This post is part of our Frequently Asked Question Series in the Disney Armed Forces Salute Ticket FAQ section.
The Disney’s Armed Forces Salute offers huge savings on theme park tickets and resort rooms to those Service Members who are eligible to participate.
Does the Disney’s Armed Forces Salute military sponsor need to be with their guests at all times?
No! (with one exception)
Once the Disney Armed Forces Salute tickets are activated the party may split up. For example some go to Epcot and some to the Magic Kingdom (or Disneyland/California Adventure), or even use the tickets on entirely different days through the end date of the Salute offer period.
The Military Sponsor’s ID is checked only upon ticket activation.
This used to not be the case at the Disneyland Resort, where until 2012 they required the military member to enter the theme parks with their guests each time.
Disney World however has never required the member to accompany their guests after Salute ticket activation.
What’s the one exception? At Disneyland the Salute tickets are activated during the first theme park entrance, not at a separate ticket window prior. So your whole party must enter the same park the first time. You can then immediately split up if desired (some going to the other park).

Hi Raymond,
You can share your Disney Armed Forces Salute benefit with them if they go with you.

My husband will be deployed and we discussed taking our daughter before she turns 3 (so she gets in free) would my mom and I be able to go without my husband there, even though I have a military ID?
Hi Rebecca,
Yes the spouse may use the days ticket discounts in place go the member and allow whoever they’d like to use the other tickets.
Can I resell an extra Armed Forces Salute exchange certificate? Member of party can no longer attend. Thanks! – Bob
Hi Bob,
Yes you can. The ticket limit applies to the activation process, not the purchase. The person who buys it must have the ability to activate it (Correct ID and be under the 6 ticket limit).
Having said that some bas ticket offices sell the vouchers as hard plastic tickets, some sell them as green ticket sized pieces of paper, and some as full sheets of paper. The full sheets often have the name of the individual who it was purchased for printed on it and some base ticket offices insist on writing names on the plastic or paper tickets thinking they are required to (they are not).
I mention this because presenting a ticket or paper with a different name than the one printed on it might spark a conversation during the activation process. the person activating it need only say that they originally bought it for a friend who could no longer go and is now activating it for themselves/someone else.
