Disney World versus Universal Orlando Fish Fry Throw Down

By Erin Schreiver 2 Comments

When it comes to theme parks, food can be just as important as the rides and attractions. And for seafood lovers, there’s nothing quite like a good old-fashioned fish fry.

Two of the biggest theme parks in the world, Disney World and Universal Studios, both offer their own takes on this classic dish. At Disney World’s EPCOT, the Yorkshire Fish Shop in the UK Pavilion is known for its traditional English-style fish and chips. Meanwhile, Universal Orlando’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter features two iconic restaurants, the Leaky Cauldron and the Three Broomsticks, that serve up their own unique twists on fish and chips. So, which park has the best fish fry? It’s time for a throw down to find out!

Disney World

Welcome, seafood lovers! If you’re looking for a tasty and traditional fish fry in the heart of Walt Disney World, look no further than the Yorkshire Fish Shop in the UK Pavilion at EPCOT. This quick-service restaurant is located in the back of the pavilion, tucked away in a cozy corner near the Rose and Crown pub. The Yorkshire Fish Shop is a charming and authentic spot that offers an English-style fish and chips dish that’s sure to please your taste buds.

The fish and chips at the Yorkshire Fish Shop are made fresh to order, with a perfectly crispy batter that complements the flaky and tender fish inside. The chips are thick-cut and perfectly salted, making for a delicious and satisfying meal. Plus, the portions are generous, so you’ll definitely leave feeling full and satisfied.

As good as the fish is, it’s important to note that the Yorkshire Fish Shop doesn’t have any indoor seating, and what seating there is outside is very minimal.

If you’re looking for a more formal dining experience, the Rose and Crown pub next door offers a fish fry on their menu as well. While it’s a bit pricier than the quick-service option, it’s still a great choice for those looking to indulge in some classic British cuisine.

Overall, the Yorkshire Fish Shop is a great spot for anyone craving a delicious fish fry at EPCOT. The location is convenient, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is charming and cozy. Whether you’re visiting the UK Pavilion for the first time or you’re a regular at Walt Disney World, the Yorkshire Fish Shop is a must-visit destination for seafood fans.

Universal Studios

Welcome, wizards and muggles! If you find yourself wandering through the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at the Universal Orlando Resort, you’ll want to make sure to stop by the Leaky Cauldron or the Three Broomsticks for a delicious meal. Both of these iconic restaurants serve up a mean fish fry, along with a variety of other mouth-watering menu items that will transport you straight to the wizarding world.

Let’s start with the fish fry at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. The Leaky Cauldron’s fish and chips are made with North Atlantic cod, lightly battered and fried to perfection. The fish is tender and flaky, and the chips are crispy and delicious. The dish is served with tartar sauce and a side of mushy peas, a traditional British accompaniment that might sound strange to American palates but is actually quite tasty.

Wizarding World of Harry Potter Three Broomsticks

At the Three Broomsticks in Universal Studios Florida, the fish fry is made with a sustainable and delicious Icelandic cod. The batter is light and crispy, and the fish is flaky and flavorful. The dish is served with a side of chips and tartar sauce, and it’s the perfect way to refuel after a day of exploring the Wizarding World.

But that’s not all these restaurants have to offer. The Leaky Cauldron and the Three Broomsticks both serve up a variety of other delicious menu items that will make your taste buds sing. The Leaky Cauldron offers hearty British fare like bangers and mash, shepherd’s pie, and ploughman’s platter, while the Three Broomsticks has classic American dishes like rotisserie chicken and ribs.

And of course, both restaurants serve up plenty of wizarding world specialties, like butterbeer (in both regular and frozen form), pumpkin juice, and firewhisky. Whether you’re in the mood for a full meal or just a quick snack, the Leaky Cauldron and the Three Broomsticks have got you covered.

Overall, the fish fry at the Leaky Cauldron and the Three Broomsticks is a must-try for any Harry Potter fan visiting Universal Studios. But don’t stop there – these restaurants have so much more to offer, and you won’t want to miss out on any of it. So grab your wand and your appetite, and head on over to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for a magical dining experience you’ll never forget.

Comparing the Fish Fries!

Comparing the fish fry at EPCOT’s Yorkshire Fish Shop to the one at Universal Studios’ Leaky Cauldron and Three Broomsticks is like comparing apples to oranges. While both are delicious in their own right, they offer two very different takes on this classic dish.

The Yorkshire Fish Shop’s fish and chips are traditional English-style, with a thick batter that’s crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. The chips are also thick-cut and perfectly salted, and the dish is served with tartar sauce for dipping. The portion size is generous and the price is reasonable for a quick-service restaurant.

On the other hand, the fish fry at the Leaky Cauldron and Three Broomsticks is made with Icelandic cod, a sustainable and delicious alternative to the traditional North Atlantic cod used in the Yorkshire Fish Shop’s dish. The batter is light and crispy, and the fish is flaky and flavorful. The dish is served with chips and tartar sauce, and the side of mushy peas is a unique and tasty addition.

Both restaurants offer their own unique take on fish and chips, and both are worth trying if you’re a fan of this classic dish. The Yorkshire Fish Shop is a great choice for those looking for a quick, traditional English-style fish fry, while the Leaky Cauldron and Three Broomsticks offer a sustainable and delicious alternative with a unique twist.

Ultimately, the choice between the two comes down to personal preference. If you’re a traditionalist and prefer a thick, crispy batter, the Yorkshire Fish Shop is the way to go. But if you’re open to trying something new and are a fan of sustainable seafood, the fish fry at the Leaky Cauldron and Three Broomsticks is definitely worth a taste.

Do either of these fish batters contain beer or any alcohol at all?
