is less reason to rush into buying the wrong ticket simply because the 2027 Disney Military Salute has not been announced yet.

Historically, the next year’s Salute Tickets become available after Disney announces the offer.

If Disney renews the program for 2027, I will publish the prices, eligibility rules, purchase procedures, expiration dates, blockout dates, and other important details as soon as they become available.

If Disney does not renew the Salute, eligible military guests will still have other discounted ticket options.

This is one of those Disney announcements where the military community starts moving very quickly once the news breaks.
