So come along and join us as we explore the sights, sounds, and magic of the parades in Magic Kingdom.
Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade
Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade is one of the most beloved and popular parades in Magic Kingdom at Disney World. This spectacular event takes place every afternoon, usually around 3:00 PM, and is a highlight of any visit to the park. The parade is a vibrant, colorful, and lively celebration of Disney’s most iconic characters, featuring a dazzling array of floats, costumes, music, and special effects.
The Festival of Fantasy Parade begins with the sound of trumpets and a majestic fanfare, signaling the arrival of Mickey and Minnie Mouse on their own float, dressed in their finest royal attire. From there, the parade showcases a wide variety of characters and stories, including classic Disney princesses, heroes and villains, and even characters from more recent Disney movies like Frozen and Moana.
One of the most impressive aspects of the Festival of Fantasy Parade is the intricacy and detail of the floats. Each one is a work of art, featuring elaborate designs, stunning colors, and intricate moving parts. For example, the Tangled float features Rapunzel’s tower, complete with glowing lanterns, while the Little Mermaid float features a giant clamshell with Ariel and Prince Eric inside.
Another highlight of the Festival of Fantasy Parade is the music, which is a lively and upbeat soundtrack that perfectly captures the magic and energy of Disney. The parade features a mix of classic Disney songs and newer hits, all performed with energy and enthusiasm by a talented group of singers and musicians.
Finally, the Festival of Fantasy Parade also features a number of special effects and surprises that are sure to delight guests of all ages. For example, the Maleficent dragon float is a highlight of the parade, featuring a stunning animatronic dragon that breathes fire and moves its head and wings.
Overall, Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade is a must-see event for anyone visiting Magic Kingdom at Disney World. With its stunning floats, lively music, and magical special effects, this parade captures the spirit and joy of Disney in a way that’s sure to leave a lasting impression on all who see it.
Using Lightning Lanes for the Festival of Fantasy Parade
New with the Genie+ program is the ability to use a Lightning Lane for the Festival of Fantasy Parade. This Lightning Lane grants guests prime seating right at the hub of the Magic Kingdom in front of the castle. No more waiting for an hour for a good seat, just snag a Lightning Lane!
Best Seats for the Parade With No Lightning Lane
Crowds will gather around on Main Street waiting in the hot sun just to have a coveted seat on the curb. We get it. It’s nostalgia! But if you want to enjoy the best view of the parade without the crowd, hang around Frontierland!
The parade actually enters the park next to the former Splash Mountain and there is rarely a fight for a front row spot!
Magic Kingdom Cavalcades
In addition to the Festival of Fantasy Parade, Magic Kingdom at Disney World also features a unique experience known as the Cavalcade. This is a type of mini-parade or procession that takes place throughout the day, and is designed to offer guests a more intimate and spontaneous encounter with their favorite Disney characters.
The Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade features a wide variety of characters from across the Disney universe, including classic favorites like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck, as well as newer characters from movies like Toy Story, The Incredibles, and Coco. Guests may also see characters who aren’t typically featured in the Festival of Fantasy Parade, such as Moana, and the Country Bears..
One of the benefits of the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade is that it offers a more spontaneous and unpredictable experience than the Festival of Fantasy Parade. Because the cavalcade can happen at any time and in any part of the park, guests may have the opportunity to see characters that they wouldn’t have seen otherwise, or to experience a more personal interaction with their favorite characters.
Another benefit of the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade is that it is a more flexible and adaptable experience than the Festival of Fantasy Parade. Because the cavalcade is not a set event with a set route, it can be adjusted or modified as needed to accommodate changing weather conditions, crowd sizes, or other factors.
Overall, the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade is a fun and unique way to experience the magic of Disney at Magic Kingdom. Whether you’re a long-time fan of Disney characters or just discovering them for the first time, this mini-parade is sure to put a smile on your face and leave you with memories that will last a lifetime.
Editor’s Note,
These Cavalcades began during the covid scare. Post re-opening after the 2020 closure Disney canceled scheduled parades as these caused people to congregate next to each other all along the parade route. The quick, unscheduled cavalcades (in each park) were a way to let people see the characters without congregating. You’d hear the music and head over, then in minutes it was complete.
