Ambiance & History
Mickey’s Toontown originally opened in 1993, giving guests the chance to step into a living cartoon. Inspired by Who Framed Roger Rabbit and the golden age of Disney animation, the land recreated the exaggerated shapes, bold colors, and humor of classic cartoons.
In 2023, the land underwent a major reimagining to improve accessibility, shade, and interactivity for today’s families. Many areas were redesigned to encourage play, relaxation, and sensory balance, with a focus on inclusive design. The new Toontown features lush lawns, softer surfaces, and more seating—perfect for parents with little ones.
Guests can also visit the homes of beloved characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck, each filled with delightful props and interactive gags that bring their personalities to life.
With its cartoon skyline, bouncing sound effects, and the distant whistle of Goofy’s train, Toontown is pure animated joy—a perfect finale to a day of Disneyland fun.
Disneyland Park Layout
Mickey’s Toontown is located beyond Fantasyland, across the Disneyland Railroad tracks. It’s intentionally tucked away from the main hub areas, and most guests access it through the tunnel entrance from Fantasyland.
